The Wizard's Pursuit of Truth

Chapter 63 - 62: Black Sun Great Wizard, Surging Undercurrents

[Target: Rosa’s Diary]

[Details: Sealed by Witchcraft and a Witch Array Technique. The diary can be opened by interrupting the balanced cycle between the Magic Circuits and the sealing Witchcraft.]

[Evaluation: This is the diary of a Wizard named Rosa, chronicling various events from their travels—some exciting, some dangerous, and perhaps containing even more unknown information.]

The curiosity in Wang Ya’s eyes did not diminish. This was a dead giveaway; if it were an ordinary travel journal, why go to such lengths to seal it?

By analyzing it with his Eye of Truth, he could find the circuit nodes and interrupt the balanced cycle.

This method might destroy some of the book’s contents, but Wang Ya didn’t plan on wasting too much time on this special diary unless he found something truly valuable inside.

He was more focused on choosing his Wizard Path and mastering Extraordinary Disciplines.

’Besides, my golden pocket watch can reverse time. If the diary does contain extremely important information, I can always undo it.’

His pupils shimmered with a fine blue light. After identifying the circuit nodes, he gathered Particle Energy in his right hand and slammed it down onto the book’s page.

The desk trembled slightly from the force of the blow.

TSSSSS!

A sound like a short-circuiting current hissed, and a burnt, acrid smell wafted out from under his palm.

Wang Ya picked up the now-pitted, scorched book and gave it a shake. The pages could indeed be turned, and a few fine metal fragments fell out from within.

His destructive act had completely ruined the metal components of the Witch Array Technique. Even an Alchemy Wizard would find it nearly impossible to repair.

Although there was damage—the biggest being a large, scorched black patch in the bottom-right corner that obscured the text—Wang Ya could still deduce most of it from the context.

Rosa’s Diary:

[September 1: I have set out for the location recorded in the information. I don’t know if I can find the exact spot in the vast Endless Sea. That place is too important. If its existence can truly be confirmed, it will change everything.]

[September 15: Choosing the Wizard Ship was a mistake. I should have picked a medium-sized one. Sailing the Endless Sea on the smallest model of Wizard Ship is truly dangerous. We encountered a High-tier Extraordinary Creature. It took considerable effort to defeat it, and more than half the mortals on board died.]

[October 30: The mortals on the ship are almost all dead. The resources I’m carrying are nearly depleted. Fortunately, I have finally found the place from the records—a massive Island Continent.]

[November 10: This damned place! The Particle Energy is too thin. Every bit of Power I use is one less I have. I must find that person’s Wizard Ruins as soon as possible. Troublesome mortals... they only learn their lesson at the cost of death.]

[December 1: Damn it! This is a fake Wizard Ruins! In a place with such thin Particle Energy, there’s no way the Black Sun Great Wizard would have left their legacy. The map is also a token. I can give up on this target location. The real legacy ruins must be at one of the other target locations.]

[December 2: The ruins aren’t fake—there’s more to them than meets the eye. A fragmented War Body Wizard legacy. It’s better than nothing. Perhaps I can discover more. My curiosity has been piqued.]

[December 5: Damn it, it’s an Alchemy Puppet! I triggered something in the ruins, and it’s self-destructing... No... I’m not out of danger yet... It’s a curse... It will corrode all my flesh and blood, even my marrow. I have to suppress this curse...]

Wang Ya closed Rosa’s Diary, a contemplative light in his eyes as he processed the vast amount of information.

His luck was pretty good; not much of it had been destroyed.

The origin of the red metal ring was now clear. Rosa, the treasure-hunting Wizard, most likely never escaped the curse that had erupted from the unknown Wizard’s ruins.

Otherwise, a Wizard’s storage Witchcraft Artifact would never have ended up in the hands of a mortal.

That Island Continent was definitely the Mortal World where Arthur was from, but it was impossible to determine if it was the same Island Continent Wang Ya was on. Wizard Ships traveled to various Island Continents to recruit new blood.

A metal medallion appeared in his hand. Its color was dark, as if soaked and dried in blood, but its carved lines were not very detailed.

A circular object was engraved on it, looking very much like a burning sun.

Only those whose Power surpassed the scope of an Official Wizard and reached an even higher level could be called a Great Wizard.

Wang Ya couldn’t hide the shock in his eyes. He knew the Eye of Truth couldn’t be wrong, yet when he’d first seen this metal medallion, it had failed to provide any information about it.

The Eye of Truth could only fail to analyze something if its Grade was too high or the gap in Power was too great.

Wang Ya rubbed the metal medallion, his expression turning solemn. This indirectly confirmed the authenticity of both the medallion and the contents of the diary.

At the very least, this was the legacy of a Level 2 Wizard. The value contained within his Wizard Ruins was unimaginable; it would probably even shake the decision-making Official Wizards of the Dark Land.

The metal medallion felt scorching hot in Wang Ya’s hand, but he only tightened his grip.

It was impossible not to be tempted. Acquiring the inheritance of a Level 2 Wizard would save Wang Ya a great deal of time, and the path of a predecessor could serve as inspiration.

What might that legacy contain?

Even the knowledge of just a few Witchcraft spells would be absurdly valuable—a precious treasure.

These would be Witchcraft techniques refined by Official Wizards and Great Wizards. Their Effect would be on a completely different dimension compared to the Witchcraft of the Apprenticeship Stage.

Of course, they would inevitably be better suited for the Wizard who created and refined them. This, in a sense, was their Wizard Path.

Wang Ya took a deep breath, slowly calming his turbulent emotions, and placed the metal medallion back into his Silver Bracelet.

The purity of his Eye of Truth was still insufficient; he couldn’t perceive the true nature of the metal medallion, nor could he analyze it.

It wasn’t too late to dig into this Treasure Mountain later. He would at least wait until his Power had increased to the point where he could use his analysis function.

The metal medallion was in his hand, and the target map was on it. The ruins of the Black Sun Wizard weren’t going anywhere.

The trials and tempering he had undergone all the way from the Endless Sea and Ancient Forest Mountain allowed Wang Ya to maintain a rational mind, enabling him to judge and make trade-offs.

Even if he found the Wizard Ruins, his insufficient Power meant that any small danger could claim his life. It was not something he could afford to meddle with at his current stage.

Tomorrow’s Extraordinary Discipline class was the most important thing right now.

With the Witch Books on his desk, combined with his previous progress, Wang Ya managed to conquer another one over the course of the afternoon. This one was about Wizard Surgery, focusing on how to treat injuries.

It covered everything from initial treatment of external wounds to using Particle Energy for fine internal control to promote cellular healing and bodily metabolism.

It was also precise down to a microscopic level regarding the replenishment of nutritional energy.

Once he mastered the remaining Witch Book on Extraordinary Dissection, he could start conducting experiments to verify what he had learned.

Moonlight streamed through the window, casting soft shadows, bright but not dazzling. A red Magical Plant, shaped like a foxtail grass, had appeared in Wang Ya’s hand. A faint, fresh fragrance wafted from it, and the translucence of the Soul Body on the grim Finger Bone seemed to lessen.

With a gentle puff from Wang Ya, fine, fluffy particles floated from the plant toward the Soul Body, gradually clinging to it and merging with it.

Wang Ya observed in silence.

Meanwhile... Mengta and Reif walked into a Wizard’s Residence in the Free Zone. It was also set in a forest, but it was much smaller than Wang Ya’s residence, and the woods were far sparser. Soon, a building appeared before the two of them.

"Regarding that Wang Ya Harak, I don’t think it’s necessary anymore. He’s not a Wizard Freshman who can be dealt with easily. At least... not without paying a higher price."
