The Wolf God's Unwanted Luna

Chapter 107: Operation Bed Time

Vivian’s POV

I blinked, tried to steady my breathing, and cleared my throat before continuing. "I meant that you’ve shown me different sides of you: some good, some not-so-good. And since you already snooped around my mind without asking, I figured I’d get to know the rest of you the old-fashioned way." I tried for a teasing tone to ease the thick tension. "You know... by actually talking."

He didn’t respond right away. Instead, he dropped his gaze and started tracing idle patterns with his bare fingers along the wrinkled edge of the bedspread. I watched him closely. The silence in the room felt heavier than it should have.

I leaned back slightly against the couch and added, "Of course, I won’t have the luxury of knowing when you’re lying like you do with me."

His head snapped up instantly. There was a flicker of something fierce behind his eyes: something raw, intense, and deeply wounded.

"I will always be honest with you," he said, his voice carrying a weight that made the room feel suddenly smaller.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "Will you?"

"I am."

"Starting now?" I challenged, leaning forward and uncrossing my legs.

Something shifted in his posture. He paused, clearly understanding what I meant. I could see the hesitation in his eyes, the mental tug-of-war playing out behind them. His dark brows furrowed, and he looked down again, his face turned away as if trying to hide the truth behind the question.

I stood up slowly and walked toward him, making sure to keep a safe distance between us. "Even if it hurts me? Even if it’s something I don’t want to hear?" I pressed softly, but firmly.

He stayed silent, head lowered, and for a moment I began to think he might ignore me completely. But then, slowly, he lifted his face. And when his gaze met mine, there was no doubt: his eyes glowed with a sincerity I hadn’t seen in him before.

"Yes," he said, his voice low but completely resolute. "I give you my word. From this moment forward, I’ll be honest with you. Even if it hurts. Even if you hate me for it."

And for the first time since all of this madness started, I saw something in him I hadn’t expected.

Respect.

I stared into his eyes—so still, so wide, so remarkably open—that it nearly made my chest ache. For once, there was no command or suffocating dominance in his gaze. Just quiet hope. Worry. A kind of softness I wasn’t used to seeing in someone like Zaliver. Vulnerable and completely raw.

I gave him a small smile, something faint and probably more pitying than I meant for it to be. Guess he was a fast learner after all.

"Okay," I said casually, stepping around his side of the bed to grab the empty plates and glasses.

He echoed back at me, sounding genuinely confused. "Okay?"

I disappeared into the walk-in closet and grabbed my pajamas, tossing them over my shoulder with practiced ease. I wasn’t going to make a huge production out of this. He could sit and stew in his confusion a little longer.

By the time I came back out into the bedroom, he’d shifted off the mattress and stood on his feet, clearly ready to interrogate me further.

"Okay? That’s it? No follow-up questions? I didn’t even answer the one you asked me earlier about my work," he said, his brows pulled tight, a distinct hint of frustration bleeding through his confusion.

"Yup," I said nonchalantly, walking past him again to scoop up the last glass from the floor. When I turned back toward the doorway, he was straining against the chains just enough to step closer to me: close, but careful not to be reckless. His gaze dropped to the clothes folded over my shoulder.

And just like that, I knew it was time to make my exit.

"What’s with the clothes?" he asked, trying to sound casual, but his voice cracked slightly with urgency. "You’re going to come back and change anyway. Just leave them here."

I backed up into the doorway, a sly smirk curling my lips.

"Enjoy the bed, babe. I’ll be enjoying mine... two doors down. Good night." I bumped the bedroom door closed with my hip before I could see the exact moment his eyes darkened with rage.

"Vivian, come back here. We’re not done talking!" he bellowed from behind the closed wood.

I didn’t even need to raise my voice to answer. He’d hear me loud and clear regardless. "Yes, we are."

"Come back! I... I’ll answer anything you want!" he called out again, his voice echoing into the hallway.

I shook my head, heading downstairs and placing the plates and glasses gently into the kitchen sink. Rolling up my sleeves, I braced both hands on either side of the basin and looked up at the polished cabinets in front of me.

"No thanks. I’m no longer interested." I turned on the faucet, letting the sudden rush of water drown out whatever else he had to say.

Upstairs, something crunched loudly. A wall? A chair? Maybe just his pride.

Welcome to Vivian 101.

After washing the dishes, I moved quietly through the dark house, flicking off lights and leaving him to stew upstairs. I slipped into the guest room two doors down and left the door wide open. No creaking floorboards beneath my feet—thank the goddess. I set the alarm on my phone and quickly changed into my pajamas, sitting stiffly on the very edge of the bed. I knew full well that if I actually lay down and let myself drift off, I’d never wake up in time for what I had planned next.

As expected, it didn’t take long for him to transition from roaring commands to... whining.

At first, I wasn’t even sure what I was hearing. That low, pitiful sound couldn’t possibly be coming from Zaliver. The legendary Zaliver. My ears twitched toward the quiet hallway anyway.

It threw me completely off balance. I even took a step toward the doorway before I caught myself. My wolf pushed against my skin, restless and itching to comfort our mate. But I held her back with a firm thought.

Seven minutes and ten seconds of pitiful whining later, the groaning started. Then came the low growls: sharp, guttural, and restless. I rolled my eyes and stifled a laugh into my hand. His moods shifted like storm clouds over an open sea.

There was no doubt in my mind now: his beast was running the show, and it had clearly named this mission "Operation Get Vivian Into Bed With Me." I was honestly impressed by the sheer dedication.
