The World Is Mine For The Taking

Chapter 1649 - 230 - Training the Heroes (3)

Leon's POV

I watched as Sakai repeatedly swung her blade toward Zes, putting as much speed and force behind every attack as she could while trying to overwhelm her opponent before Zes could find another opening.

Sakai maintained her momentum as she advanced toward Zes, constantly pressing forward and refusing to give her much room to breathe, but Zes was incredibly fast as well, and she somehow managed to block and evade the attacks Sakai threw at her without showing any real signs of difficulty.

Despite Zes's size, she was incredibly agile, and watching her move was honestly strange because her body didn't look like it should have been capable of moving that quickly in the first place.

Whenever she dodged an incoming attack, she would sometimes perform a backward extension roll before immediately pushing herself forward again with an almost ridiculous amount of speed and agility, making her movements look less like those of a normal person and more like something that had completely ignored the usual rules of physics.

"Kuh..." I could clearly see the frustration beginning to show on Sakai's face as she continued struggling to land even one decisive attack against Zes.

While I was watching the fight and trying to figure out what Sakai was planning next, Morishita suddenly leaned forward until her face was practically right in front of mine.

"What are you doing?" I asked her, slightly confused by how close she had suddenly gotten to me without giving me any warning beforehand.

"I am looking at your face," she answered rather casually, as though there were absolutely nothing strange about putting her face practically inches away from mine.

Well, I could obviously tell that she was looking at my face, but the real question was why she felt the need to get this close just to stare at it in the first place.

"You are a very good-looking person," she suddenly said while looking at me with that same strangely calm expression that made it difficult to tell whether she was being serious or simply saying whatever happened to cross her mind.

What the heck was wrong with her, honestly?

She had always been a little strange, but this was reaching an entirely different level compared to what I remembered from before.

Although my memories from my previous life had become rather blurry over time, I still remembered Morishita being eccentric even back then, so apparently teleporting into another world hadn't managed to fix that particular part of her personality.

If anything, she had somehow managed to carry her eccentricity all the way into this world, which was honestly impressive in its own weird way.

"Do you mind if I sit beside you?" she asked while looking at me with a completely innocent expression.

I went quiet for a moment as I considered her question, mostly because I couldn't figure out what she actually wanted from me or why she had suddenly decided that sitting beside me was important.

She didn't seem to have any kind of malicious intention behind it, but I still couldn't completely understand what was going through her head at the moment.

Her way of thinking seemed to work differently from everyone else around her, and trying to predict what she would do next was probably more difficult than it was worth.

Still, it wasn't like anything terrible was going to happen simply because she sat beside me, and considering we were already sitting here watching a fight, I didn't really have a reason to refuse her either.

"Go ahead," I said, deciding that there was no point making the situation more complicated than it needed to be.

When she heard my answer, she immediately sat down beside me, and by beside me, I meant literally beside me with almost no space between us at all.

Her elbow was already touching my side, leaving practically no room between us despite the ridiculous amount of space available around where we were sitting.

I had absolutely no idea why she chose to sit this close when there was enough room for her to sit comfortably several steps away from me, and there was certainly enough space for her to leave a respectable gap between us.

There was literally no reason for her to press herself against my side like this, but I eventually decided that trying to understand Morishita's thought process was probably a waste of valuable brainpower that I could use for something considerably more useful.

Besides, I had a fight happening directly in front of me, so I figured I should probably focus on that instead of trying to solve the mystery of why Morishita apparently needed to sit as close to me as physically possible.

So I simply ignored it and continued watching Zes and Sakai fight, choosing to leave Morishita's strange behavior alone for the moment.

Sakai swung her sword again with considerable force, but Zes managed to catch the blade between both of her hands, slamming her palms together around it before the attack could reach her body.

Sakai immediately tried to apply more pressure to the sword, attempting to overpower Zes through sheer strength and force, but unfortunately for her, Zes was simply too strong for her to push back.

Zes suddenly twisted her body and swung the sword along with Sakai's arms, using the momentum against her before throwing Sakai away from her weapon as though she weighed almost nothing.

Sakai went flying through the air before eventually dropping from a considerable height and crashing onto the ground with enough force to make her skid across the surface.

"Aghhh...!" Sakai cried out as she skidded across the ground, leaving a noticeable trail behind her while she struggled to regain control of her body and stop herself from sliding any farther.

She eventually tried to stand back up, first dropping onto one knee as she gathered herself before slowly pushing herself upright and trying to steady her breathing.

The sword she had been forced to release was thrown back toward her, and it landed near her side before she quickly reached for it and pulled herself back into a proper fighting stance.

"This is barely anything, Miss Sakai!" Zes shouted from where she stood, sounding genuinely disappointed by the fight. "And here I thought the heroes would be able to provide me with some pleasant treats!"

"Ugh..." Sakai groaned, clearly frustrated by how badly she was being overwhelmed despite continuing to give everything she had.

She seemed especially bothered by the fact that she hadn't even come close to meeting Zes's expectations, and judging from her expression, that realization was probably getting under her skin more than the physical damage itself.
