"Haha! Worry not, child! Imperion is here!"

Landing from the sky, his signature laugh seemed to resound from all directions.

Instantly, the atmosphere changed.

The once-panicking civilians stopped running, and the crying babies began to laugh once more.

After all, with Imperion here, what reason was there for them to fear?

"Look! Look! Mom, it’s Imperion! We’re saved!"

"Yes! Child, now that he’s here, just watch as he defeats that ugly monster who dared attack our city!"

Talking to each other, a mother and child pointed to Imperion with smiles on their faces.

And the remaining bystanders, unwilling to be left out, all began praising him too.

"Long live Imperion!"

"Long live Imperion!"

"Long live Imperion!"

For a while, it was more like a festival than a monster attack.

And Ethan, being the center of this, was completely ecstatic.

’Haha, is this what it feels like to be the symbol of peace!’

’Unbelievable strength, adored by everyone!’

’Had it not been for that diary and what was going to happen in the future, this would have been my dream reincarnation!’

Thinking to himself, Ethan carried the little boy on his shoulder as he stared at the monster who caused all this trouble with a smile on his face.

"Kid, tell me. Is this the bad guy who hurt you?"

"Don’t worry, just close your eyes for a bit. Once you open them, both the bad guys will be gone, and I’ll find your parents."

Completely disregarding the monster in front of him, Ethan continued to coax the kid on his shoulders, as he wondered which of his abilities to try first.

"Damn it, Imperion! Do you think I am a joke!"

"I dare you to make fun of me!"

Roaring angrily, the monster took action.

In Ethan’s shocked view, one of the faces on its chest began to scream in agony, as its empty eye sockets began to release an ice-blue light.

"Die, Imperion!"

"I hope both you and that kid die!"

"It’s what you deserve for ignoring me! The pinnacle of human evolution!"

"Frost Cage! Descend!"

As he said that, from its center, a cold wind began to blow out.

Five feet.

Ten feet.

15 feet.

All around its body, the surrounding temperature began to drop.

People began to shiver, and even the kid on his shoulder began to sneeze.

"Achoo!"

Seeing this, he knew he had to act.

"Alright, kid, close your eyes, and I’ll be right back."

Without waiting for him to reply, Ethan acted.

Boom!

He flew from where he was, straight into the monster’s stomach, pushing them both into the air.

Before there were more casualties, he had to get this monster away from where the people were.

Unfortunately, that wasn’t going to be so easy.

"Haha, Imperion, if you think this is going to be enough to stop me! Then you’re wrong!"

"Everything today has been planned!"

"Even if I lose here, the reality of today’s situation does not change!"

"Imperion, you’ve lost!"

"Haha!"

Laughing maniacally, its dozens of heads each began to rattle as they flew helplessly in the sky.

At that moment, another head, just like the blue one, began to change color as it emitted a bright red light.

"You want to stop me?"

"You want to save the civilians? Let’s see if you can do both!"

"Bloom in the name of flames! Fire Rain!"

Boom!

Boom!

Boom!

As it spoke, from its back, as cannonballs, huge balls of flames exploded out of it, landing towards the ground.

If any one of them landed, it would be nothing less than a catastrophic scene.

And as if to make things worse, the monster said something next that made Ethan feel a chill run down his spine.

"Haha, I already know what you’re thinking, and right now, no other hero is coming to help you!"

"As we speak now, other creations just like me are at large in all corners of the city as we speak!"

"I said it before, but I’ll say it again, Imperion! You cannot win!"

Boom!

Punching away Imperion, who had been holding him in the sky, the monster no longer held back.

"Now be helpless and witness the peak of human evolution!"

With a smile on its multiple faces, huge wings grew from its back as its nails grew longer, each turning into sharp claws that could even tear through steel.

"Arghhhh!"

Roaring to the sky, it floated ready to fight.

However, just as he was about to make another move, he saw that Imperion, whom he thought would be in shock or despair by his news, was currently dead silent.

Floating in the air with his arms crossed with a deadpan expression on his face, Ethan was no longer smiling.

’I see, so that’s what it was, no wonder everything felt a bit familiar as soon as I saw this monster.’

’And if what he said about attacking the rest of the city is true, then I probably have an idea of where in the timeline I’m in!’

Going through his thoughts, Ethan was no longer in the mood to smile.

According to the original book, what was happening now was one of the main reasons Imperion lost hope in humanity.

These attacks, these monsters, this wasn’t some kind of S-class event.

Rather, it was all orchestrated by the Federation to prove that heroes cause more damage than good in their acts to save the people.

’And an event that happened a few months before Imperion’s rival, Arthur, makes his debut as a hero.’

Muttering to himself, Ethan’s eyes began to look down and scan the surroundings. According to the book, the Federation people should have a few spies recording the fight to paint him in a bad light.

"Found you!" he muttered, his eyes slowly glowing red as he noticed some people on the ground secretly recording with cameras and masks on their faces.

At this moment, he couldn’t help but wonder about the question he had always thought about in his past life.

Is it wrong for heroes to kill?
