Returning to the Great Tomb, Darts Guest saw the idle skeletons milling about its edge, a horrified expression on his face.

"Duan Someone, are you sure you want to use these Skeletons? These guys were probably just a bunch of ordinary people when they were alive. Now that they’re dead, they’re even weaker than an average person!"

"That sounds a little racist," Duan Fei retorted, displeased. "They’re just a little skinny. Why are you discriminating against them like that?"

"This isn’t about discrimination! The point is, they aren’t human!"

"And you still say you’re not a racist!"

Darts Guest squinted, staring at Duan Fei until he turned away in embarrassment. "Fine, I admit it. These Skeletons are a little on the weak side."

"A little? I’m skilled in Reconnaissance. These Skeletons have Attributes similar to an average person, but their Constitution is only one! They’ll fall apart if you so much as touch them!"

Unlike people such as Beist and Winston, who were extraordinary even in life, these Skeletons had all been ordinary people.

They had merely been hosts for the Heart-devouring Worms, brought here as sacrifices. Naturally, they didn’t possess much Power in death.

And the players deceived by Kael were all Professional Players. For them, dealing with these Skeletons would be like cutting through butter.

Duan Fei told Darts Guest to be patient and said seriously, "Ever played *Heroes of Might and Magic*? If you stack ten thousand Skeletons together, they can still pull off a one-hit kill. Hundreds of Great Angels would be split in two like watermelons."

"Then you go and try to stack ten thousand Skeletons onto a single tile!"

"Alright, I’m enjoying this little show, but why did you call me here?"

The summoned president of the Bird-beaked Doctor Association looked at Duan Fei, confused as to why he’d been called over.

"It’s nothing major. I just wanted to ask if you know a way to strengthen Skeletons."

The president frowned and said with a sigh, "This is the first time I’ve heard such a bizarre request. Don’t assume that just because we’re Doctors, we can play around with Bones as we please."

"Just tell me, can it be done or not?"

"...Yes, it can. I know a formula, usually used for creating skeletal specimens. By replacing certain elements in the Bone, it can be made lighter yet stronger. However, these Skeletons’ joints will also need to be reinforced. We typically use iron wire to secure them. I don’t know what you plan to do about that."

"Use the best method you have. I know you Doctors aren’t short on money."

"We aren’t. But allow me to offer a friendly reminder: these Skeletons appear to have some consciousness. Are you certain they’re willing to fight with you?"

Duan Fei froze for a moment. Only then did it dawn on him that the Skeletons might not be willing to help.

These Skeletons had been Undead Creatures for many years, and most memories of their former lives had long since faded away.

From the looks of it, they seemed to be enjoying their life after death.

Each Skeleton was lazing about near the tomb, spacing out. Sometimes one would get up, take off its own head, and kick it around like a ball. They showed absolutely no will to fight.

This was especially true since going to war would require them to undergo a series of procedures to strengthen their bodies.

Duan Fei imagined himself in their position. ’If someone came and ordered me to go fight on a battlefield after I’d retired, I definitely wouldn’t be happy about it.’

Just as Duan Fei was pondering how to persuade them, Beist made his entrance.

He strode toward the tomb and shouted in a booming voice, "Assemble!"

Even as a Skeleton, Beist’s voice was still deep and resonant, easily reaching every other Skeleton.

Before long, a few Skeletons had lazily gathered, but the majority didn’t even bother to move.

Surprisingly, Beist did not get angry.

He just looked around calmly, the Soul Fire beneath his armor leaping restlessly.

"Brothers, we’re going to war."

"You go by yourself!" one Skeleton retorted grumpily.

"The enemy’s name... is Kael!"

Skeletons rose to their feet in droves, the flames within their skulls igniting, bursting like fireworks within their bodies.

"Do you remember what he did to us? Come, tell me!"

"The plague," one Skeleton said flatly. "That plague killed my family and left me alone in unbearable agony. Then a worm ate my brain."

"Deceit," said a tiny Skeleton. "He lured me into the Church’s basement and used something tainted with the plague on me."

"Cruelty. When there weren’t enough sacrifices, he slaughtered my village and captured my older brother and me."

"Hypocrisy. I can still remember the smile on his face the first time we met. I thought I was seeing a Saint, but he turned out to be a Demon."

Every person who became one of these Skeletons was someone whose brain could be infested by a Heart-devouring Worm.

And for every one of these suitable hosts, there were countless innocents who had died from the plague. This blood debt, once forgotten, was now remembered.

The stench of blood had faded, but its color had soaked into their very marrow, turning it a dark, somber shade. Until the main culprit was slain by their hands, that color would never disappear.

Watching the Skeletons, now burning with rage, the president was stunned for a moment, then nodded solemnly.

"Trust us. We will turn you into the finest Warriors. I swear it."

The plague in Radiant City slowly began to subside. The blood of the healed became the best medicine and was used to cure the remaining sick.

When the plague was finally eradicated, the city erupted in cheers, but the publication of an investigative report plunged them into an icy abyss.

The plague had been deliberate.

The gems in the Gem Ruins were not gems at all, but worm eggs that someone had planted there.

The sanctimonious Pope Kael was the culprit behind it all, and his ultimate goal was to turn them into sacrifices.

The report was endorsed by the Priest, and the once-great hero Beist also stepped forward to announce that he would once again fight against evil.

No one knew the person beneath the armor was actually Jinghong. A masterful performance convinced everyone it was Beist, lending the report even greater credibility.

Of course, the real Beist was also present.

The death toll from the plague reached fifty percent. An entire half of the population had been turned into corpses. This tragic outcome left the survivors sobbing uncontrollably, and they swore that this blood debt would be paid in blood.

No encouragement was needed. The people of Radiant City gathered spontaneously, beginning to collect materials for the Doctor Beaks and preparing various types of armor for the Skeletons.

Ironware from their homes was melted down, gold was forged into replacement parts, and the able-bodied youths who had recovered helped prepare the formulas.

They worked tirelessly. Everyone remained silent, but their eyes were filled with a shared rage.

Revenge was the sole driving force behind their actions. Spurred on by this desire for vengeance, they worked tirelessly, preparing more materials and creating more weapons for the Skeletons.

On the fourth day, a Scout from outside the city hurried in and brought Duan Fei a message.

A company of Angels had arrived and were demanding to see the person in charge.
