Nemo was stunned to find himself in a coma.

In the game "Abyss," there was no countdown when a player fell into a coma. Instead, their sight, hearing, and senses were all stripped away, leaving them completely unaware of what was happening on the outside.

Cursing "shit," he quickly opened the guild chat. The last message, from a guild member, reported seeing Duan Fei and his group in the northeast corner of the city.

The message had been sent fifteen minutes ago, but he had been in such a rush to get in-game and take charge that he hadn’t even checked the time.

’I can’t believe Duan Fei’s group had already moved to the tower and caught me right here.’

Fuming, Nemo logged into the guild leader’s account and typed furiously, "What the hell are you guys doing?! Why aren’t there any real-time location reports!"

"The member on spotting duty hit his time limit, so he logged off to rest!"

"Then why couldn’t he stay on a little longer?! You’re all young, how can you be resting! This guild isn’t a one-man show. We can only build it up if we all work together!"

"Why work extra if we’re not getting paid for it?!"

"You only work for money?! Why are you all nickel-and-diming me?"

After a moment of silence, a guild player suddenly spoke up. "Well, Guild Leader, I’d like to ’nickel-and-dime’ a bit, if you don’t mind. If the guild really belongs to all of us, then why doesn’t anyone know what kind of deal you signed with Love City? What do we even get out of bringing people here every day? How did our conflict with Eternal Night start? Why do they hate us so much that they want us all dead? And how much longer until Love City actually becomes a guild asset?"

The barrage of sharp questions left Nemo speechless.

Humiliated, his anger flared. He typed, "Shut up! I’m in charge of this guild!"

"Ah, so the act is finally over. That’s what you really think, isn’t it?"

"Shut up!"

Nemo immediately kicked the member from the chat. He had just taken a breath when another member spoke up. "I had a feeling something was off during the last major quest. By my calculations, we made around two hundred thousand Abyss Coins that night. The hundred players who participated each got a thousand coins, and the guild treasury increased by eighty thousand. So, where did the other twenty thousand coins go?"

"That’s weird. I ran the numbers too. The payout for the big weekly quests never quite adds up. I just assumed rewards varied based on contribution, but it looks like something fishy is going on."

"Mhm, and after every one of those quests, Vice President Nemo always seems to acquire some pretty nice new items. I’d be shocked if there wasn’t a connection."

"Don’t tell me this is a gay guild! No way! I don’t want to be in the Big Spinning Bird guild!"

"And another thing, whenever members got kicked out, some dirt on them would always magically appear on the forums. I used to think we were just getting rid of the bad apples, but now I’m not so sure."

"Guild Leader, care to explain?"

Just as Nemo was scrambling in a panic, a forum post delivered the killing blow.

The conflict between Icefield Walker and Eternal Night had already been attracting some attention.

The members of the Eternal Night Guild were all fairly low-key, which had a lot to do with their shared case of "eighth-grader syndrome."

The guild leader, "Shadow God," was a massive fan of *Wants to become a Shadow Power User*. He truly believed that a hero should be unassuming, solve problems from the shadows, and walk a lonely path, burdened by the world’s misunderstandings.

They might have had a touch of eighth-grader syndrome, but the guild had an excellent reputation.

They were committed to their heroic code. Even if you didn’t quite get their vibe, you could still tell there was something genuinely heroic about them.

Because of their good reputation, even though a constant stream of Navy members tried to slander Eternal Night, comments from neutral players always prevented the smear campaigns from gaining traction. After all, the public isn’t blind.

Now, an aspiring reporter named Little Drilling Wind had published a post. The title made it perfectly clear to all the drama-loving spectators that she was there to drag Icefield Walker.

[On How Icefield Walker Fell So Far]

The body of the post was a laundry list of accusations against Icefield Walker.

There were accounts of being strong-armed into unfair trades.

There were former members who were endlessly harassed and slandered after they left the guild.

There were smaller guilds that were relentlessly targeted over minor disputes.

There were cases of members offering to appraise items, only to swap them with fakes.

At the end of the post was the real bombshell: an interview with Shadow God, the leader of the Eternal Night Guild.

Shadow God, ranked 31st among all players, with the Profession of [Demon Swordsman].

Out of reverence for the Lord of Shadows, his in-game Equipment was a black, hooded cloak, with a one-handed sword at his hip. His face was perpetually shrouded by swirling Magic Power, hiding his features.

The interview was conducted in-game and recorded on a Rongge Company camera.

To guarantee the video’s authenticity, it was posted to the forums completely unedited, complete with a verification seal.

Knowing her audience was hungry for drama, Little Drilling Wind dispensed with the pleasantries and got straight to the point. "Shadow God, I want to know what started the conflict between Eternal Night and Icefield Walker. Why are you targeting them?"

"Because I created Icefield Walker."

"...Holy shit! Are you serious?! Kicking things off with a bombshell like that! Do you have any proof?"

"Yes. I still have the original guild creation application and the official confirmation. I left Icefield Walker later because its methods no longer aligned with my own, and then I founded Eternal Night."

"A star player, indeed—able to build a guild from scratch all on your own. So why start going after Icefield Walker now?"

"Because they are evil," Shadow God said with great solemnity. "Is there anything wrong with purging the evil of one’s own past?"

"...That is so over-the-top! But why do I find it so cool?! You’re a fascinating guy, you know that? So why start this just now? Does it have anything to do with you being offline for a while?"

"...My grades on my final exams were so bad my Mom banned me from playing. I just got back. Can we edit this part out?"

"We can’t! This video is evidence, and it needs the verification seal!"

"...I’m logging off."

Watching Shadow God vanish before her eyes, Little Drilling Wind paused for a second. Then she turned to the camera with a warm smile. "A big thank you to Shadow God for the interview. The verification seal has been applied to this video, so you can all validate it at your leisure. And a final note: we’ve confirmed Shadow God’s evidence with the GMs. He is, in fact, the founder of Icefield Walker, though he left the guild not long after Vice President Nemo joined."

"Which brings us to our questions: since the founder left, who is the new guild leader? All of Icefield Walker’s official events are handled by Vice President Nemo. We have to ask: does the real guild leader have some unspeakable secret that keeps them from appearing? That’s all for now. Thanks for watching."

After reading the post, Nemo’s hands began to tremble. Beads of sweat rolled down his forehead, and he couldn’t make them stop.

’The fact that I’m the real guild leader... it’s finally out.’

The moment the post went up, members started leaving the guild in droves. Soon, only a third of them remained.

Nemo’s mind was a mess. He couldn’t understand how things had come to this.

’What did I do wrong? What caused the entire guild to start collapsing around me?’

Countless thoughts raced through his mind, finally settling on a single player ID.

Duan Someone!

But he never expected that Little Drilling Wind’s post was only the beginning.

Nemo’s nightmare was far from over.
