Chapter 66: Chapter 66: Do It for a Bit? Alright
He had just given her a few suggestions while posing as a female netizen.
Xia Shiqing immediately asked him for a date, which showed that she really took advice well.
And her follow-through was truly impressive.
"Okay, I’ll go pick you up from your office later."
Chen Mo smiled and typed out his reply.
"[Kitty Kisses]"
A moment later, Xia Shiqing replied with a cute sticker of a cat blowing a kiss. He had no idea where she’d swiped it from.
After chatting for a bit, Xia Shiqing had to get back to work.
After playing games for a bit, Chen Mo changed his clothes and headed out as well.
He took a cab to the bar from last night, then pulled out the key to Pan Kejia’s Model Y and unlocked the doors.
When he left the hotel that morning, Chen Mo had taken her car keys with him.
He’d "driven" her pretty hard last night. He figured she wouldn’t have the strength to come get the car herself for the next day or two.
He got into the driver’s seat, adjusted it, and then drove toward a nearby mall.
In the name of efficiency, he’d torn Pan Kejia’s clothes last night.
She still had to get home from the hotel, and her clothes were definitely unwearable, so he figured he should buy her a new outfit.
Chen Mo couldn’t be bothered to browse, so he just bought a new suit in the same office style she had been wearing yesterday.
While he was at it, he also picked up a few pairs of stockings.
In all sorts of colors.
After all, he had torn hers last night, so it was only reasonable to buy her a few new pairs.
After buying the clothes and putting the shopping bags in the car, he bought her some food as well.
Once that was done, he drove the "evil computer mouse" back toward the hotel.
By the time he got to the hotel, it was nearly 4 p.m.
He took the elevator upstairs and stood outside her room before giving Pan Kejia a call.
"Hello?"
Pan Kejia’s languid, listless voice came through the phone; it sounded like she wasn’t fully awake yet.
"Open the door."
Chen Mo said, then knocked lightly on the door.
Hearing Chen Mo tell her to open the door, followed by the knock, she instantly thought he wanted to "recharge" her again.
"You don’t still want to... No way, I’m not opening the door!"
Pan Kejia refused immediately. She had just recovered a little after sleeping all afternoon and couldn’t handle another round.
"I bought you clothes and food."
Chen Mo knew what she was afraid of and couldn’t help but smile.
Hearing this, Pan Kejia paused for a moment, then glanced at the ripped clothes on the floor.
*CLICK*
A moment later, the door opened from the inside.
Pan Kejia, wrapped in a bath towel, opened the door for him. The moment she did, she dove back into bed and hid under the covers.
She peeked out with just her head, watching him warily.
"Are you hungry? Eat something first."
Chen Mo came in, closed the door behind him, and placed the food on the table.
"So you do have a conscience after all."
As Pan Kejia smelled the fragrant food on the table, the wariness in her eyes finally began to fade.
Chen Mo had left right after his "morning workout," leaving her all alone in the hotel.
Her clothes were ruined, and she was exhausted and starving.
She had been silently cursing Chen Mo as a heartless bastard—the type to get what he wants and then just leave.
Now, it seemed that while Chen Mo was still a scumbag, he wasn’t a completely heartless one.
She threw back the covers, still wrapped in her towel, and sat down in the chair. She then picked up the food Chen Mo had bought and began to wolf it down.
At the restaurant last night, she’d been too busy rubbing her foot against Chen Mo to eat much.
Later at the bar, she’d just been chugging drinks and hadn’t eaten much either.
On top of that, after being "driven" so hard all night, she was already starving.
"Slow down, no one’s going to steal it from you."
Chen Mo couldn’t help but laugh as he watched her devour the food. He twisted open a bottle of water and handed it to her.
’She must be really hungry.’
After finishing the meal Chen Mo brought, Pan Kejia’s spirits seemed to lift considerably.
"I bought you some clothes. They should fit."
Chen Mo handed her the shopping bag.
Chen Mo was confident about the sizing.
After all, he’d gotten to know her "ins and outs" last night, let alone her measurements on the outside.
Pan Kejia took the office suit out of the shopping bag and glanced at it.
She had been bracing herself for the terrible taste of a typical straight guy—a style so bad it would defy description—but it turned out to be surprisingly nice.
"Not bad. Thanks."
Her gaze softened a little as she thanked Chen Mo.
’Looks like Chen Mo actually put some thought into it.’
"You weren’t this polite to me last night."
"I parked your car in the hotel lot. Oh, and it’s low on battery. Don’t forget to charge it."
Chen Mo gave her a meaningful look, then placed her car keys on the table.
"I know."
Pan Kejia glanced at the car keys and muttered under her breath.
She didn’t want to hear the word "charge" right now.
Still, she was surprised that Chen Mo had gone out of his way to bring her car back for her.
"Sit for a while."
Seeing that Chen Mo was still standing, she lay back down on the bed, leaving the chair for him.
"’Do it’ for a while? Sure."
Chen Mo feigned a moment of surprise, then gave Pan Kejia a suggestive look.
"Huh?"
When Pan Kejia saw his suggestive gaze, she instantly understood.
"Chen Mo, get out!"
Her pretty face flushed red with anger as she pointed a slender, pale finger toward the door.
Perhaps because she had eaten her fill and gotten some rest, her voice was considerably louder.
’Do it for a while?’
’Does he really think I’m made of iron?’
’Even cars on the highway get to pull over at a rest stop after a few hundred kilometers to pop the hood and cool down.’
’But Chen Mo felt no pity at all. Was he planning to drive me straight to the scrapyard?’
"Look at you, getting all worked up. It was just a joke."
Chen Mo was, of course, aware of her physical condition; he was only teasing.
"Alright, you get some rest. I’m leaving. I have plans tonight."
Chen Mo glanced at his watch and prepared to leave.
"What plans?"
Pan Kejia asked before she could stop herself.
A moment ago, she’d been angry enough to throw him out, but now that he was actually leaving, she felt a strange, inexplicable emotion.
Even though their relationship was complicated and far from pure.
But no matter how she looked at it, Chen Mo was her first ’boyfriend.’
He was also the one who’d "peeled the protective film off her new car."
For her, Chen Mo held a very special place in her heart.
"Siqing asked me out for a date tonight."
Chen Mo thought for a moment and decided not to hide it from her.
"Scumbag!"
Hearing this, Pan Kejia clenched her jaw, glared at him, and spat out the word.
A helpless and complicated expression flickered across her beautiful face.
It was perfectly natural for Chen Mo and Xia Shiqing to go on a date; she had no right to say anything.
After all, she was the one who had come second.
But she was still angry that he was just leaving her alone in a hotel to go on a date with someone else.
And of all people, it had to be Xia Shiqing!
Hearing this, Chen Mo just shrugged, saying nothing.
In this day and age, being called a "scumbag" wasn’t really an insult anymore.
Who wouldn’t want to be a scumbag if they had the means?
On the contrary, calling someone a "nice guy" or an "honest man" was practically an insult these days...
"Go on, get out of here! I never want to see you again!"
Pan Kejia turned her back to him, pulled the covers over her head, and said listlessly, her words fueled by anger.
She seemed to have realized that she had no right to say anything to Chen Mo.
After all, she had been the one to offer herself to him.
If anything, Xia Shiqing was the one who had the right to curse her out.
"Alright, I’m leaving then."
Chen Mo more or less understood what was going through her mind, so he just smiled and turned to leave.
If anyone ever tried to tie him down, he would immediately cut them off completely.
Chen Mo walked to the door and was about to grab the handle to open it when...
"Wait!"
Pan Kejia suddenly threw off the covers and called out to stop him.
She immediately got out of bed and, walking with some difficulty, crossed the carpeted floor barefoot to grab hold of Chen Mo just as he was about to open the door.
"What’s wrong?"
Chen Mo gave her a thoughtful look. ’Does she really want to tie me down?’
’Just now she told me to leave, and now that I’m actually going, she’s unhappy.’
"I want you to go see her during your Sage Time!"
Pan Kejia bit her lip. After a flicker in her eyes, her tone became firm.
A determined look appeared in her eyes.
But Chen Mo had already started to smile.
