It’s finally time to go premium!

This book was first published on March 7th, and tomorrow, April 16th, it will go premium.

The new book period wasn’t short—40 days.

Although I said I was a newbie with only one book under my belt, everyone already saw through me thanks to my Lv. 5 author status, hahaha.

Alright, I admit it, I’m not a newbie. I’ll stop pretending. I’m laying all my cards on the table.

I’ve written a book before—my first one in the industry. It was nearly 4 million characters long and did pretty well.

For certain unspeakable reasons, it got axed.

After that, I spent a few years writing on other platforms, and my results there were also decent.

But after drifting around for so long, I started to feel homesick and wanted to return to where it all began.

Qidian felt like the one that got away.

Coincidentally, my Gold-tier Editor, Fuchen Ju, had also sent me many WeChat messages asking me to come back to Qidian and start a new book. We hit it off immediately.

I’ve actually known Fuchen Ju for several years now. We had dinner together in Shanghai back in ’19. He’s a great guy, very patient.

He would reply instantly to any questions I had, big or small, and he helped me a lot during the new book period.

He told me, "You haven’t written on Qidian for a few years. Even though you’re a veteran author, you don’t have a reader base here, so you’re essentially starting over as a complete newcomer."

That’s also why I called myself a newbie, hahaha.

But Fuchen Ju was right. Without a reader base, this book’s initial performance was actually just average.

Fortunately, with the strong support and companionship of all you bros later on, the book’s performance started to pick up.

It made it through every round of PK, all the way to the end, and even got a Sanjiang recommendation.

We were even just over 100 concurrent readers away from getting the "Little Loudspeaker" recommendation.

It reached as high as #12 on the overall new book rankings and #4 in the Urban category.

And today, the number of ’collections’ just hit 20,000.

I’m already very satisfied with these results, especially for a ’total newbie’ like me, hahaha.

However, this is all data from the free-to-read period. Starting tomorrow when it goes premium, this will all be in the past.

After it goes premium, what really matters are the actual, tangible subscriptions.

As for the idea for this book, it actually came to me randomly one night when I was suffering from insomnia.

It’s very abstract, very zany, and the premise is pretty out there.

Although it’s fun, it’s actually quite difficult to write.

Because I have to come up with all sorts of plot twists, and they have to be interesting and fresh.

Thinking up twists every day is seriously making my hair fall out.

I will do my best to write each character with their own distinct traits, so they don’t feel like one-dimensional stereotypes at first glance.
