This Character is Suspected of Cheating! [Unlimited Flow]
Chapter 19: Dawn Training School (4)The principal: “...”
Bullet comments: “???”
Blue Star people: “...Pfft hahaha!!!”
No middleman taking a cut?
What an incredibly plain, straightforward sentence. Anyone could understand it at a glance!
Blue Star.
Ye Kaijun and the others stared in complete astonishment.
After a long pause, Wei Jiaguo smiled and shook his head. “This He Yu really is impossible to predict.”
Zheng Ke smiled too, his eyes full of relief. “Exactly. We all underestimated him. He’s secured the first round of the elimination match.”
So what if his combat power was low?
So what if anyone could kill him in a second?
Right now, he was both a contestant and a training instructor who couldn’t be killed. Wanrenzhan and the others definitely couldn’t attack him!
This He Yu was always this surprising, always this shocking.
The Blue Star viewers were laughing, while the people flooding into He Yu’s livestream from other channels were speechless—
“Unbelievable. Opportunistic again.”
“He’s full of lies, exploiting loopholes in the program rules!”
“...To be fair, I think He Yu’s just smart. He convinced the principal step by step and became a training instructor through his own ability.”
“Agreed. This isn’t even a loophole. <Top Talent Show> has always worked like this. The instance automatically fills in character identities. He used intelligence and acting skills to become a teacher, so why call it exploiting loopholes? What loophole?”
“This He Yu is basically a bug. Eight points of combat power and he’s still alive now?”
“Production team, how are you handling this? Are you really just letting him become a teacher nobody can kill?”
“When He Yu succeeded during the audition round, you said he was lucky. Now that he became a teacher, you say he’s opportunistic. So whatever he does is wrong, huh?”
“Oh wow, come look, someone’s actually supporting a garbage-planet contestant.”
“Don’t bother arguing with them. They’re so obsessed with hating He Yu they’ve gone insane. Him surviving this far with eight combat power is already a miracle. Let’s quietly watch how far this miracle goes.”
“Some of you better keep your votes ready. If He Yu advances this round, remember to vote for him from now on too!”
“Let him advance first.”
...
Every time He Yu appeared, chaos inevitably erupted.
And so far, every single time, the louder side had always been the side opposing him.
Yet amid the flaming arguments, there were also a few rational discussions—
“Am I the only one seriously thinking about what He Yu said?”
“Why can’t equipment be human? Without equipment acting as the middleman taking the price difference... wouldn’t that actually be insanely strong? I genuinely think He Yu makes sense.”
“Oh my god, you people actually believe the nonsense He Yu made up? Have you lost your minds?”
“I think they have... He Yu literally fabricated all his evidence. There’s no way this theory can be trusted. Anyone who believes it is an idiot.”
...
Was He Yu’s theory feasible?
99.9% of the audience believed: complete nonsense.
Some even mocked him—
“A trash with eight combat power came up with a brand-new combat development theory? He’s that amazing? Why doesn’t he just ascend to heaven while he’s at it?”
—
The replay ended, and the audience returned to the live broadcast.
He Yu stood at the podium, calmly looking at the nine shocked “students” below him.
Wanrenzhan, Gedai, and several others were grinding their teeth in rage.
Eugene and Zhen Xing exchanged glances, both seeing gravity in the other’s eyes.
—He Yu becoming a training instructor made this troublesome.
“What the hell are you scheming?” Wanrenzhan gritted out word by word.
If he weren’t still in the competition, he’d immediately replay the footage to see exactly what He Yu had done!
He Yu blinked innocently and spat out two words:
“You guess?”
Wanrenzhan: “...”
Blood surged in his chest. He could already taste iron in his mouth.
“Alright then, Teacher He, conduct your class properly. And you transfer students should behave yourselves too. Our school motto is respect teachers and honor the Way. Anyone who violates the school motto will be expelled.”
The principal’s expression was stern.
Wanrenzhan and the others’ faces instantly turned green.
After the principal left, He Yu adjusted his glasses and swept his gaze across the nine contestants and the NPC students below him. The corners of his lips curved upward.
“Then let’s begin class. New students, introduce yourselves.”
Bullet comments: “...”
Wanrenzhan: “???”
He Yu looked at him and smiled slightly.
“We’ll start with you.”
Wanrenzhan: “?”
His chest rose and fell violently. His face was red with fury, his entire body on the verge of exploding. His hand unconsciously clenched, as if he might swing his axe the next second.
He Yu reminded him:
“The school motto. Respect teachers and honor the Way. Students who violate the school motto... will be expelled.”
Ordinary students were expelled.
Contestants, however, were eliminated.
And elimination meant death.
Annie’s expression changed drastically too, a blade instantly appearing in their hand.
Unexpectedly, Wanrenzhan stopped them. His face was dark as he spoke in a hoarse voice:
“The rules of the competition cannot be resisted.”
—That was experience from his previous season.
<Top Talent Show> was a cruel competition. It was also a competition where lives meant nothing. One wrong step led to only one ending:
Death.
Wanrenzhan was violent and hot-tempered, but he understood the rules.
Taking a deep breath, he stared fixedly at He Yu, his eyes seemingly spewing flames.
“My name is Wanrenzhan. I believe in repaying grudges. Anyone who offends me isn’t leaving alive.”
He Yu paid absolutely no attention to the threat. Turning toward the others, he gestured for them to continue.
“Gedai.”
“Annie.”
“Zhen Xing.”
“Eugene.”
...
One after another, they introduced themselves. He Yu nodded.
—At last, he’d matched the names to the faces.
These Federation elites all knew each other already. But He Yu came from Blue Star; he hadn’t known any of them before.
Even though he’d seen their names in the bullet comments, he hadn’t connected them to actual people yet.
Holding <Basic Principles of Combat Power Development>, He Yu continued:
“So then, tell me. What exactly is combat power?”
Wanrenzhan shot to his feet.
“Don’t push this too far!”
He Yu remained expressionless. His head was lowered slightly, his eyes looking outward above the rim of his glasses. The lenses were cold, and so was his gaze.
“I’m teaching class. Please respect classroom order.”
Wanrenzhan’s breathing grew heavier, his chest rising violently.
There was no doubt he hated He Yu to the bone right now. The instant he got the chance, he’d split He Yu in half with one swing.
Grinding his teeth, Wanrenzhan answered:
“Combat power is our physical condition, as well as the energy stored inside our bodies. Equipment can be used to amplify it, allowing us to possess supernatural abilities.”
He Yu nodded and flipped through <Basic Principles of Combat Power Development>, sinking into thought.
A moment later, he looked at Eugene.
“Talk about methods of increasing combat power.”
Unlike Wanrenzhan, Eugene merely looked at He Yu suspiciously before answering seriously—
“There are two methods. One is using potions to enhance your own attributes. The other is using equipment to increase combat power. Combat power equals personal attributes plus equipment combat power. Of course, attribute-enhancing potions are difficult to obtain, so equipment enhancement is the most common method.”
He Yu listened attentively, nodding as he scribbled a couple lines into the textbook.
Then he asked Wanrenzhan again:
“So personal attributes can only be improved through potions? Physical training should help too, right?”
Wanrenzhan glared.
“Aren’t you teaching <Basic Principles of Combat Power Development>? Why are you even ask—”
He Yu: “School motto.”
Wanrenzhan looked like someone had strangled him by the throat. After a long moment, he snapped irritably:
“Yes! It can improve too!”
That single sentence alone made him unwilling to continue.
—He was convinced He Yu was messing with them on purpose.
Eugene explained in greater detail instead:
“But improving physical ability is extremely difficult. A whole year of painful training might only raise combat power by a few points, and there’s an upper limit. Potions are different. Good potions increase strength very quickly.”
Wanrenzhan sneered:
“The same potion works better on people with superior physical foundations. A potion that can increase our combat power by ten points would probably only raise some skinny little runt by five.”
He looked meaningfully at He Yu, his face full of mockery.
【Bullet comments: ...Bro, you’re overestimating 2333. He’d gain at most two points.】
He Yu didn’t get angry. He simply nodded, the thoughtful look on his face deepening further.
After that, he asked several questions that Wanrenzhan and the others considered utterly basic, common knowledge.
And then some bizarre, nonsensical questions.
By the time Wanrenzhan, Annie, and the others were reaching the limit of their patience, the bell finally rang.
He Yu closed the book and capped his pen.
“That’s enough for today. Tomorrow’s <Basic Principles> class will be a practical lesson. Gather in the combat room.”
With that, He Yu slipped his hands into his pockets, tucked the book beneath his arm, and walked away gracefully.
Tall and jade-like, his back carried an air of lazy ease.
But Wanrenzhan and the others left behind in the classroom felt anything but relaxed.
The moment He Yu left, the nine gathered together.
Qiong lowered her cap, her voice heavy.
“He became a training instructor. This instance just became much harder.”
Cheng Zhao pressed his lips together.
“Unless we kill straight through to the murderer, we don’t dare make a move.”
He Yu would definitely never kill anyone!
As long as he didn’t kill, he could report contestants who did, as “himself,” and investigate the truth.
He was both a contestant and a “good NPC.”
Four—no, five “good NPCs” could investigate the truth together. Which meant after a report, he could determine whether a contestant had killed or not.
He didn’t even need to understand their combat methods. By coordinating both identities, he could eliminate any contestant who committed murder.
He stood directly in an invincible position.
Annie took a deep breath.
“So we really can’t kill him?”
Yuan Ze replied calmly:
“Don’t challenge the rules.”
Tang Ke said:
“So we only have two paths now. Either rely on audience votes to leave this instance, or find the real murderer before He Yu does.”
The audience immediately began voting for their favorite contestants.
Of course, even more viewers continued holding onto their votes while watching.
—After all, a battlefield between top-tier experts plus a bug like He Yu would be boring if it ended this early.
Eugene shrugged helplessly.
“Wonderful. I’m becoming very interested in this Teacher He Yu. He’s the first person to make things this difficult for me.”
He nudged Zhen Xing beside him.
“What are you thinking about? Why are you so quiet?”
Zhen Xing lifted his head, disappointment in his phoenix eyes.
“So this means I can’t fight He Yu in this instance?”
Everyone: “...”
—What kind of timing was this to still be thinking about fighting?!
Wanrenzhan took a deep breath.
“How many votes do you all have?”
Annie: “Twenty-one thousand.”
Tang Ke: “Twenty-two thousand.”
Yuan Ze: “Forty thousand.”
Qiong: “Thirty thousand.”
Gedai: “Thirty-five thousand.”
Cheng Zhao: “Forty thousand.”
Eugene: “Ninety-five thousand.”
Zhen Xing: “One hundred thousand and two.”
Eugene whipped around.
“Why do you have more than me?!”
Zhen Xing’s gaze remained blank and unfocused. He didn’t answer.
Wanrenzhan: “???”
Eyes wide, he protested furiously:
“Why are all your numbers so high?! Why do I only have twenty thousand?!”
—The clown was actually himself?
—This wasn’t scientific!
He was the champion of the previous season! Why were their vote counts crushing his?!
Wanrenzhan glared at the sky, his entire face screaming dissatisfaction.
—
He Yu only had one class on the first day.
Which meant Wanrenzhan and the others only saw him once. They didn’t see him again for the rest of the day.
—Nobody knew what he was off doing.
Night fell.
Which meant killing could begin.
None of the nine moved. Hidden in the darkness, they waited to see whether anyone would make the first move.
He Yu becoming a teacher had completely disrupted their rhythm. None of them dared act anymore, and their original plan of killing together had collapsed.
And so—
【Dawn has arrived. Peaceful Night.】
Annie let out a long breath.
“As expected, He Yu didn’t make a move.”
Wanrenzhan sneered.
“He’s just waiting for us to kill someone so he can report us and eliminate us.”
Eugene stroked his chin, mechanical fingers tapping lightly.
“The murderer didn’t kill anyone last night either.”
Zhen Xing turned and left, tossing behind a single sentence:
“I’m going to find the murderer. And do missions.”
His votes were already sufficient. He could leave at any time. Compared to Wanrenzhan and the others, he wasn’t nearly as pressured.
Eugene yawned.
“I’m leaving too.”
His votes had reached the requirement last night as well. Losing to Zhen Xing still irritated him a little, though.
Wanrenzhan watched their backs with a gloomy expression.
Tang Ke asked:
“What do we do now?”
Wanrenzhan snapped irritably:
“What do you mean what do we do? We find the murderer. Our vote counts aren’t enough. If they find the murderer before us, we’re eliminated.”
—His tone sounded slightly sour.
Clearly he was the previous season’s champion, so why was his vote count so low?
Wanrenzhan hated He Yu to death.
If not for him, Wanrenzhan wouldn’t have landed safely so early during auditions. He wouldn’t have performed so poorly afterward and lost audience support.
—I’ll tear him into pieces.
Grinding his teeth, Wanrenzhan stormed off furiously.
Because of this bug named He Yu, they couldn’t gamble on random killing anymore. They could only find the murderer—and only dared kill the murderer.
So finding the murderer became the highest priority.
Naturally, completing NPC tasks became the second-highest priority.
In competitive instances like this, they moved together at night for safety. During the day, they split up to search for clues and complete tasks.
Wanrenzhan was surprisingly lucky.
Not long after separating from the others, he encountered an NPC who could be “helped.”
—The cafeteria uncle.
A supply cart sat parked outside the cafeteria, piled high with goods. The cafeteria uncle stood beside it helplessly, pounding his aching waist while staring despairingly at the cart.
Wanrenzhan was not a helpful person.
Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t have spared the old man a glance.
But this was the competition.
A competition with missions, clues, and rewards.
He walked over, face dark.
“Need help?”
—His tone was incredibly hostile.
The cafeteria uncle jumped in fright and stared at him in surprise.
“You’re a student?”
“No shit!” Wanrenzhan suppressed the anger He Yu had provoked earlier. “I’m a student. Do you need me to move stuff or not?”
“Yes, yes!” The cafeteria uncle hurriedly agreed, too busy to care about the attitude.
Wanrenzhan jumped onto the truck.
“Careful!” the cafeteria uncle cried. “That’s all food in there!”
Wanrenzhan: “...”
“Gentler, gentler! Put that box over there.”
Wanrenzhan: “...”
“That’s the wrong spot. It goes on top.”
“Ah! That box goes in cold storage. You put it wrong again.”
“You stacked it too high. I can’t reach it. Move it over here.”
Wanrenzhan exploded:
“Why the hell are you so damn picky?!”
The cafeteria uncle beamed brightly.
“Young people shouldn’t have such a bad temper. Help me finish moving everything and I’ll give you a little gift.”
Wanrenzhan’s eyes instantly lit up.
All his anger vanished immediately.
He continued moving boxes, enduring all the old man’s orders.
For equipment.
A Federation powerhouse. A former season’s “top-tier star.” Reduced to hauling cargo under the cafeteria uncle’s directions for half a day straight.
By noon, they finally finished.
Wanrenzhan glanced disgustedly at his filthy hands and wiped sweat from his forehead with the back of one hand.
Then he looked toward the cafeteria uncle impatiently.
“Where’s the gift?”
The cafeteria uncle smiled cheerfully and reached into his bag.
Wanrenzhan’s eyes brightened instantly.
—Equipment!
At that moment, a magnetic, slightly hoarse voice sounded nearby:
“Oh? Wanrenzhan’s helping the cafeteria uncle move boxes?”
Wanrenzhan froze.
He Yu walked over smiling and patted Wanrenzhan on the shoulder.
“Very good, very good. Helping others is an excellent virtue for students of Dawn Training School. Selflessly assisting those in need without expecting repayment is a quality every student should possess. This semester, I’ll nominate you for ‘Outstanding Student.’”
The cafeteria uncle nodded vigorously upon hearing that.
“This student may look old, have a bad temper, and a terrible attitude, but he’s actually a very good person. Extremely helpful too, and doesn’t expect repayment.”
As he spoke, he stuffed the equipment he had just taken out back into the bag and withdrew his now-empty hand instead.
The cafeteria uncle smiled warmly at Wanrenzhan.
“Student, your teacher already said it. One of this semester’s ‘Outstanding Student’ awards is definitely yours!”
