This Character is Suspected of Cheating! [Unlimited Flow]
Chapter 269: Ferry Loop (14)“He Yu—!” Wanrenzhan’s eyes nearly split with rage, and he instinctively tried to rush forward. Qiong grabbed him tightly from the side, terrified that any movement from them might cause He Yu to lose his life.
Zhen Xing and Ling Buchen’s expressions changed as they stared fixedly in He Yu’s direction.
Gedai roared furiously, “Tang Ke! What are you doing?!”
Yes, Tang Ke had one hand clamped around He Yu’s windpipe and the other gripping a knife, its sharp tip pressed against He Yu’s neck. Standing behind He Yu, he held him firmly under control, his gaze vicious.
He knew He Yu was difficult to deal with, so he used both hands at once to ensure nothing could go wrong.
Just moments ago, Tang Ke had approached He Yu to ask about where they should stand. He Yu had not been on guard, and neither had Eugene and the others.
At this moment, Eugene was the closest to them. He instinctively raised his mechanical arm, revealing a chainsaw. His expression was ugly, and his voice urgent. “Tang Ke, what are you doing? You want to kill He Yu? Do you not want to live anymore?”
Yuan Ze had a suspicion and raised his voice. “You’re the mole among us?!”
Their commotion startled Duan Yuchen. His hammering faltered slightly, and he tried to turn around and rush over. Yet even while being held hostage, He Yu was still keeping a close eye on him and barked—
“Duan Yuchen, don’t stop!”
It was already 5:10 a.m. Time was extremely tight. There were only two hours and fifty minutes left until eight o’clock. They simply could not afford any delay.
No matter what happened, Duan Yuchen could not stop!
Hearing this, he gritted his teeth and continued forging. Veins bulged across his forehead, flames burning in his chest until his entire body felt scorching hot. With his back to them, he did not dare turn around to look.
But He Yu’s shout startled Tang Ke. The other man tightened his grip, and He Yu’s face turned ashen. Even more blood flowed from his neck, nearly staining his white shirt red.
Wanrenzhan broke free of Qiong, his eyes bloodshot with fury. “How dare you! Let him go!”
Tang Ke tightened his grip around He Yu and dragged him one step backward. He roared, “Nobody come any closer, or I’ll kill He Yu right now!”
Wanrenzhan could only stop. He stood there like a trapped beast, staring fixedly at Tang Ke with eyes that looked ready to devour him alive.
Zhen Xing took a deep breath. Although he desperately wanted to kill Tang Ke, he forced himself to remain calm. The murderous aura in his eyes could not be concealed, and his voice was icy. “Tang Ke, we need He Yu to lead us through this and advance. That’s the only way we can survive. Do you not want to live?”
He had always been calm. Now, although he was barely maintaining that calm, he was already completely at a loss.
Tang Ke’s eyes were bloodshot and filled with pain. “I don’t want to kill him either, but only by killing him can we survive!”
Ling Buchen cautiously moved closer, one hand hidden behind his back, his voice soft. “Why?”
Qiong pursed her lips, which had gone dry from tension. “Right. Why do you want to kill He Yu? Tang Ke, let’s talk this through. We’re a team.”
Eugene’s face was cold. “Even if you’re the mole, if you want to survive, you still can’t kill He Yu, can you?”
Gedai said, “The lifeboat is about to take shape. We have hope of surviving!”
Bo Jingshan silently retreated, attempting to circle around behind Tang Ke.
Tang Ke’s hands were trembling. He himself had no idea just how pained and helpless his expression looked at this moment. He used a shrill voice to conceal his inner struggle, as though only by doing so could he convince himself that he was not wrong—
“Lifeboat? Hahaha, what use is it? Even if we leave on the lifeboat, we’ll still enter another cycle! Besides, there are only ten spots for advancement!”
Yuan Ze softened his voice. “Right, ten spots, two fewer than our number. But look, none of us are worried, because we believe He Yu intends to bring all of us through together...”
“Bullshit!” Tang Ke’s voice grew even sharper. “How could we possibly all advance? We can’t even solve the problem of the cycle! You’ve all guessed it, haven’t you? The person the mastermind wants to kill is He Yu. As long as He Yu is alive, the cycle will continue!”
As though he had finally strengthened his conviction, Tang Ke’s hands stopped trembling as badly as before, and even the struggle on his face diminished. He took a deep breath, his voice turning cold—
“It isn’t difficult to figure out at all. Just like in the previous instances, the mastermind’s main target is He Yu. They only want He Yu dead. The way to break the cycle is incredibly simple—kill He Yu!”
The moment those words fell, the surroundings instantly went silent.
In truth, every one of them could have arrived at the same suspicion. There were no clues about the cycle and they could not find its cause. The person the mastermind most wanted dead was He Yu. As long as He Yu died, perhaps the cycle would end...
Tang Ke stared at all of them. “Kill He Yu, then kill one more person, and we advance. How about it? We have a ship and a way to break the cycle. We’ll definitely advance!”
—He had already become somewhat crazed.
Ever since entering this instance, ever since Zhao Pingqi said that “two people have to be abandoned,” Tang Ke had constantly felt that he would be one of the people abandoned.
That seed had already been planted. Then, trapped in such a tense environment, danger and fear caused the seed to take root and sprout. All it needed was a single opportunity to release the devil hidden inside his heart.
Zhen Xing glanced at Qiong. Qiong immediately understood and raised her voice. “Fine, I agree with you. But I have a question.”
She was stalling for time!
Zhen Xing could not speak. Tang Ke knew that Zhen Xing stood unconditionally on He Yu’s side. If Zhen Xing spoke, Tang Ke would not believe a word of it. So he could only speak through Qiong.
Meanwhile, Bo Jingshan had already circled around toward the rear. Ling Buchen put away his ancient zither and completely suppressed his presence, silently approaching Tang Ke with his natural lack of presence...
Tang Ke asked, “What question?”
Qiong desperately stalled for time. “Why did you choose this moment to make your move? And are you certain killing He Yu will end the cycle? What if killing him doesn’t work and our team loses its brain too? What then?”
She was merely asking random questions to buy time, but Tang Ke stiffened slightly.
He Yu suddenly spoke. “Did you become abnormal because we reached your death node? Did you regain your memories?”
Because of the wound on his neck and the hand gripping his windpipe, He Yu’s voice was extremely hoarse, even very quiet. Yet every word was exceptionally clear. It seemed that whenever he spoke, he could always draw everyone’s attention.
And although his face was ashen, his expression remained remarkably calm, as though he had no idea what kind of situation he was in.
At those words, Tang Ke’s body grew even stiffer.
Clearly, He Yu had guessed correctly.
Tang Ke’s change had been sudden, and so had his behavior. Only reaching his death node and suddenly gaining additional memories could explain such an abrupt change.
He Yu struggled to raise his head and continued, “Eugene’s reminder earlier was correct. Some things in this instance cycle, while others don’t. In that case, how could the me from the previous cycle transmit information to the current me?”
“It would necessarily have to be through something guaranteed to cycle—or rather, something guaranteed to exist. For example—memories of death.”
He Yu took deep breaths. Having his neck squeezed was extremely uncomfortable, but he continued, “Transmit information into the next cycle in the form of death memories. For example, Zhao Pingqi.”
He knew himself best, so it was easy for him to think of this.
Zhao Pingqi’s death memory had been a way for his previous-cycle self to transmit information to his current-cycle self. Then what about after Zhao Pingqi?
He could simply kill people who had never died before, leaving them with “death memories.” Then, in the third cycle, once they reached their death nodes, he would be able to learn the information deduced during the previous cycle!
—Simple, fast, and impossible to stop.
—Exactly his style.
Tang Ke was the first “information carrier” after Zhao Pingqi, but something seemed to have gone slightly wrong. This guy now wanted to kill him...
Even though He Yu’s life was literally in Tang Ke’s hands, he still warned him in the tone of a team captain, “Tang Ke, please be a little smarter and stop doing stupid things. What you should be doing right now is telling me—what information exactly did I have you carry?”
Tang Ke opened his mouth.
Then, dragging He Yu with him, he suddenly flashed aside and avoided Bo Jingshan approaching from behind.
Tang Ke roared, “All of you, back off!”
His hand tightened. He Yu’s complexion became even worse, veins bulging on his forehead. His body was far too fragile, and the agitated Tang Ke failed to notice that He Yu was almost suffocating.
Death wrapped itself around He Yu, and his vision began to darken.
Eugene’s expression was grim, murderous intent flashing across his mechanical face, but his voice softened. “Calm down. If you kill He Yu, we’ll kill you immediately. You’ll still die!”
Gedai muttered furiously, “Fuck, what kind of nonsense are we talking about? He’s the mole who killed Siya. Of course he wants to kill He Yu, even if it means dying together with him...”
Yet Tang Ke was ultimately still afraid of death, and the force of his grip loosened slightly.
He Yu immediately caught his breath and began gulping in air.
Tang Ke regained his composure. He held He Yu tightly in front of himself and vigilantly watched everyone. Even Bo Jingshan could only stop for the moment. Everyone who wanted to launch a sneak attack was afraid to move. Only Ling Buchen, whose presence was nearly nonexistent, continued quietly approaching...
Afraid of provoking Tang Ke, they watched him cautiously.
Tang Ke’s eyes were crazed. “Don’t you want to advance? As long as we break the cycle, we can enter the finals. Once we reach the finals, we’ll have a chance to leave <Top Talent Show> alive.”
His eyes grew bright as he gritted his teeth. “First, kill one person. Then I’ll kill He Yu and break the cycle. After that, we’ll leave on the lifeboat and head to Legendary Island...”
Zhante gritted his teeth. “How many times has He Yu saved you? Without He Yu, you would have died long ago.”
—What a fucking ungrateful bastard.
Qiong’s face was cold. “Tang Ke, have you forgotten that we’re a team? He Yu will find a way. We should trust He Yu, just like we always have.”
Tang Ke said, “None of you have awakened your death memories yet, have you?”
He suddenly laughed. “Then you definitely don’t know how painful death is. It isn’t physical pain. It’s the desperate yearning to live in that final second... I don’t want to die. I want to live. I just want to live!”
He had gained his death memories. Those memories contained not only the information He Yu had told him, but also the agony of the moment of death.
In truth, they had all died once in the <Are We Teammates?> instance, but death in that instance had been one hundred percent guaranteed to be temporary. During the previous cycle, however, the existence of “another cycle afterward” had only been a hypothesis. Their deaths might have been real.
There had been no physical pain, but the mental terror had been overwhelming.
He Yu had been certain there would be another cycle, and Tang Ke had accepted that. But at the moment of death, he had still been consumed by endless regret.
What if there was no next cycle?
What if He Yu simply wanted to eliminate him?!
That fear and pain had carried over through his death memories into the current Tang Ke.
Tang Ke did not want to die.
He wanted to live.
He Yu was their team captain and had saved their lives countless times. Unless there was absolutely no other choice, Tang Ke did not want to kill him.
But clearly—
He Yu was the cause of the cycle!
Only by killing He Yu could they survive.
Tang Ke’s voice was filled with temptation—
“Aren’t you tempted? Kill him, end the cycle, and we can enter the finals and fight for the ultimate victory. We survived so many difficult instances. Do you really want to die here?”
“This is <Top Talent Show>. This is a place where there is nothing but killing and fighting! There is only one spot for survival. In a place like this, anyone who tries to protect others is destined to die. Why should you sacrifice yourselves for someone else?”
“Haven’t you all guessed that He Yu is the cause of the cycle? If you have, then why are you hiding it? Zhen Xing, Wanrenzhan, Ling Buchen, Bo Jingshan—I know you’re willing to die for He Yu.”
“But Eugene, Gedai, Duan Yuchen, Qiong, Yuan Ze, Zhante—what about you? Are you willing to die for him too?”
Zhen Xing pursed his lips. He knew Tang Ke had already gone mad, almost completely losing his reason. But what worried him even more was—
The other six people Tang Ke had **.
Gedai suddenly asked, “What exactly do you want to do?”
Tang Ke dragged He Yu over beside the black corrosive **, his hand still clamped tightly around He Yu’s neck. He swept his gaze over everyone.
“Zhen Xing, Ling Buchen, Wanrenzhan, Bo Jingshan—you four have to die. Otherwise, I’ll kill He Yu right now!”
