This Character is Suspected of Cheating! [Unlimited Flow]
Chapter 35: Dawn Training School (20)He Yu looked utterly helpless.
Spreading his hands, with his glasses resting casually on the bridge of his nose, he drawled lazily:
“But unfortunately, this time, I really don’t have a single clue.”
The three of them: “......”
[Barrage: “......”]
Wanrenzhan’s eyes widened as he stared at him.
“Then how dare you promise three days? Are you gambling that within those three days you’ll gain enough votes to advance safely?!”
He Yu blinked innocently.
“I said three days because the Cafeteria Uncle can only survive for five. I should at least let him personally take revenge before he dies, right? Wanrenzhan, be kind.”
Wanrenzhan: “......”
Eugene and Zhen Xing: “......”
Smoke practically puffed from Wanrenzhan’s nostrils.
“Kind my ass!!”
Eugene sighed weakly.
“Fine. Then let’s just find the eighth perpetrator together.”
Finding the eighth perpetrator was definitely harder than finding the murderer.
That person had hidden beneath the eyes of five s-rank experts for three entire months. Whether mentally or in terms of cleaning up traces, they had done everything perfectly.
And they knew absolutely nothing about them.
Everyone who knew the truth was already dead.
Trying to locate a hidden perpetrator among the entire third-year population—with such a huge range and so little information—was incredibly difficult.
They split up again.
Eugene, Zhen Xing, and Wanrenzhan separated to investigate individually. Dawn Training School’s third-year division only had three classes total. Zhen Xing and Wanrenzhan went to investigate Classes Two and Three.
He Yu remained in Class One, while Eugene, acting like a robot, went off to investigate additional clues.
Since Qiong was gone, they had no way to crack the smart-brain systems and could only rely on crude methods.
“How’s He Yu planning to investigate?”
“I’m actually starting to look forward to He Yu’s investigations now. I always feel like he’ll uncover something unexpected.”
“More like analyze something nobody else notices!”
“Same thing.”
...
He Yu’s livestream hung prominently in the very center of the Featured Viewing Zone.
Contestants who advanced early could watch livestreams in the transfer station. However, unlike viewers, they couldn’t see detailed contestant information like combat power, equipment, and stats.
They could only watch the instance livestream itself.
Even so, none of the <Top Talent Show> contestants were willing to miss such a valuable chance to observe others.
Before entering the competition, most well-known competitors already had their names spread among contestants.
That was why, when everyone saw He Yu’s livestream occupying the center of the viewing area, they froze for a moment, eyes full of confusion.
“Uh... who’s that?”
“No idea. Why does he have such insane viewership?”
“Oh, wait, I remember now! Isn’t that the guy with the highest popularity during the preliminary auditions?”
“It really is him. His popularity in this instance is still this high?”
“Is he that strong? Why’ve I never heard of him before?”
“Blue Star? What kind of trash planet is that?”
...
At that moment, someone appeared.
He looked refined and handsome, yet strangely, nobody looked at him when he appeared. Not even a stray glance landed on him. Even when he walked directly beside others, they acted as though he didn’t exist.
“This one’s from Blue Star too?” At the front of the crowd, a tall figure stopped and frowned slightly.
The refined young man spoke up:
“He Yu? That name sounds familiar. Maybe we knew each other before.”
The tall figure jumped in fright and stared at him in shock.
“Ling Buchen! Why do you always suddenly appear out of nowhere like that?!”
Ling Buchen said gloomily:
“...Zhante, I’ve been following you the whole time.”
Zhante: “???”
He inhaled deeply.
“Take off your equipment already.”
Ling Buchen replied immediately:
“No. I like this feeling.”
His gaze landed on He Yu on the screen as he rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
“Fellow countryman... hopefully we can cooperate.”
Zhante immediately answered:
“Then go cooperate with him. Stop following me.”
After speaking, Zhante hurriedly turned around and fled, his retreat carrying a faint sense of panic.
Ling Buchen looked at Zhante’s departing figure, then at He Yu on the screen, visibly conflicted.
In the end, he chose to stay.
Standing at the very bottom of the projection, he remained completely unnoticed by everyone around him.
Another crowd arrived, squeezing him into the middle while two people even conversed directly across him as though he weren’t there.
“Who even is this guy? Another garbage-planet contestant?”
“Fuck, why does he have such ridiculous viewership?”
“Huh? Isn’t this supposedly the terrifying <Dawn Training School> instance? Wanrenzhan, Zhen Xing, and Eugene are all inside it too.”
“If they’re all in the same instance, then why’s his viewership even higher than Eugene’s and the others’?”
“What gives him the right?”
...
The contestants’ voices dripped with jealousy.
Off in a distant corner, Gedai and the others sat together with complicated expressions.
“He earned it through ability. These people have no idea how terrifying that skinny guy is,” Cheng Zhao sighed emotionally. “He Yu may not have been famous before, but honestly, his strength absolutely can’t be underestimated.”
Yuan Ze suddenly asked:
“Has anyone here actually fought him before?”
Gedai answered:
“Only Wanrenzhan attacked him before. He got redirected away by that Taiji circle.”
Tang Ke frowned.
“So... what exactly is his combat power?”
Cheng Zhao replied thoughtfully:
“It definitely can’t be low. Otherwise he wouldn’t have been able to drag all of us around by the nose together with those s-rank npcs...”
Annie turned toward Qiong.
“Why aren’t you saying anything?”
Qiong stared at the screen darkly.
“I want to see exactly how He Yu advances... and exactly how he reaches his deductions.”
Immediately, everyone fell silent and focused seriously on the projection.
—Because they were all curious too.
—
The heavily watched He Yu, however, didn’t do anything shocking at all.
He obediently taught class, even randomly calling students up to recite content from <Basic Principles of Combat Power Development>. He practically called every student’s name at least once.
But after class ended, he didn’t leave.
Standing at the podium, He Yu swept his gaze across the classroom before asking calmly:
“A lot of people weren’t paying attention this class. Is it because you’re transferring schools, so you think there’s no need to study seriously anymore?”
The students below froze slightly.
No one spoke.
He Yu continued:
“Let me remind you. Even if you’re transferring schools, as long as you remain here for one day, then for that day you are still students. You still need to fulfill your responsibilities and duties.”
Still, nobody answered.
Suddenly, He Yu’s gaze sharpened.
“Answer me.”
“...Understood,” someone muttered weakly.
He Yu said flatly:
“Louder.”
“UNDERSTOOD!”
The students answered in unison.
He Yu nodded calmly. He gave the classroom another long, meaningful look before turning and leaving.
Outside the classroom, Eugene, Zhen Xing, and Wanrenzhan were already waiting.
Holding his books under one arm, He Yu leisurely approached them.
Wanrenzhan looked extremely dissatisfied.
“There are only three days left, and you still had the mood to teach students?!”
He Yu answered calmly:
“As long as they remain students for a day, they’ll attend class for a day. Same for me.”
Wanrenzhan was about to continue arguing when Eugene interrupted him, lowering his voice.
“Let’s combine our information first.”
He Yu nodded.
Eugene said:
“I checked the archives and compiled a list of students with powerful family backgrounds. To avoid missing anyone, I widened the range, so the list’s pretty long.”
He Yu’s smart-brain received the list Eugene sent over. Zhen Xing and Wanrenzhan received it too.
But merely looking at names didn’t reveal much.
Wanrenzhan flipped through it impatiently.
“There have to be over thirty people here. Are we seriously investigating them one by one?”
Zhen Xing said nothing, simply lowering his head to study the list.
Suddenly, He Yu raised an eyebrow.
“I noticed something.”
“What?” the others looked toward him immediately.
He Yu said:
“In all three classes, aside from the Study Representatives being chosen according to grades, the other class committee members are all on the list. Especially the class presidents, vice presidents, and discipline committee members—their backgrounds are all extremely influential.”
The others nodded, agreeing with the observation.
He Yu put away the list and looked toward Zhen Xing and Wanrenzhan.
“What about you two? Find anything?”
Zhen Xing shook his head.
“Nothing obvious through direct observation. Nobody behaved strangely.”
Wanrenzhan, however, pointed toward the sports committee member emerging from the back door of Class Three.
“Could it be him? He looks hot-tempered. Feels like a murderer.”
He Yu glanced at him calmly.
“I think you look more like one.”
Wanrenzhan: “......”
He endured it, then pointed at another person.
“What about that one? Always sleeping in the last row, super mysterious. Definitely suspicious.”
He Yu: “Oh.”
Wanrenzhan kept enduring.
Taking a deep breath, he pointed again.
“Then what about him?” He pointed at the Study Representative.
He Yu: “......”
Eugene and Zhen Xing: “......”
Wanrenzhan glared.
“What?! Why can’t it be him? Maybe he’s crying thief to catch thief. Plus he looks creepy as hell. Totally suspicious.”
Right as the words fell, the Study Representative walked past them expressionlessly, radiating gloom. As he passed, he only left behind one sentence:
“Remember the three-day agreement.”
Eugene patted Wanrenzhan on the shoulder.
“Anyone else you wanna accuse?”
Wanrenzhan pointed toward the class president exiting through the front door of Class One.
“What about him? He annoys me too.”
He Yu: “Oh.”
Wanrenzhan’s voice rose.
“Can you give a proper response?!”
The class president walking past them suddenly reprimanded sternly:
“Wanrenzhan, respect your teachers.”
Wanrenzhan: “......”
The class president coldly glanced at him before respectfully greeting He Yu:
“Teacher He.”
He Yu smiled and nodded.
The class president gave Wanrenzhan one final warning look before leaving.
“Pfft—”
Eugene burst out laughing while Wanrenzhan darkened his face and stopped talking entirely.
After laughing enough, Eugene sighed.
“Honestly, I kinda feel the same. Since we have no clues at all, everyone looks suspicious... but at the same time nobody does.”
He was genuinely worried.
Could they really find the eighth perpetrator within three days?
That person had hidden themselves far too well.
After thinking for a moment, He Yu suddenly said:
“Don’t you think we should change our angle of approach?”
“What do you mean?”
“We still don’t know the reason the eight people committed the crime. But they absolutely had a target. Or rather... the mastermind had a target.”
“Anna!” Eugene answered immediately.
“Exactly. Anna.” He Yu pushed up his glasses while narrowing his eyes slightly beneath the sunlight pouring into the hallway. “Anna’s family accepted a settlement. You Mo got dragged into everything accidentally, and You Mo’s father is now taking revenge for her. So naturally, all our attention shifted onto You Mo.”
Zhen Xing frowned slightly.
“You mean our focus should now shift back onto Anna?”
Wanrenzhan looked doubtful.
“Would that even help? Investigating Anna won’t tell us why the murderer targeted her.”
He Yu answered without hesitation:
“No. Since the culprit could erase smart-brain records, they definitely erased other clues too.”
“Then what exactly do you mean?”
He Yu’s eyes narrowed faintly.
“We might be able to use Anna to flush the murderer out. As long as we provoke a different reaction, I can drag him into the open.”
Eugene’s eyes lit up.
“We can get someone to pretend to be Anna!”
Then, as if suddenly remembering something, he smacked his forehead in frustration.
“Damn it, if Qiong were still here, she’d be perfect for impersonating Anna.”
Zhen Xing’s gaze slowly shifted toward He Yu.
Eugene froze briefly before also turning to look at him.
He Yu: “......”
Expressionless, he turned around immediately.
“I think there are probably other methods. Let me think about it some more.”
But Zhen Xing and Eugene instantly grabbed him from both sides, grinning brightly—
“Teacher He, sacrifice yourself a little.”
“You’re skinny enough, and your figure’s kinda similar to a girl’s anyway. You’re even about the same height as Anna too.”
