This Heroine's Friend Has the Power of Botany
Chapter 259: True CatastropheChapter 259
True Catastrophe
"Hoom!" After leading the Urzidar Giant Bear several kilometers away, Ellie ordered her little Apple to stop. She surveyed the surroundings, confirming they were in a deep forest with no one hiding nearby. It seemed the enemy was very confident in the prowess of the Urzidar Giant Bear. Meanwhile, the hunters of the Ares Kingdom believed that Luke was merely buying time with his life. Therefore, while Luke performed his duty, they needed to deal with the enemy as swiftly as possible. As a result, no one from either side followed or kept an eye on them.
"Alright, how about we have a real fight this time?" Ellie laughed. Under normal circumstances, she would be extremely cautious. However, this situation was different.
This was a state of war, with battles raging everywhere. So, no one had the time to scrutinize her. Ah...actually, she had left one person that she was unaware of his movements. Perhaps that person might be watching secretly, but even if so, it didn’t matter. He knew everything about her and supported her in concealing things from others. Hence, Ellie didn’t need to hide her abilities from him.
Tiny spores were sent forward. They couldn’t do anything to the Urzidar Giant Bear because they were still dispersing as spore level 1.
When more spores gathered, they formed small purple mushrooms, also starting at level 1. The Urzidar Giant Bear didn’t even realize that Ellie was summoning her powers to prepare for the fight.
The Urzidar Giant Bear roared one last time to intimidate its enemy before lunging at the little Apple’s body immediately. The impact caused the little Apple to stagger backward. Even so, it had a resilient body that could withstand the attack. Although it couldn’t match the bear’s strength, the bear’s sharp claws, which could easily deal with other beasts, couldn’t penetrate the little Apple’s body at all.
Boom!!
The 2nd poison bomb of the day was deployed. Ellie used the chaotic moment to escape up a tree. The Urzidar Giant Bear sensed the use of poison but showed no fear. A level 2 poison, on the verge of becoming level 3, couldn’t harm a level 4 beast like it. It only caused some confusion.
However, just when it became complacent, the massive beast suddenly vanished. The Urzidar Giant Bear snapped out of its confusion only to be bewildered once more. How could the enemy’s shadow be right in front of it one moment and then disappear the next!
But just as it was trying to comprehend the situation, its body suddenly stumbled. Its previously steady feet were now unstable, as if something had undermined its balance. It turned out that the little Apple had shrunk itself to the size of a thumb and hidden under the bear’s foot. Using the moment of its enemy’s unawareness, the little Apple expanded its body, causing the bear to topple over.
The Urzidar Giant Bear had never encountered such an opponent before. It couldn’t understand what had happened. Being a beast, it possessed more intelligence than other beasts but still not as much as the plant bonded to Ellie’s spirit.
As soon as the enemy fell, the little Apple leapt onto its body with great force. Of course, the Urzidar Giant Bear wasn’t greatly affected, but this was not the only attack Ellie had.
Before long, a shadow appeared, transforming into the small Purple Mushroom, now summoning its allies to form a mass larger than 3x3 meters.
- Small Purple Mushroom, Level 4: If fed sufficiently, it can transform into a mother mushroom.
Action Panel
Option One: Disperse into small spores.
Option Two: Attack target with poisonous acid.
Option Three: Digest the target and convert it into food.
Option Four: Enter a weightless state. -
With stubby arms akimbo, the image seen through the spiritual bond, it looked delighted. Since this big guy intended to bully its younger brother, it would have to be dealt with decisively. Finally, the power never used before was summoned now...
"Option two: Attack target with poisonous acid," Ellie commanded. Immediately, level 4 poisonous acid flowed into the nostrils of the Urzidar Giant Bear. The little Apple pinned its massive body down, preventing it from easily rising, while the little Purple Mushroom jumped in, pressing its thick bottom onto the bear’s nose and mouth.
Since the level 2 poison from the bonded plant was ineffective, they switched to using poison from a level 4 bonded plant!
However, after being attacked like this, the Urzidar Giant Bear was still for more than 3 seconds before its body began to twitch alarmingly. Sensing something was wrong, Ellie quickly dispersed the Purple Mushroom into spores and called the little Apple back. Her quick thinking paid off because just 1 second later, the body of the Urzidar Giant Bear exploded with a tremendous noise.
"What happened?"
"That sound of battle—did something happen to the Demon Frog Warrior!?"
"Impossible. With that ability, shouldn’t he have been able to escape much farther, at the very least?" While the hunters of the Ares Kingdom were confused, the soldiers of the Rhea Kingdom were gripped with fear.
“Th-that’s the sound of its explosion, right?”
“Damn it!! Who would have thought a single hunter could deal with it! Don’t they know they’re courting disaster!”
“W-What should we do? Die. We’re all going to die!” The soldiers of the Rhea Kingdom suddenly began retreating in the midst of battle, even their commander was stressed.
“Who would’ve thought it would be dealt with so quickly. What should we do now?” one of the high-ranking leaders asked. Though he still wanted to fight and achieve victory, staying meant they would only become playthings for the enemy.
“What else can we do!? Retreat to the city immediately! If anyone is slow and ends up dead, they can consider themselves sacrificial fodder for them!”
The commander paid no attention to anything else. Given the situation, he could only let things take their course. What else could he do? From now on, this forest, this city, would have to be called the City of Catastrophe!
"Ah!! Retreat!! Hurry back to the city!!" Those who received the orders seemed to have been waiting for them. They immediately waved the retreat flags, which greatly confused the hunters of the Ares Kingdom.
"How can they suddenly retreat? There’s no indication yet of who the victor or loser will be."
"What’s happening? This must not be normal. Do they know something?"
"They clearly showed fear. As soon as they heard the explosion, they quickly retreated."
"They’re retreating in such fear. Is there something that scared them?" They all discussed this among themselves. Even though they wanted to pursue and deal with the fleeing soldiers, they also sensed something was wrong. They didn’t know what it was, but their instincts told them that soon this place would be drenched in blood!
As the battle situation evolved, Ellie, who was still near the explosion, was flung far away. If it weren’t for the little Apple expanding its body to absorb the impact, she might have suffered internal injuries from the explosion.
"Cough, cough." As the dust cleared by breeze, Ellie quickly drank a restorative potion. The little Apple, still intact, turned to look behind them, revealing a scene that left them both deeply shocked.
After the death of 1 life, who would have thought that the Rhea Kingdom would have such a vile plan! The Urzidar Giant Bear was already dangerous enough to destroy an army of 4,000-5,000 from the Ares Kingdom, but they had another evil plan in place!
Once their secret card was destroyed, it triggered a secondary mechanism. This mechanism activated a teleportation magic circle. Who would have thought that within the body of the Urzidar Giant Bear, there was a high-level teleportation device hiding!
When it activated, beasts of various sizes emerged from the Urzidar Giant Bear’s body. They destroyed the bear’s internal organs that obstructed them and stepped out one by one, seemingly without end.
Ellie examined them. Each beast was a mindless creature, yet the information indicated they had all been specially evolved, though defective, reaching levels 2-3. This meant they had taken level 1 or 2 beasts and evolved them in large numbers.
These beasts, upon emerging, didn’t just seek enemies; some even killed each other. Their eyes blazed with a terrifying red. Judging by their current behavior, besides their desire to fight and their madness, there was no other emotion!
“This is insane!”
With so many beasts, even if the entire Setter family were brought in, they couldn’t eradicate them. And it seemed this wasn’t all. If their exit wasn’t sealed off, this catastrophe might never end!
"Spirit Rake, activate Option One. Channel botanic magic power into the tool to break down objects!" Ellie summoned her high-level weapon. The little Purple Mushroom was only at level 4 and might not be able to destroy the magical device. Ellie decided not to hide her rake any longer. This situation called for revealing her power!
A large black rake appeared. Upon receiving the command, it floated forward, ignoring the foolish beasts staring at it. It simply floated forward and decomposed the green area that Ellie had designated. The operation of this command was quite difficult and inflexible. If possible, Ellie preferred to use the little Purple Mushroom, as the rake’s decomposition couldn’t target small details. Like this time, for speed, Ellie could only use the default command to work on the square area.
A level 5 magical device was extremely valuable. Despite the beasts’ attempts to attack, it continued decomposing without a hitch. Eventually, the rake gradually destroyed the magical device. The last beast trying to emerge, deemed waste for decomposition, was killed in the process.
Once decomposition was complete, tiny spores hurriedly gathered to feast on the remains. After all, the magical device contained precious components. It was no surprise the little spores quickly swarmed the food in front of them.
After completing its task, the Spirit Rake floated back to Ellie. However, its actions also revealed the girl’s location.
Over 100 ferocious beasts, more than half at level 2 and the rest at a frightening level 3, made the girl feel a severe headache. Yet, before she could issue a new command to the rake, she sensed some hunters heading her way. Ellie had no choice but to put away the signature weapon of "Student Ellie" and summon the "Microbial Spirit Orb" instead.
Before the hunters arrived, a level 3 beast reached Ellie first. It resembled a praying mantis but was much larger than a cow, making the sharpness of its legs extremely dangerous.
The little Apple knew what to do. Seeing that its master had put away the Spirit Rake, it shrank itself and then expanded again, allowing Ellie to sit safely on its back once more. With its resilient body, it immediately clashed with the green mantis in front of it.
However, different types of beasts had different abilities. The Urzidar Giant Bear excelled in strength, so when it struck the little Apple, its claws couldn’t do much. It could be said that its sharpness was only a secondary combat power, so it couldn’t surpass the little Apple’s supreme toughness.
In contrast, the mantis before them, despite being level 3, had its main strength in the sharpness of its front legs. So, no matter how tough the little Apple’s hide was, it still got injured!
"Little Apple!"
