Three Divine Wishes: Yes, I'm OP!
Chapter 280: When The Night... Falls (9)CLANG!!!!
CLANG!!!!
CLANG!!!!
’This... many.’ Melvin thought as he found himself high in the skies, in the middle of at least fifty million Masked Humans, all encircling him, all coming at once.
Yet even with that staggering number, his total power output sat where only a few in this current existence could defend against it.
So even as his mind reeled from the fact of so many Loria humans—who were more accurately Masked Humans—he was still fighting, still defending, almost like it was second nature.
’How... could there always be this many?’
HUMMMMM!!!!!!
In that moment, the members of the Smiling Court erupted one after another as they each activated innate powers and skills.
Out of nowhere, gold chains whipped through the air, snapping toward Melvin in a sudden attempt to lock him down.
In the wide expanse around him, black slashes tore through the skies like rents in the fabric of reality, hurling spears born from charm that had solidified into cold, unyielding force.
As that power erupted all around, Melvin was caught up in a relentless clash, facing one Human opponent after another in rapid succession.
But when those earlier powers converged on him, he shifted with precision, his Battle Art flaring to life in full, propelling him into motion with an instinctive surge.
HUMMMMMM!!!!!
Afterimages were left in the thousands as blizzards burst into existence each time he moved, distorting sight, distorting range, turning clean angles into pure confusion.
SSHKKKK!!!!!
SSHKKK!K!!!!
And Melvin... he wasn’t just avoiding attacks; he was on the hunt.
Every time he shifted, he’d pop up in the midst of another cluster of Masked Humans, his arm-blade already tearing through thousands in one sweeping motion.
By the time he vanished, the crowd was frozen solid, and shards of ice were already tumbling from the sky.
Yet, no matter how many fell, the Masked Humans kept pouring in, relentless as ever.
And... Perhaps that was the most hectic part of it all.
They didn’t pause to tally their losses; No, they were too focused on taking him down with every weapon and ounce of strength they could muster.
It was not because they regarded Melvin as some eternal adversary—on the contrary, they knew nothing of the man who was presently cutting them down as though their lives held no value.
Perhaps, if they had even a faint understanding of who he truly was and the extent of his capabilities, they might have surrendered without resistance.
However, their unyielding resolve—the fervent drive to end Melvin’s life—was fueled solely by the Smiling God’s command and nothing more.
Still, no matter what they hurled his way, it all met the edge of a sword that spoke for itself, its presence felt in every quick, silent strike.
----
Far in the distance, the Smiling God watched with a deep frown as the crowd of millions surrounding the boy thinned at an alarming pace, even as more of his troops continued streaming through the portal.
’This young man,’ he thought to himself, baffled by the sight before him, for it was nothing like what should have been possible.
It wasn’t merely fifty million Masked Humans falling to Melvin’s hand—every single one of them was a seasoned Cosmic Union expert—yet Melvin was cutting them down as effortlessly as if the Court itself were nothing more than a practice field.
’How is he so much stronger than even... me?’
The Smiling God was no weakling, and he knew that although the Cosmic Union stood at the pinnacle of the Universe, not every expert was equal.
Battle Power was the biggest factor in those differences, yet he had never imagined such overwhelming strength could exist within a Cosmic Union expert.
He was certainly far stronger than his own troops, but to single-handedly slaughter them all?
That would take far more than just skill with a sword.
But it wasn’t just that which kept him here...
’I need to fulfill my mission,’ he told himself, watching more and more of his subordinates fall.
Melvin’s display was nothing short of astounding—perhaps even beyond that word—but to him, those subordinates were merely pawns, tools to achieve his end goal.
The only thing anchoring his focus now was reaching that portal.
Yet he knew that if he left, Melvin would have free rein to wreak havoc on his Pantheon, putting his Empress—still unprepared—at grave risk.
At least, that’s what he believed...
’Don’t worry about them,’ the Empress’s voice appeared in his mind as he stood there in the skies.
’I will protect the Pantheon. Go find out what is so special about that mountain.’
At the sound of her voice, his eyes widened briefly before a smile spread across his face. He gave a nod.
"As you say, my Empress," he replied, and in the next instant, he launched himself toward the portal.
And as he left through the portal, it was in that same moment that Melvin’s eyes completely iced over.
’...Just... kill them all!’
The thought ran through his mind as he gave up trying to figure out how so many Loria were still alive.
He pushed the question aside and focused on the task at hand.
With a single thought, he summoned the Dreamer’s Mask from his divine ring. Then, in one smooth motion, he placed it over his face—and in the blink of an eye, he vanished from sight.
All that remained was the chill of winter, shards of falling ice, and an army swinging their weapons at nothing but empty air where he had stood moments before.
----
Deep within the Pantheon’s stronghold, the Empress lounged in her shimmering illusion beside the shackled Death Siren.
The smoky black haze clung to the air around her, curling and shifting with each breath.
Her eyes, dark as the deepest abyss, remained locked on the chaos in the distance—on the very spot where Melvin had just slipped away from the grasp of fifty million desperate hands.
HUMMMM!!!!
She raised one hand, and with a casual flick of her fingers, conjured a black petal into existence.
It shimmered briefly before dissolving into tiny glowing motes, drifting lazily along a current that didn’t belong to the stronghold’s usual air.
A faint smile curved her lips.
"He’s far too good just to let go."
