Three Systems Made the Fake Heiress Unstoppable
Chapter 118: Suffering the Bitter ConsequencesChapter 118: Chapter 118: Suffering the Bitter Consequences
Brooke York suddenly felt a sharp cramp in her stomach. The familiar pain told her exactly what she needed to do. She put down her cup and rushed to the first-floor restroom.
"Brooke, what’s wrong?" Seeing Brooke’s sudden reaction, Alice Cole, who had been waiting for Chloe’s stomachache to kick in, forgot all about her and hurried over to check on the situation.
Chloe couldn’t bring herself to eat anymore either. After all, she wasn’t one for such gross theatrics. She wiped her mouth with a napkin, stood up, slung her backpack over her shoulder, and left the living room.
Once outside the villa, she called for a private car to take her to the exam site. She had paid an extra hundred yuan for the driver to come right up to the house to pick her up.
Before getting in, Chloe glanced at a small car parked nearby. The driver inside was fast asleep.
That was the car Brooke had arranged to take herself to the exam site.
’Oh, Brooke, Brooke. Since you tried to keep me from taking the college entrance exam, I have to return the favor. A punishment that makes you miss the exam is the only way you’ll learn your lesson and think twice before messing with me again.’
She got into the car, which then sped off. As they drove, Chloe called Mr. Parker to let him know she was traveling separately and wouldn’t be on the school bus.
「At the school gate」 The students taking the college entrance exam were already on the bus, ready to depart for the testing center.
"What’s going on? Why isn’t Brooke York here yet?"
Mr. Parker asked after taking attendance and noticing Brooke York was absent.
When no one answered, Mr. Parker had to get off the bus to make a phone call.
Clara Bell scanned the bus. Besides Brooke, Chloe was also missing. ’I can’t believe Brooke actually managed to keep Chloe from taking the exam.’
’She suddenly messaged me with instructions yesterday. So this is why!’
’And it seems the homeroom teacher didn’t even ask why Chloe is missing.’
Mr. Parker called Alice Cole, but the phone rang and rang until it automatically disconnected. No one picked up. He had even less luck with Miles York—his phone was off.
With no other options, Mr. Parker got back on the bus.
"Sir, if she’s not here, let’s just go. We’re going to be late."
"That’s right, Sir. She’s a daughter of the York Family. Her parents are probably driving her," the students chimed in. Worried they would be late for the exam, they all began to urge Mr. Parker to get going.
"Sir, let’s just go to the testing center. I’m sure Brooke’s parents are driving her," Clara Bell said, recalling Brooke’s instructions.
’Although she didn’t know why Brooke herself hadn’t shown up, Brooke had told her she would find a way to keep Chloe from making it. All Clara had to do was convince the teacher to leave immediately when he asked why Chloe was absent.’
’As for the teacher asking about Brooke instead of Chloe, she figured he just randomly picked a name since they were family. He probably assumed the York Family was driving them both, so he wouldn’t ask any more questions.’
"Alright then, let’s get going!" Since Clara had said that, and Chloe had already called to say she was making her own way there, Mr. Parker figured Brooke, being from the same prominent family, was also getting a ride from her parents.
Chloe arrived well before her classmates. She went to her assigned exam room, had the proctor check her documents, and after everything was confirmed to be in order, she entered, sat down, and waited for the test to begin.
「Meanwhile, the York residence was in total chaos.」
"Brooke, how are you going to take the exam like this?" Alice Cole could already smell a foul odor just standing next to her.
"I have to go! I absolutely have to!" Brooke insisted. "Chloe doesn’t have her admission ticket, so she can’t take the test either." If she didn’t go, her future would be ruined.
But she hadn’t taken two steps before her stomach cramped violently. Feeling an unstoppable urge, she shoved Alice aside and ran for the bathroom.
Of course, it wasn’t long before Alice had a reaction of her own. When the stomach pains first hit, she didn’t immediately connect the dots. It was only after her second frantic trip to the bathroom that she realized she’d been dosed as well.
On the verge of collapsing from dehydration, Brooke wished she could just pass out on the toilet. Her hatred for Chloe had reached a fever pitch.
"Chloe, you bitch! I’ll make you regret what you did to me today! I won’t let you get away with this!" As soon as Brooke finished her vicious threat, another wave hit her with torrential force.
Tears and snot streamed down her face.
Alice was in a similar state. She heard her phone ringing but had no strength to answer it.
Miles York was still sound asleep, completely oblivious to everything that was going on.
「When the morning exam ended」 Chloe York, Ethan Prescott, and Evan Shaw walked out of the testing center together.
Reporters immediately swarmed them for an interview, but bodyguards sent by Ethan’s and Evan’s families intervened, helping Chloe escape the media scrum as well.
None of them seemed willing to be interviewed. Chloe, for her part, hated being asked about the test before the scores were even released.
Unable to get an interview, the reporters resorted to taking photos of the trio.
By that afternoon, all three were in the news. Stories about them being whisked away from reporters by bodyguards were all over the internet.
The effects of the sleeping pills finally wore off, and Miles York woke up.
The moment he woke up, he knew something was wrong. He vaguely remembered passing out during breakfast. He quickly checked his phone and found it was turned off.
He turned it on and saw a missed call from Mr. Parker. He called the number back as he hurried downstairs.
Downstairs, the breakfast dishes were all cleared away, but the room was empty.
Just then, he heard a toilet flush. Miles walked toward the first-floor restroom, and as he got closer, he noticed a foul odor and noises coming from inside.
He knocked on the door. "Who’s in there?"
"It’s me," came Alice’s weak voice from within.
"What’s wrong? And where are Chloe and Brooke?"
A moment later, the door opened, and a disgusting odor assaulted him. Miles recoiled, a look of utter disgust on his face.
"Honey, that Chloe is a monster! She drugged us! Brooke is upstairs with horrible diarrhea—there’s no way she can take the exam now!"
"What?"
Miles glanced at the time on his phone. The morning exam session was already over. Brooke had actually missed it.
He bounded up the stairs. Alice tried to follow, but a loud gurgle from her stomach made it clear she wasn’t going anywhere. She had no choice but to retreat back into the restroom.
By this point, Brooke was feeling slightly better. The attacks were less frequent, and she was lying in bed, trying to regain her strength.
The door was suddenly thrown open with a BANG. Brooke scrambled to sit up and saw Miles storm into the room, his face a mask of fury.
"Dad!" Brooke cried out, frightened.
"Brooke, oh, Brooke. You’ve reaped what you sowed."
"Dad, what are you talking about? I don’t understand."
"You don’t understand? I knew you were being too nice last night, inviting Chloe to stay over. It was all a plot to give her diarrhea today so she’d miss the exam."
"No, Dad, you’re wrong! I really did want to get along with Chloe! Besides, I’m the one who’s sick, not her!"
