“Miss Julia went with her too.”

“The kid too?”

“Yes.”

“Then what about me?”

“Huh?”

“Why didn’t she bring me along?”

“Uh...”

...Why would she bring you along?

Jay barely managed to keep herself from asking that question. Instead, she smiled awkwardly.

“This... this is impossible.”

Trembling, Cheion moved to a corner of the shop and sat down. Then, he immediately opened his subspace and took out something.

It was a communication orb. After seeing Ceres with one before, he had pestered her until she finally gave him her connection code.

Wooooong—

The communication orb hummed as a red light flashed. A moment later, the red glow turned green, signaling that the connection had been established.

“Ceres!”

[What is it?]

“—!”

Cheion had expected to hear Ceres’s voice, so the unfamiliar voice that answered made his eyes widen.

“I called Ceres. Why are you answering?!”

How could he not recognize that voice? It belonged to that damn frozen human, the one with the arrogant, annoying, and unbearably cold voice!

[Because we’re together.]

“Together...”

Cheion trembled at Kainel’s reply.

“Where is Ceres?”

[Get to the point.]

“I have nothing to say to you!”

[Then I’ll hang up.]

“Aaaahhh! Why?! What do you mean, hang up?! Who said you could hang up?! Who gave you permission?!”

Cheion jumped to his feet. If Kainel were standing in front of him, he would’ve grabbed him by the collar and shaken him.

“Why did Ceres go there?”

[Because I came here.]

“......”

Cheion was momentarily speechless at Kainel’s shameless answer, as if he had asked something completely obvious.

Cheion’s face twisted in frustration. He grabbed the communication orb and shouted.

“Just wait there!”

[You’re telling me to wait?]

A mocking laugh came through before the communication was cut off.

“.......”

Still trembling, Cheion gripped the disconnected communication orb before turning his head toward Jay.

“Can I ask you for a favor?”

“Huh? A favor?”

“It’s nothing difficult. You only need to deliver a letter to the Magic Tower.”

“.....? Yes.”

Since it wasn’t a difficult request, Jay immediately nodded.

However, after closing the shop and stopping by the Magic Tower that evening, she immediately regretted agreeing to his request.

“So...”

Standing before Cheion’s secretary, Luca, Jay felt like the temperature around her was dropping bit by bit, despite the heater burning in the room.

“You mean Lord Cheion has gone to the Principality of Persia?”

“Y-Yes.”

Jay found the entire situation absurd. She still couldn’t figure out why she had ended up here.

I only meant to deliver a letter.

She had only planned to hand the letter to the Magic Tower guard at the entrance and leave. But things became complicated when they found out the sender was the Tower Master himself.

“Y-you have to deliver it directly to the secretary.”

“Me?”

“Yes!”

For some reason, everyone seemed unwilling to even touch the letter, and they ended up sending Jay directly to Secretary Luca. As soon as he opened the letter while radiating that icy aura, Jay finally understood why.

Just what was written in that letter?

“......”

Luca silently read through the letter before eventually crumpling it in his hand and throwing it aside, as though the letter itself were Cheion.

The contents of the letter were simple.

[I’m going far away. Don’t look for me. I’ll leave everything else to you ♡]

...The little heart at the end only made Luca even more furious.

Crack.

“U-um, I should be leaving.”

Seeing Luca grinding his teeth angrily, Jay quickly slipped out of the room, almost fleeing. She offered a silent prayer for Lord Cheion, who would have to return here someday.

“Your Excellency? What are you doing here?”

Hearing a familiar voice coming from a room that should’ve been empty, Del peeked inside and looked puzzled.

The person standing there wasn’t Ceres, the room’s owner, but Kainel, who was holding something in his hand.

A communication orb?

Meeting Del’s curious gaze, Kainel smiled faintly and placed the communication orb back where it belonged.

“I got rid of a pest.”

“Pardon?”

A pest? Did one actually get into the Grand Duke’s residence? Is our capable butler failing to do his job?

Well, that’s beside the point.

Del looked at Kainel with a reproachful expression. Entering someone’s room without permission while they were away was hardly proper.

But then, he noticed the small gift box beside the communication orb and nodded in understanding.

So he came here to give that to her.

A few days ago, Kainel had personally gone out, saying there was something he needed to buy. Del had wondered why he had bothered going himself when he could’ve simply sent him or someone else.

Curious about what could require the Grand Duke himself to go out, Del followed him. What Kainel purchased was a pair of women’s gloves.

They really were for Miss Ceres.

Del smiled.

“The meal is ready. Shall we go?”

At Del’s words, Kainel left the room without another word.

“Ta-da.”

“......”

When Kainel entered the dining room, Yuness greeted him with a bright smile.

Ceres and Julia were already seated. The table was filled with all kinds of lavish dishes unlike their usual breakfasts.

“I prepared the meal today.”

At Yuness’s words, Kainel’s gaze naturally shifted toward Ceres.

Even after coming to the Grand Duke’s residence, Ceres had continued preparing his meals. But today, Yuness had gone into the kitchen early in the morning and volunteered to prepare the Grand Duke’s breakfast herself.

Ceres merely shrugged when she caught Kainel looking at her.

If she insists on doing it, what can I say? It would be ridiculous if I started arguing, saying your meals are my responsibility.

“Julia, let’s eat.”

“Okay!”

Once the master of the house sat down, Ceres urged Julia to start eating. Unlike the others, Julia’s meal was much simpler.

Since strongly seasoned or heavily scented foods could still be too much for Julia’s body, Ceres had prepared her meal herself, even though Yuness had taken over the kitchen today.

“I heard you liked omelets, so I made one.”

Kainel’s gaze turned to Ceres again. His eyes seemed to ask if she had taught Yuness that. Ceres only shrugged.

“Could you tell me what food His Excellency likes? I would like to take care of his meals from now on.”

“From now on?”

“Yes. I think he would feel more at ease if someone close to him prepared his meals.”

“......”

After staring at Yuness’s cheerful smile, Ceres immediately grabbed some paper and a pen. She wrote down every dish she had made for Kainel so far, including all the foods he disliked.

Tap, tap.

“Then I’ll leave it to you.”

“Pardon? Ah... yes.”

Ceres patted her shoulder and left the kitchen without any resistance. Yuness seemed surprised by Ceres’s reaction.

I’m the one who should be grateful.

Why would she mind someone else cooking for him?

Besides, he really does need to break his picky eating habits. He can’t keep eating only my cooking forever.

Ceres slowly savored the food Yuness had prepared. Her cooking skills were quite impressive. The taste was good, the presentation was beautiful, and everything was just right.

Clack.

“Ah... Is it not to your liking?”

Ceres looked up from her meal. Kainel had set down his spoon after tasting the soup Yuness had made only once.

“I just don’t have much of an appetite.”

“I’ll make something else right away.”

“No. I usually don’t eat much in the morning, so don’t worry about it.”

Kainel stopped Yuness, who had hurriedly gotten to her feet. Then, his gaze shifted toward Julia.

“Huh?”

Julia stopped eating and looked back at him. After tilting her head in confusion, she picked up a piece of meat with her fork and held it out.

“Want some?”

He immediately accepted it, as if he had been waiting for her to offer.

When Kainel continued accepting every bite Julia offered him, a vein popped on Ceres’s forehead.

“Oi. Don’t steal her food.”

“I usually don’t eat breakfast, but I can’t refuse when a child is offering me food.”

Even under Ceres’s glare, Kainel continued accepting each piece Julia offered, as if he was doing it on purpose.

“......”

Watching the three of them, Yuness could only force an awkward smile. No one noticed her clenched fist behind her back.
