“Ceres, come in.”

A short while later, Ceres entered the Emperor’s office and found Emperor Debrica welcoming her warmly.

He looked remarkably well, to the point that it was difficult to believe he was someone who had been attacked and brought to the brink of death only a few days ago.

‘Of course he does.’

She had restored him perfectly to the state he had been in before he was injured.

“Come over here and sit.”

When he personally came all the way to the door, took her hand, and led her to a seat, Ceres gave an awkward smile.

Emperor Debrica had always looked at her fondly whenever he saw her, but today that fondness was particularly intense.

Judging by the level of affection Emperor Debrica was showing her right now, it seemed like he would agree to anything she asked for.

“Ceres, if it weren’t for you, I don’t know what would have happened.”

Perhaps it would be fair to say that his already high opinion of her had skyrocketed after what happened last time.

Seeing Emperor Debrica’s eyes sparkling brightly enough to make her uncomfortable, Ceres let out a silent sigh.

“I merely did what I had to do.”

“You said it was the power of your Tamer Relic.”

“Yes.”

At Ceres’s firm answer, Crown Prince Aseraian once again fixed her with a long, searching gaze, but she deliberately pretended not to notice.

“You prevented the epidemic as well. Your Tamer Relic certainly possesses a great many abilities.”

“Yes, its abilities are quite versatile.”

Once again, Crown Prince Aseraian’s gaze flew toward her.

‘What do you want me to do about it?’

I’m the owner of the Tamer Relic, and I say that’s how it is. What are you going to do, grab my little rabbit who can’t even talk and interrogate her?

The Temple was in an uproar right now as well. After seeing the ability Ceres had displayed that day, they had been making a fuss about whether a new saintess had been born.

After all, the healing ability she had demonstrated that day was in no way inferior even when compared to the Pope’s divine power.

‘There is no divine power involved.’

‘But.......’

‘It was my Tamer Relic.’

‘...Tamer?’

‘Yes.’

‘No, there was clearly divine power.......’

‘Tamer Relic.’

‘.......’

People from the Temple had come to bother Ceres for quite some time, but faced with the same firm answer repeated over and over, they eventually had no choice but to retreat without accomplishing anything.

“Veilks. You still haven’t found any trace of him?”

Ceres hurriedly changed the subject, cutting off the same conversation that had been repeated over and over, starting with Crown Prince Aseraian. At her question, a long groan escaped Emperor Debrica.

“We issued a warrant for his arrest, but there hasn’t been a single trace of him.”

“What about Prince Alex?”

“.......”

Alex... At that name, Emperor Debrica’s face filled with worry.

“Why in the world would that child.......”

Emperor Debrica had been deeply confused after hearing what had happened after he collapsed.

The fact that Veilks had attacked him was shocking enough, but he simply could not believe that the person who had taken Veilks away as though rescuing him was none other than Prince Alex.

“And his health has always been poor.”

He could not even begin to guess what had happened to the boy during that time.

How had he come to know Veilks?

As far as Debrica knew, the two of them had never been particularly close before. Everything, from beginning to end, was full of unanswered questions.

“I heard that child even used magic.”

Hadn’t Alex taken Veilks and disappeared in an instant? He had not used a teleportation magic scroll, either.

Apparently, the moment Prince Alex waved his hand, they were enveloped °• N 𝑜 v 𝑒 l i g h t •° in a brilliant light and vanished from the spot in an instant.

“Alex has no mana.”

Unlike the Second Prince, Cheion, Alex had not the slightest talent for magic.

When Prince Alex was young, countless mages, no fewer than the healers, had gone in and out of the palace in an attempt to treat his body. It was something that had been thoroughly confirmed through them.

“.......”

“.......”

Watching Emperor Debrica sigh again and again, Ceres and Crown Prince Aseraian exchanged grave looks.

Prince Alex had seemed completely different from before.

‘Could it be.......’

Both Crown Prince Aseraian and Ceres had an idea of what that might mean.

‘Like Veilks.......’

If someone else was wearing his skin.

Their expressions gradually grew even heavier.

***

“It was her.”

“Hmm.”

A deep smile settled on Prince Alex’s lips as he listened to Veilks.

“The woman you spoke of has come back to life?”

“I don’t know exactly how it happened, but.......”

Reincarnation? Had she been born again? But she clearly remembered her past.

‘Yeah, that’s right. So what?’

Hadn’t she admitted herself that she was Grace?

“That ability undoubtedly belongs to her.”

The ability to turn back time. There could not possibly be another person capable of using it.

Just as Ceres had suspected, the reason Veilks had deliberately attended the meeting and attacked Emperor Debrica was to confirm her ability.

If Ceres really was Grace, just as he suspected, then she would use that ability to save Emperor Debrica.

And he had seen it clearly.

Everything had been restored as though time itself were flowing backward.

The wound his own hand had punched through had healed as though it had never existed, and even the torn, bloodstained clothes had been restored perfectly to their original state.

‘How in the world?’

Was she occupying someone else’s body, just as he was?

Otherwise, there was no explanation for how a woman who had died 300 years ago had appeared again in the present.

“She is a threat.”

“.......”

At Veilks’s words, Prince Alex turned a somewhat indifferent gaze toward him.

Seeing those eyes silently fixed on him, Veilks hurriedly dropped to his knees.

“My apologies.”

He even bowed his head all the way to the floor before hurriedly continuing.

“I should have taken care of everything before you arrived... It was my mistake.”

Only then did Prince Alex’s indifferent eyes curve pleasantly once more.

“She’s really that dangerous?”

“Yes.”

“Hmm.”

The ability to turn back time.

It was certainly an interesting ability, but it did not strike him as threatening enough to warrant much concern.

Veilks, however, seemed to think differently. Apparently, long ago, he had gone so far as to abandon everything he was doing because of her.

If that was the case, there was only one solution.

If something was getting in the way, remove it.

“Deal with her.”

“...Yes.”

At his simple command, Veilks’s expression grew heavy.

‘Her.......’

...Could he eliminate her?

It was not as though he had never tried to eliminate Grace long ago.

But every attempt had ended in failure.

And that was despite the tremendous losses he had suffered in the process.

He had lost countless subordinates and even stepped in personally, yet in the end, he had still failed to eliminate her. There was a reason he had ultimately resorted to waiting for her to die.

‘This time.......’

Lord Herchaos had awakened.

And he had given an order.

So no matter what it took, Veilks had to carry out that order.

“What should we do with him?”

Veilks brought up someone else.

Jutel.

He had originally been Veilks’s subordinate, but at some point, he had begun obeying Prince Alex’s orders far more readily than Veilks’s.

Veilks had already known that Jutel cared for Prince Alex enough to disobey even his own orders.

And when Prince Alex regained consciousness this time, Jutel’s true feelings, which he had kept hidden until then, had been completely exposed.

‘What have you done to Prince Alex?’

‘What do you mean, what have I done? He simply won’t be sick anymore.’

‘That man... is not Prince Alex.’

‘So?’

‘You.......’

‘You, huh.’

That one form of address alone had been enough for Veilks to realize that Jutel had already abandoned his duty as Veilks’s subordinate.

And then came his attack!

For the first time, Jutel had bared his fangs and attacked Veilks. He was currently being held captive.

Veilks asked Prince Alex what should be done with him... No, he asked Lord Herchaos.

“Obviously, kill—”

Herchaos, who had been speaking indifferently, suddenly stopped.

His gaze lowered toward the place where his heart was.

An incredulous smile appeared on Herchaos’s face.

“.......”

A dull, aching pain had arisen there completely against his will.

And it had happened at the exact moment he was about to give the order to kill Jutel.

“...Leave him alive for now.”

“Pardon?”

Veilks’s eyes widened slightly at the unexpected command.

He had thought Lord Herchaos would order him to dispose of Jutel immediately.

“...Is there still something left?”

Herchaos let out a quiet laugh.
