Rosalie:

A familiar hand closed around my wrist once again.

"Rosalie!"

The moment his fingers closed around my wrist again, I tried to pull free on instinct.

"Let go of me."

I twisted my arm exactly the way Eiden had taught me during training, but this time Alastor anticipated my movement. His grip tightened instead of loosening, his frustration making him oblivious to how painfully his fingers dug into my skin.

I winced, trying to pry his hand away with my free one, but it was like trying to move a steel vice. My heartbeat quickened, not because I was afraid of him anymore, but because I couldn’t understand why he simply refused to listen. The more I struggled, the tighter he held on.

"Rosalie, stop fighting me!" he snapped, taking a step closer. "Just listen for once!"

"I have listened to you for years!" I shot back, glaring at him through burning eyes. "I listened when you ignored me. I listened when you chose Charlotte. I listened when you told me to accept your decision. I am done listening!"

I yanked my arm again. "Let. Me. Go."

"No!" His voice echoed through the empty club. "I won’t let you disappear again!"

"I don’t belong to you anymore!"

The words seemed to hit something inside him. His expression twisted with anger, frustration, and desperation all at once.

"You do!"

"I never did!"

The argument escalated so quickly that neither of us noticed how physical it had become. I shoved at his chest in another attempt to free myself, and instead of stepping back, he instinctively pushed back.

Too hard.

Everything happened within a heartbeat. My balance disappeared beneath me and I stumbled backward. My heel caught against the edge of the carpet, and the next thing I knew, I hit the polished wooden floor with enough force to knock the breath from my lungs.

For a second... everything hurt.

Silence filled the hallway.

Alastor froze. The anger vanished from his face so completely it was as though someone had wiped it away. His eyes widened in horror.

"Rose..." His voice cracked. "Oh Goddess..." He took two hurried steps toward me before immediately dropping to one knee. "I... I didn’t..." His gaze darted over me frantically as though searching for injuries. "I didn’t mean to push you." His breathing had become uneven. "I swear... I wasn’t trying to hurt you."

He reached a trembling hand toward me.

"I’m sorry. I could never hurt you on purpose. I’m so sorry." The panic in his voice almost sounded genuine. "I didn’t realize... I just... Rose... Please... Let me help you."

He tried to take my hand. But I slapped it away.

"Get away."

Using both hands against the floor, I slowly pushed myself upright. My hip throbbed where it had struck the wooden floor, and my wrist still ached from where he had gripped it. The pain only fueled the anger building inside me.

By the time I was standing again, tears had gathered in my eyes. Not from the fall, but from everything else. From him. From us. From the fact that my feelings for him made him think he owned me.

He stepped forward again carefully. "I’m sorry, Rose-"

"I said don’t touch me!" I shoved him with both hands. This time it wasn’t about escaping. It was anger.mMonths of heartbreak.mWeeks of rebuilding myself. Every bit of pain I had buried came rushing back.

"You don’t get to apologize!" I shouted. "You don’t get to keep hurting me and then say you didn’t mean it!"

His face paled. "I-"

"You made your choice! You chose her! You kept choosing her! So stop acting like you still care!"

His lips parted, but no words came out. For once he looked lost for words. Yet, even then, he still stepped toward me. "Rose..." His hand lifted again, almost as if he intended to grab my arm once more.

"No." I took a step back. "Don’t."

He didn’t seem to hear me. His fingers stretched toward my wrist-

A sharp crack echoed through the hallway. Alastor’s head snapped violently to one side, and the force of the punch sent him stumbling several steps backward before he barely managed to catch himself against the wall instead of falling outright.

I gasped.

Before I even understood what had happened, a familiar figure had already stepped between us.

Eiden.

His broad shoulders completely shielded me from Alastor’s view as one arm reached back instinctively, gently guiding me farther behind him. It was such a natural movement - protective, certain, and safe. And I felt my racing heartbeat begin to slow instantly.

Alastor straightened slowly, touching the corner of his mouth where a thin streak of blood had appeared. His icy blue eyes lifted and landed on Eiden. Then, they shifted briefly toward the arm shielding me, and something dangerous flashed across his face.

"Who are you?" His voice was low, controlled only by sheer effort. "And how dare you interfere between us?"mHe took a single step forward. "I suggest you move."

Eiden didn’t move an inch. Instead, the temperature inside the hallway seemed to drop. An invisible pressure spread through the room. It started quietly, almost imperceptibly. Then it intensified. The air itself became unbearably heavy.

Every instinct inside me recognized what it was.

Alpha aura.

Only... nothing like I had ever felt before. The pressure rolled through the club like a tidal wave. Somewhere outside the hallway I heard furniture scrape across the floor followed by muffled cries of surprise. Employees who had rushed toward the commotion abruptly stopped moving altogether.

Even Alastor’s posture stiffened. His jaw clenched and his breathing became noticeably heavier. Though he remained standing, I saw the unmistakable tension ripple through every muscle in his body as he resisted the overwhelming dominance pressing against him.

He was an Alpha. One of the strongest Alphas in the region. And yet, against Eiden, the difference was unmistakable. For just a fleeting second, he looked genuinely shaken.

The only one not feeling suppressed by Eiden’s aura was me, and Alastor noticed it. His eyes flickered toward me in confusion before returning to Eiden.

Eiden’s voice remained calm, almost gentle. Yet somehow, that calmness felt infinitely more terrifying than shouting ever could.

"Stay away from Rosalie."

The words weren’t loud. They didn’t need to be.

"If you touch her again, Alpha Vale..." His eyes held Alastor’s without wavering. "...you won’t like the consequences."

Silence followed. Even the air itself seemed afraid to move. Then Eiden turned slightly toward me.

"Come."

Just one word.

I nodded immediately. His hand found mine - warm, steady, and comforting. He didn’t pull me. He simply waited until I chose to walk beside him.mTogether we headed toward the club’s entrance.

Behind us I heard hurried footsteps.

"Rosalie!"

Alastor.

I instinctively tensed. But before he could reach us, another familiar voice cut across the hallway.

"Alpha."

Luxe.

The Beta stepped directly into Alastor’s path, placing himself firmly between us and his Alpha. "Please." His tone remained respectful. "But don’t."

For several long seconds, no one moved.

Then Eiden gently squeezed my hand, and without looking back again, we walked out of the club together, leaving Alastor standing behind us.
