Too Late To Regret, My Alphas

Chapter 132: She Needed To Disappear

Charlotte:

After the call ended, I stood completely still for exactly one heartbeat, staring at the black screen of my phone as my brother’s last words echoed inside my head.

Then I hurled the phone with every ounce of strength I had. It flew across the bedroom before smashing straight into the full-length mirror standing against the wall. Glass exploded everywhere and the deafening crash echoed through the enormous room as countless glittering shards rained onto the polished floor.

Every single member of the staff present inside the room flinched. One of the maids even cried out in fright.

Good. They should be afraid.

Silence lingered for only a second before one of the older attendants cautiously stepped forward. Her hands trembled so badly that she had to clasp them together to stop them shaking.

"L-Luna..." she whispered. "Please... don’t get so angry. It isn’t good for the baby."

The slap echoed almost as loudly as the mirror breaking. Her head snapped violently to the side as she stumbled backward, one hand flying to her face while blood slowly appeared where her lip had split against her teeth.

Nobody moved. Nobody even dared to breathe.

I waited for a second, then two, then three. Long enough for every one of them to fully understand what had just happened. Only then did I speak. "If any of you," I said quietly, each word dripping with icy control, "ever tells me again what I should or shouldn’t do..." My heels clicked softly across the floor as I stopped in front of the bleeding woman. "...I’ll make you regret opening your mouth."

She immediately dropped to her knees. "I’m sorry, Luna... I-I only meant-"

I grabbed her chin before she could finish and watched as her entire body stiffened beneath my touch.

"I know better than anyone how to take care of my child." My hand instinctively drifted toward my swollen stomach. The child I had sacrificed so much for was finally almost here.

A strange smile crossed my lips.

"I’m the only one," I murmured almost absentmindedly, "who knows how hard I have worked to bring this child into the world." The words slipped out before I even realized I’d spoken them aloud.

The maid’s frightened sob pulled my attention back to the present. She was crying openly now. Begging.

"Please forgive me... I didn’t mean any disrespect..."

Her voice grated against my nerves. With a disgusted shove, I pushed her away. She lost her balance and fell onto the floor among the scattered pieces of broken glass.

"Get out."

Nobody hesitated. All five servants practically ran for the door. Within seconds, the bedroom was empty. The silence they left behind felt... pleasing. I slowly inhaled. Even after they were gone, I could almost taste the fear lingering in the room.

Pathetic. Weak. Every last one of them.

They feared me so easily. And yet the one person who should have feared me... never had. My smile vanished at his thought.

Kaiser.

Just thinking his name was enough to reignite the anger I’d barely managed to contain.

My brother’s phone call hadn’t merely surprised me. It had alarmed me. The moment Richard casually mentioned seeing Kaiser inside Blanett Corporation, every instinct I possessed had begun screaming that something was wrong.

Powerful alphas and businessmen attended corporate exhibitions all the time. But this was Kaiser. A man with no interest in business or corporate exhibitions. As well as someone with no interest in me and my family, let alone our business.

Among the three Alpha brothers, he was the only one I’d never truly managed to control. The other two weren’t that hard to manipulate. But Kaiser... he had listened to that slut’s nonsense, he had doubted, and then he had questioned.

Even in the beginning, he’d never accepted everything I said as easily as the others. He’d been the first to speak against me. The first to accuse me. The first to suggest that perhaps I wasn’t who everyone believed I was.

His brothers hadn’t listened then. My perfect acting had taken care of that. And after that failure, Kaiser had stopped openly arguing with them. But I had never fooled myself into believing he’d given up.

Men like Kaiser didn’t give up. They simply became quieter... and far more dangerous. Which was precisely why hearing that he’d appeared at my family’s company had immediately put me on guard.

I’d warned Richard to keep an eye on him. Not because I knew what Kaiser was looking for. But because I knew he was looking for something.

Then, almost as an afterthought, I’d asked about the woman he mentioned. The one he saw with Kaiser at the company.

"Who was the woman with him?"

Richard hadn’t seen her clearly, but only caught glimpses. So the only words he mentioned were dark brown hair, pale skin, average height, and pretty. It was nothing particularly useful. Yet somehow, the description immediately summoned one face inside my mind.

Rosalie.

No. That couldn’t be right. She had no reason to be anywhere near my family’s business.

Richard had laughed off my suspicion at first. Until he remembered the security cameras. He’d then asked someone to retrieve the footage. And several agonizing minutes later, he’d sent me a still image.

The moment it appeared on my screen, every remaining shred of self-control disappeared.

There she was.

Rosalie Hale.

Walking through my family’s building beside Kaiser as though she belonged there. The image had only been taken from the side. But I would have recognized her anywhere.

That little bitch.

My fingernails dug painfully into my palms. She simply refused to stay away. Every time I believed I’d finally removed her from my life, she returned. Every. Single. Time.

First she’d stolen my men. Then she’d somehow survived falling off that cliff. Then she’d appeared in Shadow Creek. And now... she was visiting my family company with Kaiser.

The confirmation made my stomach twist.

No. This wasn’t coincidence anymore. Someone was helping her. Someone powerful. Someone capable of getting her into places she never should have reached.

I began pacing the room.

My earlier plan should have worked. Everything had been arranged perfectly. Ruining Rosalie’s reputation through her precious bookstore should have isolated her, damaged her business, and made everyone question her.

Instead, somehow... it had failed.

To this day, I still didn’t know exactly how she’d escaped the trap. Those stupid thugs never gave me information. Perhaps it’s because I hadn’t pushed hard enough. Perhaps I’d underestimated her.

That mistake wouldn’t happen again.

Slowly, I rested both hands against my swollen stomach. "My precious baby..." A soft smile finally returned to my lips. "Just a little longer."

Soon. Very soon. The entire werewolf world would see me exactly where I belonged. The Luna of Blackthorn Pack. The Luna of Crescent Wolf Pack. Mother of the heir who would secure my place forever.

Everything I had endured, everything I had sacrificed, and everything I had carefully built... it was all for this moment. And I would not allow anyone to take it away from me, especially not Rosalie Hale.

My gaze settled on my cracked reflection in the shattered mirror. For a long moment, I simply smiled at the broken woman staring back. Then I whispered the words that felt less like a threat and more like a promise.

"Rosalie Hale, this time... you need to disappear for good."
