Chapter 1175: Is Your Back Still Sore?Chapter 1175: Chapter 1175: Is Your Back Still Sore?
Aurelia Shaw lay on the bed for a while, pondering life, until her stomach grumbled in protest, prompting her to go out in search of food. As soon as she stepped out, the aroma of food wafted in the air.
"Aunt Galen, your cooking skills keep getting better and better. Just from the smell, I can tell it must be delicious," Aurelia leaned lazily against the door frame, playfully acting spoiled. Her face was unwashed, bare, with her long, black, curly hair casually draped around her shoulders. A smile danced on her lips, lazily enchanting, her lip color not quite pink but a vivid red, a pure yet striking beauty.
Galen blushed bashfully at the compliment, "This child, you sure know how to talk. Quick, go inside and wash your face. I knew you’d wake up soon and be hungry, the dishes are almost ready. Wash your face and come eat."
"Aunt Galen truly spoils me." Aurelia became particularly sweet-tongued when there was food involved. She looked around but couldn’t find Mason Nightshade, so she asked, "Where’s Mason?" She hadn’t seen him all morning; he must have gone off somewhere. After wearing her out so much last night, he seemed perfectly fine and got up early like nothing happened.
Galen replied, "He’s in the courtyard with little Oberon."
Aurelia laughed; Mason was interested in spending time with a child? In her impression, this man spent much of his time like a child himself.
Aurelia went to the backyard. It was an open apartment complex, with an open courtyard in the front. The yard wasn’t big, with some green plants growing, perfect for relaxation. Aurelia surely wouldn’t compromise on her choice of property.
In the backyard, Mason sat with his long legs crossed, holding a cup of coffee in one hand, with a business magazine resting on his knee, browsing through it. He occasionally glanced at the boy working on math problems. The boy sat straight, lips pressed tight, fingers gripping the pen tightly, his nerves taut, not daring to relax even for a moment, even though the man across from him wasn’t watching him.
There was an intangible pressure emitted by this man, making it impossible for anyone to relax; the boy didn’t want to lose in front of this man.
While knowing this method was childish and Mason looked down on him, Oberon still didn’t want to admit defeat because... as he saw Aurelia arriving, his eyes flickered.
Mason sensed something, lifted his eyes to look over, and his cold gaze immediately softened. He reached out to pull her into his arms. "Awake now? Is your waist still sore?"
Mason knew she recovered faster than ordinary people but would still ask anyway.
Aurelia glanced at the stack of books piled high on the table, picked one up, and leafed through it, immediately feeling overwhelmed. Since childhood, she thought math was the most headache-inducing subject. Luckily, she wasn’t reborn into her school years, or she’d have to suffer through learning math all over again.
"Oberon’s math is impressive." Aurelia flipped through a few of Oberon’s algebra problems, and he had gotten all the answers right. She heard from Ursa that this child buried himself in studies all day long.
Aurelia’s gaze darkened slightly, suddenly recalling the boy’s attitude towards her.
It was hard not to wonder if the boy was studying for her. Because she had once helped him, saved his life—was he studying hard to become strong to repay her?
Having a goal to become strong is certainly good, but Aurelia didn’t want the boy to lose direction because of her, focusing solely on her.
Aurelia’s eyes softened, and she ruffled Oberon’s hair with a warm smile, "Oberon, shall we go for a spring outing tomorrow?"
Oberon’s eyes lit up!
