Chapter 1218: Chapter 1218: Hearts Turned Dark

Aurelia was taken aback and looked up, only to see Emily Stewart standing in front of her, ill at ease and a little embarrassed.

"Aurelia, do you... do you still remember me?"

As soon as Emily finished, she saw a bright, sunny smile bloom on the girl’s sweat-dampened face.

This way of saying hello was a bit abrupt.

The two of them had only worked together once, on "Dawnsong 2," and that collaboration had been very unpleasant. Back then, she’d made things quite difficult for Aurelia, thinking of her as a junior.

Emily was clearly a little worried, thinking the girl would ignore her, or at best give a cold, haughty "mm" the way she used to, and then pay her no more attention. She never expected the girl to be so approachable.

"Senior Emily, when I saw you in the recording studio just now I wanted to say hi, but by the time I finished recording you were already gone."

An awkward look appeared on Emily’s face. In her heart she wondered whether the girl was saying this on purpose to mock her, or if she had some other agenda.

Just as she was about to shrink back, Aurelia spoke again, her tone still gentle and easy to approach. "Senior Emily, I listened to a small part while you were recording. I have a tiny suggestion for you—would you mind?"

Emily clenched her fingers, thinking she really shouldn’t have come over to talk. Was Aurelia planning to sneer at her a few times too, to get back at her for acting so aloof before?

Emily gave a self-mocking smile, thinking that she might as well stand tall. She’d already heard so many harsh words; the entertainment industry was like this to begin with.

Aurelia took another sip of water before saying, "Senior Emily, your voice has a very distinctive quality, but your breath support is lacking. That’s probably because you haven’t had much contact with music before. You can practice breath and articulation by singing every morning when you wake up. Your voice may not be the most beautiful, but it has its own character, and that’s the rarest, most precious part. I’m really looking forward to your single."

As she spoke, Aurelia’s peach-blossom eyes curved, starlight flickering in her brows and gaze. The girl made people feel the sincerity in her words; it wasn’t some hollow, surface-level praise—this was truly what she thought.

Something stirred in Emily’s heart, and she regretted ever suspecting Aurelia of wanting to mock her. She really had judged a noble heart with a petty mind.

After being in the entertainment industry for so long, she didn’t know when her own thoughts had started to darken, making her feel that everyone’s heart was black, that there were no genuinely kind people left in this world.

"Thank you." Emily thanked her with genuine sincerity.

Aurelia arched a brow and watched Emily leave. She kept feeling that Emily had something weighing on her mind, and it wasn’t about the recording. But that was someone else’s private business; it wasn’t her place to pry.

A teasing voice drifted over:

"Oh, oh, oh—since when did our Aurelia get such a soft heart, actually counseling other people?"

Amanda Fuller walked over with a crooked grin, with her tagalong Foster Fuller following behind.

Wasn’t Foster supposed to be busy working in M Nation? How did he suddenly have the time to come back to Country Z, and even the leisure to stick by his sister’s side, trailing after her to "supervise" her work?

Aurelia raised her hand and tossed the bottle into the trash can. The bottle drew an arc in midair and landed squarely in the bin. She patted her clothes and quirked her lips in a teasing smile. "Not as soft-hearted as you. I’m only paying one person’s salary, yet somehow I’ve got two of you working for me."

Amanda’s face flushed red. "It’s not what you think! I said I could come work alone, he insisted on tagging along, making me feel like a kid. I’ve already told him I’m not a child anymore. Clearly he’s the one with ulterior motives."

"Oh? And what ulterior motives would those be?" Aurelia coaxed patiently.
