Chapter 1256: Chapter 1256: Concealment

Aurelia Shaw fell into a deep sleep in Mason Nightshade’s embrace. She had so many questions to ask, but the past couple of days had been too exhausting. She had barely rested, and the moment she caught Mason’s familiar scent, fatigue overcame her, and she could no longer keep her eyes open. All her questions slipped to the back of her mind.

When the sound of steady, even breathing came from the person in his arms, Mason’s calm face finally showed a slight furrow of his brow. He looked down and saw that the bandage on his chest was seeping blood, and he called Junia Simpson to re-bandage it for him.

Junia had just arrived at her own place when she received the message and rushed over, thinking it wouldn’t be a serious injury. But when she saw Mason’s torn wound, she couldn’t help but be startled.

"Keep it down!" Mason warned in a low voice, glancing at the person sleeping soundly in bed. "Finish bandaging and get out, don’t wake her."

Junia found the words she wanted to say stuck in her throat, and after bandaging Mason, she left quietly.

Standing at the doorway, she murmured to herself, "I wonder if Aurelia coming over is a good or bad thing for Mason."

Looking down and seeing her bare feet, Mason gave a soft scoff, "Deserve a lesson!" He bent down and picked Aurelia up, carrying her back to the bed.

Junia, seeing this, wanted to say something but found herself unable to utter a single word.

Mason placed Aurelia onto the bed and held her feet, warming them, his handsome face darkened, "How many times is this now?"

"It’s already warm now," Aurelia mumbled, trying to justify herself.

Mason’s voice dropped, "Have you forgotten that summer you liked running around barefoot indoors, and the pain was unbearable at night?"

Aurelia froze, surprised that Mason remembered this.

That was something from a past life.

Mason had fallen asleep then, and she had been awoken by the pain in her feet. Not wanting to wake Mason, she turned over and pulled her feet into her embrace, thinking it would alleviate the pain.

But the pain didn’t lessen; instead, it grew more intense.

Suddenly, Mason’s voice came from behind her, "What are you doing?"

Aurelia, startled, turned to look back, and saw Mason awake and sitting up at some point, his brow slightly furrowed as he assessed her. Seeing her covered in sweat, Mason’s frown deepened.

Realizing she was clutching her own feet, her expression pained, he took hold of her feet, pressing his palms against the arches. His bowed head was covered by his hair, obscuring his expression in the night, but his voice could be heard, "Feet hurt?"

Aurelia awkwardly tried to pull her feet back, only to find Mason’s grip was strong. In the end, she gave up struggling and mumbled, feeling slightly guilty, "Maybe they got cold during the day from being barefoot, no, it doesn’t hurt."

"Idiot," Mason muttered quietly.

"What?" Aurelia couldn’t catch what he said, or perhaps couldn’t believe those words came from Mason.

However, Mason didn’t give her another chance to hear it.

He held her feet to his chest, pulled her into a lie-down embrace, eyes closed, and said in a low voice, "Just go to sleep."

"My, my feet..." Aurelia, feeling the strong arm pressing against her back, blushed with embarrassment and tried again to pull her feet away.
