Top-class Bodyguard
Chapter 1304 - 1280: Heading to the South Pacific OceanWhen he returned to Liou Rumei's place, Liou Rumei was sitting on the sofa.
"You're back?"
Liou Rumei giggled. She stood up in a silk nightgown, her hair falling down over her shoulders, then walked toward Ren Feng.
"So? How's your little star?"
Ren Feng shook his head. "She's in the hospital. Heart disease."
Liou Rumei froze for a moment. "She fell ill?"
"Yeah. I'm going to save her."
Liou Rumei said nothing more, just helped Ren Feng take off his coat.
"Tomorrow I'm leaving Yanjing."
"You, huh, you're obviously a busy man. No need to tell me about these little things." Liou Rumei giggled. "You haven't eaten yet, right? Eat first."
The two sat at the dining table. It was obvious to Liou Rumei that Ren Feng was weighed down with worries.
"Don't worry. Things will work out. Everyone has the hardest year of their life, the one that makes their world both better and broader."
Ren Feng looked at Liou Rumei and smiled. "Maybe. I'll help her get through that hardest year."
Liou Rumei blinked. "Then rest well tonight. Tomorrow you can set off properly."
Ren Feng nodded.
"This time I might be gone for about a month."
"Then you should send a message to your President and the others."
"I already did. Told them not to worry." Ren Feng said.
Liou Rumei poured him a glass of wine. "Then remember to come back early and safe."
"I will."
After they finished the wine and the meal, Liou Rumei thoughtfully accompanied Ren Feng back to the room.
...
The next day.
Ren Feng was already prepared and met Long Yue at the agreed time.
When he saw Long Yue, she was still in simple sportswear, just with some Dragon Group gear on her.
"We need to take the high-speed rail to the southern seas first, then board the 'Starry Sky' and head to the South Pacific Ocean." Long Yue said quickly. She waved down a car, and Ren Feng followed her in.
"I've calculated it. It'll take a few days to reach the South Pacific Ocean."
"Can't we get there faster?" Ren Feng frowned.
"No matter how fast we go, it's useless. It'll still be a few days before the Thunderstorm Layer opens up. Even if we get there early, we can't go in. Drive." Long Yue said to the Dragon Group member in the driver's seat.
The vehicle started and headed toward the train station.
"You must have run into something. Otherwise you wouldn't be in such a rush this time." Long Yue looked at Ren Feng.
"Yeah. I need to go in and look for a pill."
Long Yue nodded and didn't ask more, though there seemed to be a faint sigh in her eyes.
The two soon arrived at the high-speed rail station, boarded the train, and then went all the way south.
A few hours later, when they passed Jiangnan City, Ren Feng glanced out the window.
"Our first meeting was in Jiangnan City, right?"
Long Yue spoke.
"That's right. When I came back from overseas, it was through Jiangnan City." Ren Feng smiled.
By the time they reached the southernmost city, it was already close to night. After they got off the train, there were troops waiting outside the station.
Long Yue and Ren Feng walked out of the station. The soldier in the lead gave a salute. "Hello, please show your IDs."
Long Yue handed him her ID. He looked it over, saluted again, and returned it to her.
"Please come with me."
Long Yue and Ren Feng followed the soldier, got into the vehicle, and were jolted along the road toward a nearby port.
Even before they reached the port, there were layers upon layers of checkpoints.
"This is a military port. You should know it's currently the largest military port in our country."
Long Yue explained.
Ren Feng nodded.
Finally, after several rounds of inspection, Ren Feng and Long Yue reached the port. Looking out, they saw a massive aircraft carrier docked there!
The Starry Sky!
The Starry Sky was Huaxia's first domestically developed aircraft carrier, with a total displacement of 100,000 tons, a length of 333 meters, a beam of 41 meters, and a maximum deck width of 78 meters.
In short, it was a very formidable nuclear-powered carrier, with more than a hundred fighter jets aboard!
"They even dispatched an aircraft carrier?"
Ren Feng asked in confusion.
Long Yue nodded. "Things in the South Pacific Ocean have already blown up. All the countries know about it, and there are constant clashes in the surrounding waters. The United States has even been conducting military interceptions and obstruction against us, deliberately making trouble, so we have no choice but to send out a carrier."
"How long will it take to sail to the waters?"
"At top speed, ten days. We're about to set sail."
Ren Feng nodded, pressing down the anxiety in his heart. Being anxious now was pointless, since without the Thunderstorm Layer opening, getting there early wouldn't help.
The captain on the carrier had already ordered the ship to change course and head toward the South Pacific Ocean.
Night spread across the sky, the stars glittering above. Under this starry dome, the Starry Sky sailed out into the sea.
The soldiers around them all held fast to their posts, while Ren Feng sat on the deck, watching the surging waves being cleaved apart along the ship's sides.
"You're worried?"
Long Yue asked.
Ren Feng looked at her and said with a smile, "How did you know?"
"It's written all over your face. How could I not?"
Long Yue sat down beside him. "Why don't you tell me the reason?"
Ren Feng looked at Long Yue in surprise.
"If you tell me your worries, then I can share half of them." Long Yue said calmly.
"Then in exchange, you tell me yours too?" Ren Feng said with a smile.
Long Yue lifted her head. "My worries are cliché. Basically, being born into a big family and not having a say in my own life."
"A big family?" Ren Feng said. "Seems like there aren't really any so-called big families anymore, are there?"
"The big family I'm talking about isn't a secular one." Long Yue looked out at the sea. "You'll know when the time comes. According to the rules, after a while I have to go back and undergo the family's trial process and become a member of the Long Family, behaving myself, with no freedom ever again."
Ren Feng was a bit surprised. "You don't like it? If you don't like it, you can choose to refuse."
"If only I could refuse." Long Yue said. "A lot of things in this world aren't as simple as you think. You may want something in your heart, but things don't necessarily develop that way. Like how you might like someone, but that person doesn't necessarily like you. What about you?"
Ren Feng recounted what had happened.
"A Heart-Parasite?" Long Yue was a bit astonished.
"That's right. This kind of thing is from the Ancient Era. I have to go in there and find a pill to save Mo Yuqi's life."
Long Yue nodded slightly. "You should be able to find one. Maybe there'll be other things too."
"You still haven't told me—what are you going in for?"
"For proof."
"Proof?"
"Yes. Proof that I'm no worse than anyone else. I don't want to walk the path they've laid out for me. I want to follow my own."
Long Yue stared at Ren Feng, her gaze blazing.
