After emerging from the Twisted Forest, Ren Feng and Long Yue faced numerous dangers, encountering all sorts of beasts, from giant yaks towering high into the clouds to beasts as cunning as cats. Ren Feng even ran into a colossal toad over five meters tall in a swamp!
The journey was fraught with peril, and most of the time, they relied on the wine jug. Whenever danger arose, Ren Feng briefly broke the restriction on their cultivation levels imposed by the ruins' site using the jug, allowing him and Long Yue to escape.
After five full days, Ren Feng and Long Yue finally managed to persevere and arrived beneath a plaza, during which the two alleviated fatigue and True Qi depletion by drinking alcohol. By now, there's little wine left in the jug, enough for only a few uses at most.
"We're almost there."
Ren Feng looked at the road leading up the mountain, gazing upward as the path stretched to the summit.
"Let's move."
Ren Feng gripped the Heaven-Slaying Sword and walked ahead, nerves taut, prepared for any unexpected danger.
However, the journey up brought no dangers; there wasn't even a shadow of a beast, and any beast in midair avoided this mountain.
On both sides of the mountain floated white clouds; the nearby mountain ranges concealed within the misty clouds resembled a snowy landscape.
After ten minutes of walking, the two reached the mountaintop, where they were immediately stunned.
Before them was a vast platform; the area atop the mountain surpassed all imagination!
In the center of the platform was a Yin-Yang fish pattern, and every short distance stood an Alchemy Furnace—there were up to a thousand of them—which meant the plaza could accommodate a thousand people!
Imagining a thousand people conducting Alchemy simultaneously must be an awe-inspiring scene.
Around the plaza were several small wooden huts, all with their doors closed.
"Is this a place for Alchemy?" Long Yue asked after a glance.
Ren Feng breathed a sigh of relief, "There shouldn't be any beasts here, similar to that courtyard."
"This ruins site is not particularly dangerous except for specific areas. The real danger lies in reaching these places, where you must traverse beast-infested areas," Ren Feng said. "I actually think this place feels more like a sect than a tomb."
Long Yue walked forward, curiosity leading her to the Alchemy Furnaces, though she refrained from recklessly opening them.
Ren Feng performed a Spell, and suddenly, the Heaven-Slaying Sword flew out and embedded itself into a crevice, prying the lid open with force!
Upon lifting the lid, a purple mist erupted from within, flying into the sky with various odd beast patterns appearing as if struggling in the mist, followed swiftly by black smoke, resembling burnt ash.
Once the smoke dispersed and the two cautiously examined the Alchemy Furnace, they found residual elixirs inside, all damaged, most resembling blackened charcoal.
Ren Feng used the Heaven-Slaying Sword to stab them, causing the elixirs to crumble apart.
"Turned to ash. If the furnace lid stays closed, they can be preserved a bit longer, but once opened, they quickly turn to waste. Unfortunately, we have no method to correctly extract the elixirs."
Ren Feng sighed.
Long Yue glanced at the nearby wooden huts and spoke, "What about those huts?"
"Let's inspect them separately," Ren Feng suggested. "Before others arrive, we should search, or we'll lose the chance."
"Okay!"
Ren Feng and Long Yue split up, each heading toward the small wooden huts.
Meanwhile, at the foot of the mountain, Katusha and other experts appeared one after another.
Anish's expression was exceptionally grim; his robe was tattered, and he had lost a large chunk of flesh from his left cheek, looking quite sinister.
Katusha bore no visible wounds but had dust all over herself. Her previous attire was long discarded; she wore ultra-short shorts and a top akin to a sports bra, her long legs and appearance still exuded charm, yet no one cared about looks at this time.
Bailijia's mustache twitched as he gazed at the path leading up the mountain and said, "I'm exhausted, almost lost my life here. Really, all the Magical Artifacts I collected were spent here."
His face showed a hint of distress; he hadn't found anything worthwhile and ended up losing his own possessions, quite a poor trade-off.
The other experts also wore dour expressions, some even missing a hand. Altogether, only about twenty people remained, though more had yet to arrive, suggesting significant losses compared to the two hundred-plus who initially entered the ruins.
"Let's go up; we're here, no other path to take," Anish said seriously.
The group promptly started heading upward.
Meanwhile, Ren Feng pushed open a wooden door. Surprisingly, there was no Array on the door, and upon opening, he saw neatly placed porcelain bottles and gourds.
Ren Feng's eyes showed caution as he picked up a porcelain bottle and pulled out the stopper, releasing a rich fragrance into the air.
"What is this?"
Ren Feng's face held surprise as he poured out a round, pill-like elixir into his hand.
This elixir was emerald green, entirely transparent, crystal clear, perfectly round, and emitted a faint, elusive scent!
Even smelling this fragrance alone made Ren's pores relax, akin to consuming a Ginseng Fruit!
"What kind of elixir is this? After so much time, these elixirs remain intact?"
Ren Feng was shocked; inspecting further, he noticed markings on the elixir.
"Elixirs with markings; this Alchemy technique is more terrifying than that old man's!"
Feeling continual amazement, Ren Feng's eyes filled with joy, realizing the elixirs alone justified entering the ruins!
After recovering, Ren Feng swiftly waved his hand, and all the elixirs in the wooden hut entered his storage pouch.
Without worrying about the elixirs' efficacy, those from the Ancient Era naturally held unique qualities, worth collecting first.
Ren Feng quickly emptied the elixirs in this hut and immediately went to the next wooden hut!
Elsewhere, Long Yue mirrored his actions, swiftly collecting everything, while Anish and a group of twenty were arriving at the plaza.
