Moon marched at Dara without looking back, knowing too well Zera and the others were gathering closer together to minimize the damage. He shielded them with his own Echo against Dara’s stray attacks.
Moon slid past Dara’s attacks, one after another, either sending explosions on the ground that made small craters where they landed, or finding their way out of the ring.
His attacks were violent and reckless, unretractable once they were lunged.
Dara didn’t bother himself with where his attacks landed; his focus was solely on Moon... the slippery opponent he was fighting.
Moon noticed the attacks were wildly crossing the ring boundaries, but it was too late.
Basil, Barrett, and Dorbish, who were at the direction and at the lowest point of the rows of seats, found themselves facing one of these attacks.
At that moment, Moon turned his head, his Echo halfway out of his chest, to intercept the attack.
He was going to risk everything; getting disqualified along with them after the round was concluded was fine.
Yet the distance, once he took a good look, was too great.
His mind went blank at that moment. The sense of loss was already creeping into his heart. Once again, he was going to fail.
It was like the world had frozen around him, knowing he wouldn’t make it; his Echo couldn’t move that fast either.
But he ignored an important detail.
He ran and ditched Dara, who halted his attacks and started chasing after Moon instead.
Snap~
Boom~
An explosion rang out, sending up a cloud of dust.
"Basil, you bastard, Barrett!" Moon called as he ran.
"Stop, turn around!" a voice came, a familiar voice yet different from the one he was wishing to hear.
"Ah!" Moon exclaimed. "Can you block more?" he asked, snapping instantly from his worried state.
Once the dust settled, what appeared was Dorbish standing at the front with his hands in a guarding stance.
His fists were open, and his vambraces were perfectly intact.
Basil and Barrett were perfectly fine, albeit dusty.
"What are you—"
Rumble~
Moon started running again.
Another attack landed where he was standing. "Thanks, I owe you one!" he shouted before running toward where Zera and the others were.
’If his attacks are that destructive, why not let them fight each other instead?’ he giggled inwardly while sprinting faster.
Above, where Samuel and Ed were seated.
Ed pointed. "Shouldn’t you add a barrier for the audience?"
Samuel didn’t look at him. "Why would I?"
Ed explained logically, "The audience shouldn’t get hurt in a third party’s fight!"
Samuel wasn’t convinced. "Why don’t you do it?"
Ed shrugged. "I’m just a cook!"
Samuel didn’t argue further; his finger tapped the space once, and a dome-like Echo covered the ring entirely, all the way to the first row of the audience seats.
Ed nodded. "Appreciated!"
Where the girls were seated together, Talia exclaimed, "That guy is good." She praised Dorbish.
Boa nodded. "That’s a good defensive style, and his mastery is quite good," she agreed.
On the other hand, Lexie started relaxing again once things started progressing.
Moon’s sprint brought forth the excitement she yearned for since the last round, all of a sudden. "Bah!" Lexie retorted. "That guy is a scammer."
Though she said that, her eyes were following Moon, never leaving him. The same went for Nola, who was still in her wide-eyed, slightly dazed state.
"Just say you got tricked," Boa mocked.
"The round is finally getting good; I won’t bother myself with you," Lexie decided.
Below, in the ring, Zera gritted his teeth. "Dammit, disperse, disperse now!" he ordered as he stepped forward to where Moon was being followed by Dara.
Moon looked at the dome Samuel made. "Nice!" He felt more relieved now.
"GET BACK AND FIGHT ME, YOU COWARD!" Dara taunted Moon, who, in return, flipped his middle finger while running, not wasting his breath on him.
In response to the gesture, Dara sent Echo-fueled punches at Moon repeatedly.
Zera shouted again, "SPREAD OUT!" He stood in front of everyone to shield them while they dispersed.
On the other hand, Moon just slid back and forth between the attacks as he sensed their approach and direction, ignoring the wild notification sounds of Fate Alert.
If anything, he felt Fate Alert was just attacking him alongside them.
’Gotta ask if I can mute this mess,’ he made a mental note that he would probably forget as he got closer to Zera.
Once he was in proximity to Zera’s range, the one he used to take down his eye before, Moon replicated the moves he did earlier.
Only the first section of the sequence, forcing Zera to flinch defensively to protect his remaining eye.
Instantly—
Moon didn’t linger, though; he ditched him and jumped off his armor right away.
BOOM~
Taken off-guard, Dara’s attack landed squarely on Zera, who failed to block in time.
As a result, he was sent flying outside the boundaries.
Moon heard screaming noises from the audience, similar to the ones he heard last round, but he had no time to check where they were coming from.
He was running at the others in the ring.
’Why do I have to dirty my hands when we have an idiot?’ Moon laughed to himself as he ran.
One attack after another found one of the opponents; some of them gave up the cause after Zera was knocked out and ran away.
Moon swung the helmet in his hand at them before ditching it, leaving them to get knocked out by Dara’s attacks.
"How much more Echo does that bastard have?" Moon questioned how things were progressing.
"COME BACK AND FIGHT ME!" Dara was completely uncontrollable at this point.
Soon, before long...
Moon found himself alone in the ring with Dara.
"Oh, it’s just the two of us now?" he exclaimed before slowing down at last.
He looked back at Dara, who slowed down as well. "Your stamina, speed and Echo are impressive, mate... Too bad you lack badly when it comes to brains."
"YOU SLIPPERY BASTARD, FIGHT ME LIKE A WARRIOR!" Dara growled.
"Bro, you came here with like forty or something to fight me; what are you talking about?" Moon laughed at his words.
Everyone in the audience recognized this as the final stand of the long battle.
"So, it’s almost over at last... GO BOSS, SNAP THIS BASTARD’S NECK!" Basil shouted at the top of his lungs.
A little higher up, Lexie was catching her breath after cheering her hardest for a long time; she coughed a few times.
Next to her, Boa asked Talia, "Sister, how is that guy so strong?" she said, her green eyes fixed on Dara.
Talia brought a few stray strands of her crimson hair behind her ears. "Ever heard of the Specter Clan?" she asked.
Boa blinked. "Oh, that clan that claims to be the strongest of the middle floors?" She nodded before inquiring, "What does that have to do with him, though?"
Talia exhaled softly. "That clan has a very unique nature and structure. They have their own inherent style that’s strictly passed within the clan; no outsiders are allowed in," she explained.
"No one allowed?" Boa raised her eyebrows.
"Yes, except for another clan."
