Moon read the description one time after another. It was new to him, everything.
An armor that was indestructible on the lower floors, could be equipped instantly and unequipped in the same way, and could size-adjust to whoever uses it.
Moreover, it could be stored anywhere. It was as big as a bean.
"Sonva..." Moon went halfway through a curse before suddenly halting.
He closed his eyes and rubbed his chin. ’These bastards tried so hard to win.’
Moon thought to himself of the efforts they put in and the hustle they went through to gather all these ’scrubs’ to fight him.
He placed the armor in his pocket. "This should be useful, too useful even," he assured himself, happy with the results, even proud.
He had won against something he couldn’t fathom nor understand until it was defeated.
He leaned forward while seated. ’If I had this thing in the first trial, would I have won smoothly?’ he thought of the possibility.
The scenarios started playing in his head: slowly killing them one by one, slowly getting buried under the corpses and making his way out.
Slowly getting thrown around by the greater goblins’ strikes.
And finally, after long, very long days... he wins.
’Something is not right,’ he felt. His heart wasn’t steady...
If that were the case, then he wouldn’t have received the Memory Fragment, nor would he have had the crimson status window either.
Liquid Mountain wouldn’t have existed, and more importantly, the set of clothing that hid the scent of death lingering on him wouldn’t have existed either.
The pendant as well, the thing he used as his proof of authority and performed Arcane for the first time thanks to it, would also not exist.
Moon couldn’t help exhaling slowly.
’Well, I guess, after all... My situation isn’t the worst it could be,’ he thought to himself in assurance. ’Maybe I was really being taken care of to a certain extent.’
Moon finally decided not to dwell on the possibility any longer. Instead, his attention returned to the dead body of Dara. "So your clan is called Havoc. I wonder if they’re on your level of stupidity," he said before returning to his business.
He was not yet done looting.
Moon first checked Dara’s hands; they held two rings.
One was reddish, somewhat similar to the ring he won after defeating Colten but with a different design that he didn’t bother checking, for there was something more important.
The other was a ring similar to the one Uon and Ed watched weird things through.
Moon held it with both of his hands and brought it up to the sky. "At last, I got one of these!" he rejoiced.
Being the only one without one of them was stressing him out for a while.
He put both rings in his pocket for now before suddenly pausing. "Ah, did that dead bastard have one as well?" he wondered.
His hand had been inside the gauntlet; Moon didn’t bother checking it back then.
He glanced at Colten, who instantly averted his blurry gaze.
Moon rubbed his chin before deciding to let it go; it was his fault for not looting his enemy properly.
Moon decided to thoroughly search Dara, not leaving anything to chance.
Moving from his arms to his chest and shoulders. Then the broken-in-every-possible-direction neck.
Moon then looked into his pockets, his pants... he even took off his footwear to search.
He brought every piece of his belongings to the Tower’s status window for inspection, only to find out that none of them were items.
Still, his search wasn’t hopeless.
[Instant Crystal]
A crystal used to seal arcane for instant deployment.
Sealed Arcane:
Binding Chains
Effect:
Once deployed, a target must be set. The target will be chased by chains for 20 seconds. If the chains successfully bind the target, they will harden and lock them in place for 5 minutes.
Grade: D
Creator: Undisclosed
Moon squinted. "These motherfuckers!" he exclaimed. "They were really dead set on killing me by any means."
Moon was now sure of it; he also understood the weird feeling he got at the beginning of their Echo attacks.
Something that felt like it was activating through thin air, without sensing the owner’s Echo, without being able to track the source of who was actually controlling these chains.
Moon was glad he managed to avoid it somehow; it was a new and confusing situation to him.
’Maybe this round was far more dangerous than I expected,’ he thought, before stuffing the crystal inside his pocket.
Everyone was giving Moon a weird look regarding his looting and everything he had been doing. Sealing wounds with mud before looting his dead enemy thoroughly. Yet, Moon himself was oblivious to their gazes. His vision wasn’t that good right now, and as for his mindset...
He was doing nothing wrong.
Looting his enemy was the most logical thing to do... How else would he get resources for the future?
That’s how things were done on the first floor, even more so for slaves.
A slave would loot even those who were once on his side... An extra weapon is an extra life, and a small piece of moldy bread or a leather pouch half full of water would ensure his survival for another day.
Moon then stretched his body on the ground, resting his body and eyes before the notification finally came.
This time he didn’t get any new stat points, but overall it wasn’t bad.
A few minutes later...
Ding!
"At last!" Moon opened his eyes, looking at the [Congratulations] floating screen that he instantly dismissed. "Will take a look later, now I need to burn these wounds."
Another round of cheers erupted, but Moon wasn’t bothered... Not that he could see that well anyway.
As he was forcing his body up, he saw something in front of his face.
He squinted, trying to discern the details of what looked like... A hand extended to him.
Moon looked up at the owner of the hand; he saw red. Long, red, blurry hair running down a shining plate armor under the golden sky of the second floor.
Moon’s heart leapt into his throat; for some reason he couldn’t understand, he found himself stunned in place for a moment.
"Are you unwilling to take a helping hand?" A voice he was hearing for the first time sounded, yet it was perfectly befitting the image he had in his mind now that he couldn’t properly see.
"I..." Moon wanted to say something, but he didn’t know what to say. "I..." Once again, he tried to speak, but no words came.
His face looked more confused than surprised for some reason. Moon took a deep breath instead.
’What’s going on?’ he asked himself, forcing his mind out of its abnormally blank state. ’Am I afraid?’
His heart kept racing, but it was starting to slow down. His breath was steady.
But his mind was still in a weird state of confusion.
He remembered Talia, her confident face, her beautiful red hair he was seeing for the first time.
Among many things he was seeing for the first time, she was one of the most beautiful he had ever seen.
Moon realized what the problem was. Uon’s words also trailed in his mind.
Moon reminded himself slowly: ’I’m just a kid, mating season isn’t real, 9th bro is gay,’ he recalled the details.
His face began to relax, realizing that Talia was still waiting with her hand extended while he was in his inner turmoil.
"I just don’t know you," Moon finally said.
Talia didn’t flinch, nor did she retract her hand.
"My apologies, I should have properly introduced myself first," she said, before adding.
"My name is Talia of the Knights’ Realm."
