Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!
Chapter 135: The Tear-Engraving SwordWALL-E clapped his metal skull, and when he saw his master he quickly waved and grabbed the hem of his pants, tugging him toward the southeast.
“Slow down, slow down. I know the way—this time we don’t have to walk.”
Ye Qiyan scooped him up and took out a Train Coin.
The in-station travel Module engaged.
The outside Scorching Sun wind was too fierce, but with the Ice Vein Pearl he wasn’t worried.
However, when he had just touched WALL-E he sensed the little robot’s body temperature had already risen a lot.
There were quite a few scratches across the iron, boxy torso.
No need to let him keep suffering just to save a few Train Coins.
The whistle blared, wheels rolled.
When they reached the black forest to the southeast, the Train stopped. Ye Qiyan finally set WALL-E down, followed behind him, and walked in the direction exactly opposite from where he had taken Red Tears not long ago.
This was his second time here.
The dark forest echoed with the Scorching Sun wind.
“Don’t stray too far from me.”
He kept WALL-E within three meters; the Wandering Star Holy Sigil’s autonomous defenses would also help shield WALL-E from the hot wind.
“Why does it still feel like that?”
He had originally thought the forest’s mental influence was connected to Red Tears, but even after he retrieved Red Tears, the forest’s urge to provoke violence and bloodthirstiness had not faded.
In other words, it had nothing to do with Red Tears.
After moving through the forest for about forty minutes, WALL-E waved and pointed at a stone ahead—or more precisely, at a sword embedded in that stone.
“The sword in the stone? But why is it red?”
Ye Qiyan raised an eyebrow. The instant he saw it, he thought of the story of the sword in the stone.
But this shouldn’t be that.
He summoned Red Tears and Raven.
The Wandering Star Holy Sigil activated on its own.
Arrogance’s perspective shifted. Around the sword was a full black skeleton frame, gripping the hilt tightly. In those hollow eye sockets there seemed to be lingering resentment.
Ye Qiyan summoned Red Tears and Raven onto the boulder.
Suddenly, a ghostly-colored flame lit within the skeleton’s eye sockets. It trembled to rise as purple netherfire rushed at the two demons.
But it was useless.
Red Tears spread the demon wings at her waist; a localized rain of crimson droplets fell from the air, extinguishing the flames while easily corroding the black skeleton’s body.
Raven demon leapt forward with a clawed kick; the skeleton turned to bone shards.
The demons cleared the obstacle for Ye Qiyan.
He climbed the boulder and finally glanced at the black skull.
Raven demon stamped hard; the skull, too, became bone fragments.
“A tool more precious than a Demon Card—now that really piques my curiosity.”
He touched it.
System identification.
A light screen appeared.
[War’s Tear (Level 12 → ?)]
[When a war lasting one hundred years ends, only one remains on the battlefield. The girl’s tears engrave everything into this sword.]
[Only those who understand the true meaning of war may lift it.]
[Consumes mental energy to plunge an area into war-madness; the madness cannot cease until one side is completely victorious.]
[Collects the dead spirits on the battlefield to unleash once a sword qi no weaker than the strongest strike of that war.]
[It waits for the most suitable person to draw it.]
“Level 12? What does that question mark after it mean?”
If it were merely a Level 12 item, Ye Qiyan wouldn’t assume it was necessarily more valuable than a Card Sequence, but with that question mark it was different.
“Drawing the sword... the truth of war? How am I supposed to know any of that?”
Ye Qiyan frowned slightly. This was the first Level 12 item he had seen. He didn’t know why such a thing would appear at a mere Level 7 station, but if he couldn’t take it now he’d regret it later.
What should he do? Try to pull it out?
After hesitating a moment, Ye Qiyan stepped up to the sword, rolled up his sleeve, and reached out to grip the hilt.
But the instant he took hold of the hilt,
a strong mental influence tried to interfere with him.
His mental energy steadily dropped, quickly falling below the 50 threshold. If it had been someone else, they would have let go. Only Ye Qiyan didn’t.
Illusory scenes replaced the surroundings.
Shouts of killing, severed limbs, corpses piled up...
He seemed to be back on an actual battlefield, though Ye Qiyan knew clearly it was all false.
[“Mental: 41 (Witness Truth and Falsehood)]
[Negative effect: Tear-Engraving?!]
His mental state was being affected, but it didn’t truly trouble Ye Qiyan.
The purple-heart mist sphere he had obtained earlier slipped from his backpack.
Mist spread, and every war-related sensation vanished.
“Drawing it recklessly affects your mind, huh. That’s manageable.”
Ye Qiyan quietly withdrew his hand and looked at the sword, which remained unchanged in the stone, frowning.
He could have tried again. He had only used the pearl because he didn’t want his mental energy to fall too low.
“If it can’t be pulled out, maybe I should try smashing the stone?”
He had Raven demon test it but failed.
The boulder was also affected by the sword’s power.
Destroying it was no easier than drawing the sword.
After all, what vague truth about war is different for everyone—there’s nothing absolute... hm?
Suddenly, he realized something.
His gaze shifted to the Red Tears demon standing quietly to the side.
Wasn’t the power of Demon Card: Red Tears directly related to war?
If anyone here understood war best, Red Tears would be second only to... no one could be first.
So who else could pull the sword but her?
He used Red Tears to command her up to the sword.
Her pale hand grasped the hilt.
With only a gentle pull, War’s Tear was easily extracted.
The once-indestructible boulder immediately exploded into dust.
“Cough... that simple?”
Amid the limestone the boulder had become,
Raven demon flapped wings to purify the surrounding air.
Red Tears demon held the manifested war-sword and kept the lifted posture.
Red radiance spread outward along the blade.
In the sky, even beneath the Scorching Sun storm, nothing could stop it: a torrential shower of red rain drenched the entire Ancient Battlefield Ruins.
Red Tears demon walked silently to his side and offered the sword to its master.
“It actually worked, and its name changed, too?”
[War Manifestation → Tear-Engraving Sword (Level 13)]
Level 13?
The same level as a Hunt-Patrol Mech-Dragon with Transcend Mode activated.
No wonder this thing was judged more precious than a Demon Card. Now it made sense.
