Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!
Chapter 146: The One Who Made the First Move Was You["Big shot, why did you send a summon over?"]
Private chat interface.
["Give the item to it, and I'll completely unlock your train permissions."]
Altos' eyes shifted beneath his helmet. Turning his back to the raven demon, he retrieved a small box from a drawer.
["I trust you'll handle things properly, big shot. However, it's better if you come get this yourself. Just like you don't trust me, I can't be sure you'll actually unlock my system if I give you the item. We need to meet in person."]
His words made sense on the surface.
Except that if the space beneath this house wasn't filled with dozens of monsters stitched together from corpses, it might have been more convincing.
This guy was definitely planning something.
["So there's nothing more to discuss."]
Altos still wanted Ye Qiyan to appear in person.
The monsters beneath the house were growing restless and impatient.
["Final warning. Give the item to it, unlock the train, or this transaction ends here."]
["..."]
Altos lowered his head, lost in thought.
The private chat interface remained silent for a long while. After what felt like an eternity, Altos finally looked up and handed the box to the raven demon.
["Heh, if that's how it must be, I'll give you the item first."]
["Please don't forget to unlock my train permissions."]
Had he given up?
Ye Qiyan controlled the raven demon to open the box right in front of Altos.
Inside was a white card with a pattern depicting the shape of a tall tower.
Card Sequence? No, probably not.
Through the raven demon's contact, he remotely appraised the card.
[City of a Thousand Stars · Babel Tower · Central Gate Access Permission]
"?"
What was this?
Was there really a place called Babel Tower in the City of a Thousand Stars?
An access permission card - could it really be worth more than 150 Train Coins?
["Babel Tower? I've never heard of such a place in the City of a Thousand Stars."]
["Heh, it's a tower in the uppermost level of the City of a Thousand Stars. Rumor says it contains the city's most important treasure, though I've never been up there myself. I obtained this card by chance, and its value definitely exceeds 150 Train Coins."]
Truth be told, even Altos didn't really know what Babel Tower was.
He had obtained this card by betraying an Inspector from the City of a Thousand Stars at a station, taking it from their possession.
Fearing discovery by the city's authorities, he had hidden it in the lower districts, planning to investigate eventually. But in the very next station, he suffered retribution - betrayed by someone else and forced to remain in the Ancient Battlefield Ruins.
The raven demon tucked the permission card into its feathers and, under Ye Qiyan's control, turned to leave.
Altos watched the demon's retreating back, several small insects dropping from his armor to follow it.
Simultaneously.
Those stitched monsters underground also began moving through pre-dug tunnels, following under his control.
He thought he was being extremely discreet.
Little did he know that Ye Qiyan was watching everything.
"It seems that card must be quite valuable."
Altos had to fulfill the agreement because until the train system was completely unlocked by Ye Qiyan, he hadn't obtained full Train Conductor status.
The system still classified him half as a native of the train world.
Meaning the system's restrictions on him would continue until he reclaimed his full identity.
["Big shot, you've taken the item. Shouldn't you unlock my permissions now?"]
["According to our agreement, indeed I should."]
From his god's perspective, Ye Qiyan could see the stitched monsters surrounding him and Zhao Lin underground.
"Wait here, don't go too far."
"Okay, I'll listen to you, Qiyan-ge."
Zhao Lin didn't know what was about to happen, but she obediently moved closer to Ye Qiyan.
"You don't need to be that close... never mind, suit yourself."
Removing the little tricks the black market had installed.
Ye Qiyan had no intention of breaking his word.
Altos obtained full Train Conductor permissions.
The system's restrictions on him lifted at the same moment.
Inside the house, he let out a vicious laugh.
Slapping his armor.
"In such a hurry?"
Ye Qiyan smiled as he took out the Pure Cleansing Stone, its soft radiance spreading outward.
The stitched monsters used their arms to shield the eyes placed in various positions on their bodies, but unlike ordinary evil creatures, they didn't instantly dissipate.
Altos ran out of the house, laughing wildly.
"Kid, you really think you're invincible? Stitched monsters! Get that card back for me! I won't fall for the same trick twice! Even if you have that light again, it's useless now, hahahaha!"
The Pure Cleansing Stone having no effect didn't surprise Ye Qiyan.
After all, if this guy decided to make a move, his first priority would be to counter the cleansing stone.
"You've learned some tricks, unfortunately, they're useless."
The raven demon flew into the air, a storm of black feathers sweeping out with the beat of its wings.
The stitched monsters couldn't resist at all, being torn apart into components.
Altos hadn't expected the raven demon to be so powerful. Watching all his stitched monsters being defeated one after another, he panicked and ran back into the house, pressing the depart station option on the control system, preparing to escape.
The stitched monsters hidden underground crawled out and charged toward Ye Qiyan.
Wheels appeared, lifting this locomotive section. Tracks extended forward, the void leading to the wasteland appearing ahead.
As long as he could escape into the wasteland.
No matter how powerful the Train Conductor was, they wouldn't easily find him!
The answer was no.
"Red Tears, cut it down."
The Tear-Engraving Sword was drawn from its scabbard.
A swing.
The house locomotive was split in two by a deep crimson sword energy.
Altos inside was shocked, panicking and dodging, but still had one arm severed by the attack.
The void dissipated, departure failed.
The locomotive destroyed, system stripped away.
The stitched monsters couldn't resist at all, being torn apart into components.
"No, don't! How dare you do this! My train! Damn it! I already gave you the item! Why won't you let me go!?"
He roared wildly like a madman.
Standing at the higher position, Ye Qiyan casually crushed several insects underfoot. Even without using Arrogance, he looked down on the other, as if watching a clown in a circus.
"Don't get it wrong."
"The one who made the first move."
"Was you."
