Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!
Chapter 18: Advanced Module: Judgment of GunfireThe VIP upgrade granted more freedom regarding departure times. Finally, it was time for the Conductor Module Card received as a record-breaking reward.
"Red?"
Unlike the Special Module Card, this Conductor Module Card was blood-red in color. Its pattern wasn't a train either, but rather an abstract eye shape.
"My stamina and mental energy are both depleted."
Suppressing the urge to activate it immediately, Ye Qiyan lay motionless on the cold train floor. So tired... It seemed like ever since arriving in this world, he had been constantly exhausted.
Yet because of this, even in this terrifying wilderness, he could still sleep soundly. Clutching the Conductor Module Card, Ye Qiyan fell into a deep sleep.
......
Tonight, few could find sleep.
The chase of death filled the chat room with boundless fear.
["Didn't they say we'd be safe if we exceeded 30 km/h? How come some of those monsters are faster than that?!"]
["The broadcast only said we wouldn't enter danger status, not that we'd be completely safe. I think we need to reach Level 2 at 40 km/h to be truly safe."]
["Damn it! If someone hadn't bought all my resources, I could've reached Level 2 by now!"]
["I think most monsters can't catch up - only a few are fast enough. Thank goodness... I bought a gun from that expert and it saved my life. Too bad I only have three bullets left now."]
["Stop chatting and conserve your energy. Tomorrow brings Station Four... sigh..."]
["This is just the first night. Will there be even more monsters tomorrow?"]
["This world doesn't want us to survive..."]
["Better rest early... Tomorrow's Station Four might be safe. At least let me gather enough resources to upgrade my train."]
But fate had other plans.
[06:30:00]
The train broadcast sounded at this exact moment.
[E-3 Block, first night survival completed. Survivors: 3,825]
[Second night survival begins in three days. Trains below 40 km/h will enter danger status]
[Please upgrade your speed promptly]
[Reminder: Take necessary precautions]
The broadcast's gentle tone contrasted sharply with its chilling message.
Reach 40 km/h for the second night survival in three days? This meant anyone who couldn't upgrade their train to Level 2 within the next three stations faced certain elimination.
The already sleep-deprived survivors descended into panic.
["They really don't want us to live! Where am I supposed to get materials? Out of three stations, I only found one with trees! The other two were barely accessible! This isn't fair!"]
["I'm done for. Really done. I used everything for wheel upgrades - no wood, no parts. How can I possibly gather enough in three stations?"]
["Wait - Brother Li! Brother Li, help me! I'm in your alliance! You can't just watch me die!"]
["Yes, yes! Brother Li, I have Train Coins! I'll give them to you now, please think of something!"]
Watching the pleading messages flood the chat, Li Xiaosheng's lips curled upward.
He lacked no resources. By methodically using his talent to boost drop rates, he could upgrade again in about three stations' time - as long as train upgrades still required basic metals, wood, and mechanical parts. His upgrade intervals would never exceed three stations.
Though he didn't know who had beaten him to the first upgrade, Li Xiaosheng dismissed it as sheer luck. His own progress came from diligent use of his unique ability.
With this thought, Li Xiaosheng posted in the chat:
["All alliance members, don't panic. I'll find ways to help you complete your first upgrades."]
Then he suddenly remembered someone.
"That Ye Qiyan guy... he should still be alive, right? After selling so many guns, he should be close to upgrading. Could he be the one who beat me?"
The more he thought about it, the more plausible it seemed. Li Xiaosheng immediately sent Ye Qiyan a private chat request.
Only after sending did he realize - they weren't even friends.
"This guy didn't even add me? Whatever, considering his gun supply, I'll give him another chance."
Friend request sent.
Then, silence.
————
"Ouch, my poor back."
After sleeping most of the night on the floor, Ye Qiyan woke up sore all over. Groggily, he took out a White Forest Fruit from storage, washed his face, and watered the sapling.
Glancing at the time:
[8:34:44]
"I slept that long?"
Eating the fruit cleared his mind.
"Next survival night in three days? 40 km/h? Doesn't concern me. Brr, why's it so cold today?"
Yawning, Ye Qiyan opened the window to a bone-chilling gust.
"Huh? The weather's strange today."
Previous days had been sunny with clear skies, but now dark clouds shrouded the sun, creating an oppressive atmosphere that seemed ready to crush the world.
After a brief look, Ye Qiyan turned his attention to his right hand - more precisely, to the card it held.
[Conductor Module Card]
The second record-breaking reward. Only his depleted stamina and mental energy had stopped him from activating it last night.
[Stamina: 82] [Mental Energy: 110]
"Stamina not fully recovered? Did I overexert myself? Well, mental energy should suffice."
His talent activated.
Invisible energy enveloped the red card.
"Sublimation."
The familiar draining sensation flowed through him.
[Sublimation complete]
[Conductor Module Card → Advanced Conductor Module Card]
[Mental Energy: 110 → 80]
[Opening Advanced Conductor Module Card]
[Acquired Advanced Conductor Module: Judgment of Gunfire]
[Judgment of Gunfire]
[Mastery of all firearms. Sharply increased shooting aptitude. Can consume mental energy to enhance one bullet - the next shot will judge the target, increasing damage based on their sins]
New sensations flooded Ye Qiyan's mind. Drawing his Black-gloss Pistol, all previous clumsiness vanished. Holding the gun, he felt like a battle-hardened marksman - every casual shot would now hit exactly where intended.
