"Welcome to the Pet Arena~ Honorable Train Conductor sir, would you like a guide?"

After entering the Capsule Tunnel, Ye Qiyan stored his train in the Matrix.

Stepping out onto the platform, many fairly attractive men and women waited outside.

They were the arena's guides, natives who lived in the Hanging Gardens.

After their introductions,

Ye Qiyan gained a preliminary understanding of the arena.

As the name implied,

Train Conductors brought their summons, pets, manufactured machines, or whatever else into the arena to register for matches.

Winners would earn generous rewards.

That didn't sound like a huge amount.

After all, this was just a competition, merely a game to some Train Conductors.

Of course, for many ordinary Train Conductors,

dozens of Train Coins were already a substantial prize.

The arena had many betting booths for entertainment.

Every day, one could earn a fair amount of wealth.

However, Ye Qiyan's attention wasn't on that.

What he wanted to know was that the last time he had come here, he had explored much of the Hanging Gardens.

He'd gotten a bit of a feel for the city.

But back then, he'd never heard of such an arena existing inside the Hanging Gardens.

Even if this arena was located in District Sixteen, separate from where he'd previously explored, it should still have shown up.

"Ah, so you were a witness to the last falling incident, my apologies, my apologies."

The guide expressed respect toward Ye Qiyan.

The respect held not a trace of falsehood,

as if he were in the presence of a hero.

Then he answered Ye Qiyan's question.

"It's been three months since the last falling incident. This arena was established during that time and has become an entertainment spot for Train Conductors who visit the Hanging Gardens."

"As to why this happened, it was the great Minister of the Judgement Department and the honorable Mayor who protected and rebuilt the Hanging Gardens, performing a marvelous miracle!"

"And this miracle, with the reconstruction of the Hanging Gardens, is restoring the flow of time here back to normal, bringing it in step with the great, mysterious, and alluring Wasteland's timeline..."

Ignoring the guide's sudden bout of rhapsody, Ye Qiyan stepped aside.

Three months?

"I never expected they'd be able to manipulate the time flow between this city and the Wasteland."

"Interesting."

Top-level Train Conductors had endless tricks.

Many people might look like they were from the previous group who arrived three years ago.

But if someone could enter Advanced Stations,

you could no longer judge their strength by how long they had spent in the Wasteland.

No one knew how many years someone might spend in a station where time flowed extremely slowly.

In fact, there were probably very few people like Ye Qiyan who continuously hopped from station to station every few days.

After all, most didn't have WALL-E; it would take them far longer to find treasure chests.

Of course, such people would obtain more meticulous resources in a given station:

from high-level gadgets down to wood and metal.

In a sense,

Ye Qiyan was quite extravagant.

"Different time flows, so no way to contact Zhao Lin either?"

He pulled up his friends page.

"Huh?"

Two names were flashing there.

The first was the Zhao Lin he had just mentioned.

The other—

"Shaya? She's actually here?"

Ye Qiyan remembered what Zhu Xingshu had said not long ago.

He hesitated slightly.

He didn't contact Shaya for now.

After all, she was here and might be up to something again.

At least for the moment,

Ye Qiyan didn't want to get involved in whatever unknown plan that Charlatan Zhu Xingshu was cooking up.

He opened the chat with Zhao Lin.

["Where are you?"]

The Prosperous Guild's game arcade.

Zhao Lin was watching a slot machine that had just rolled three sevens, grinning, and in front of everyone she drew out a huge stack of tickets and took them to the counter.

She pointed at a blue crystal ball behind her to the stunned attendant.

"You promised, seventy thousand tickets and I can exchange for the grand prize. I want that one."

The attendant snapped back to reality, took the bundle of tickets—her expression complex—and fed them into a ticket-counting machine that had been working nonstop for hours.

Then she handed the crystal ball to Zhao Lin.

"Co-congratulations, you're the first customer in this shop to... win the grand prize, could you—"

"Hey hey hey!"

Zhao Lin took the crystal ball and dashed out without looking back; the attendant calling after her was futile.

Outside the game arcade, she placed the crystal ball into the storage bracelet on her wrist.

Zhao Lin pulled a tablet connected to the train communication system from her backpack, saw a special alert avatar flashing on the screen, and a radiant smile spread across her face.

["Qiyan ge, you're in the Hanging Gardens too? I'm in District Twelve.

Honestly, it's terrifying. I only got in this morning. After entering I realized there's no way to contact the outside, and there's something about different time flows I don't understand?

Luckily you're here too, otherwise I wouldn't know what to do."]

["I'm in District Sixteen. Do you know there's an arena here? Come find me."]

["Huh? I might have heard about it, Qiyan ge, is something going to happen there?"]

["I'll take you to make money."]

Ye Qiyan was the first to enter the arena, paying one hundred Garden Coins as a spectator.

The interior seemed space-compressed.

The enormous venue was divided into dozens of sections.

Each section contained independent arenas.

After spending the one hundred Garden Coins, he could enter any of the arenas to watch, provided there was room.

Additionally, between the arenas, many natives and former Train Conductors who had stopped moving ran all sorts of businesses.

From their behavior,

unlike Suoluo City and the City of a Thousand Stars,

in the Hanging Gardens those who had abandoned their Train Conductor identity seemed to hold very low status.

They were even bullied by the natives here and dared not resist.

After waiting for a while,

Ye Qiyan sat in an open-air café.

He heard sneaking footsteps behind him.

A slender hand lightly tapped his left shoulder.

Ye Qiyan smiled wryly and reached to his right.

"Heh heh, caught by Qiyan ge again."

Seeing Zhao Lin, Ye Qiyan released his grip on her arm.

"You've done this before, right? Ever succeeded?"
