Train Survival: I Can Evolve Everything!

Chapter 575: Station Forty-Three: Miranda City

It wasn’t hard to understand why Don Quixote revealed his name.

This old knight was a true brave soul. The words he had just typed in the chatroom had gone unanswered.

But now, with the strength of the sixth-ranked fighter in this sector, some people would start to take him seriously.

He would turn into a noble knight, offering aid to anyone in need.

But is that really good?

This is the Wasteland.

Being a good person in the Wasteland is difficult.

Maybe one day he would be betrayed, and when that time came, would Don Quixote still be the same as before?

Ye Qiyan didn’t know, because Don Quixote’s story had now gone beyond his own, moving forward in this Wasteland.

Fate, the future, nothing is fixed or unchangeable.

But who is this person called Forgotten?

Such a strange name.

Ye Qiyan didn’t ponder it further and continued checking information about Miranda City.

After finally finding some details,

today he would enter that city.

As for what he planned to do...

Eat, drink, and be merry?

Well, at least before Zhu Xingshu’s and Menrojina’s plans kicked off, he simply intended to go to that city to rest for a few days, nothing more.

He took out the invitation and swiped it across the light screen.

Platform confirmed.

The system’s light screen changed immediately.

[Miranda City has been selected as your Station Forty-Three]

[Ping~]

[Exclusive Module: Crossroads of Fate triggered]

[Please choose your station platform to enter Miranda City from the following two stops]

[Platform One: Type-One Mana Potion Company Subspace Platform]

[Platform Two: Drowning Heart of the Hanging Sea]

“I choose Platform One.”

Ye Qiyan silently noted the place name Drowning Heart of the Hanging Sea. From past experience, when the Crossroads of Fate offers a second option like this, that alternative usually has something special about it.

[Selected]

[Train Conductor Ye Qiyan, your Station Forty-Three is... Miranda City]

[Dear Train Conductor Ye Qiyan, may your journey traverse the stars]

[Please remain seated and hold on, the train is about to arrive—Station Forty-Three]

The void appeared, the rails extended.

When the blaring whistle sounded, Ye Qiyan was about to step onto his forty-third train adventure.

A new city, everything unknown.

“This time, I definitely won’t be the city destroyer, haha.”

As the train passed through the void and gradually slowed, the view outside the window once again became the familiar subspace platforms owned by every Type-One prefixed company.

“Aren’t they all exactly the same?”

Ye Qiyan wasn’t in a hurry to go out. He watched WALL-E, who looked a bit down beside him.

“It’s okay. This isn’t a Station World, so not finding treasures is normal. Rest in the carriage for a bit. Go to the power-supply car; that Goshawk should be able to make more plasma food now.”

WALL-E nodded. The disappointment in his emotion module slowly faded, replaced by eagerness as he went off to find the Goshawk.

The train doors opened. Ye Qiyan stepped outside and casually picked up the subspace key placed by the doorway.

Eve jumped down from the roof, eagerly planting herself in front of Lisette.

Lisette had accompanied him at the previous station; this time Eve also wanted to come.

Anyway, leaving the train here was relatively safe. Guards for the train could be left to Augustine and the Goshawk.

Ye Qiyan had no intention of refusing.

Eve happily wrapped her arms around Ye Qiyan’s arm, her rabbit ears sending up little heart-shaped bubbles that floated upward.

He used the key and opened the door.

The scene outside resembled the offices from Suoluo City and the Boss’s office in City of Eternal Night.

An elderly white-haired woman froze for a moment when she saw him, but then tears of excitement streamed down her face as she prepared to kneel before Ye Qiyan.

Ye Qiyan sidestepped the kneel.

“Finally, you’ve finally arrived!”

When the old woman saw him dodge, she wiped her tears and immediately stood up again, excited and jubilant as if she had completed the most important thing in her life.

“You know me?”

“No, I don’t know you. I only know that Ms. Gina said that if someone walked out from this door, my mission would be complete and I could leave this company to live my own life! Sir, this is the letter Ms. Gina left for you! I—I’m going now!”

She opened a drawer and revealed an envelope inside.

Without waiting for Ye Qiyan to say anything, she cheered and ran out.

The closer she got to the office door, the younger her once-ancient face became.

Not exactly beautiful, but fairly presentable.

“It’s over, finally over! My karma, ha, haha! Seven years! I finally waited for this day!”

Watching the woman run out of the office, Ye Qiyan couldn’t help but mutter.

“Lucky me, I didn’t owe her karma. This would drive someone insane.”

Karmic Retribution—the power of that card sequence—was indeed formidable.

And this woman was the first person Ye Qiyan had seen completely repay Menrojina’s karma and escape from here.

Hmm... probably fully repaid, right?

He glanced at the drawer. Eve beat him to it and opened the envelope, converting the letter’s words through the rabbit ears above her head.

[“Brother Ye, you don’t need to do anything at this station, and don’t worry about that charlatan Zhu Xingshu. The scenery of Miranda City is quite pleasant. If you arrive early enough, before everything begins, enjoy yourself for a while.”]

[“This place will give you an experience completely different from previous cities.”]

[“So, worry not.”]

[“Don’t forget, you can trust me, at least until I have repaid the karma I owe you.”]

[“Oh—after the Suoluo City incident, the chains entangled around me because of you have become ten again, hehe~”]

The letter burned away as it finished.

Ye Qiyan could more or less understand why Menrojina left this letter here.

Zhu Xingshu, that charlatan, was unreliable after all.

Staying in a city with her would mean constantly worrying whether one was already in grave danger.

Menrojina had come for Ritual Cards, but Ye Qiyan had no real objective here.

Everything here seemed unrelated to him.

But who told him he’d promised that charlatan?

If you promise something, you have to try to fulfill it.

“Master...”

Lisette looked over with some concern.

“Forget that. Don’t lose sight of why we came.”

“Eat, drink, and be merry?”

“Right. Eat, drink, and be merry. This Miranda City is a pure sword-and-magic city, completely different from anywhere we’ve been before.”

When Ye Qiyan stepped out of the company with the two mechanical girls,

everywhere he looked were medieval-like natives, mana-powered vehicles, and a round domed arena directly ahead.

Why was Ye Qiyan so certain he wouldn’t become that abstract “city destroyer”?

Because Miranda City was built on flat ground with no hierarchical tiers. Several city-states had united into one, a special city that could even be described as a nation.

No matter how unlucky he was, with so many city-states, they couldn’t all be destroyed at once, right?
