This was truly surprising.

Ye Qiyan had never expected that hidden inside the Wish Machine would be a fragment of a Blasphemy Card.

Including this fragment, that meant his third Blasphemy Card only needed the final one-third to be complete.

The DF Wish Machine's logs and the residual information on the Blasphemy Card fragment also provided him with a lot of information about the Wasteland.

"Using the power drawn from a Blasphemy Card as an energy source? Come to think of it, that fragment we encountered on the Novice Station also worked like this."

Staring at the fragment floating in his hand, Ye Qiyan drifted into thought.

"The Silver Tribe... and that previously seen race that used magic-tech—it's impressive that those civilizations figured out a way to siphon part of a Blasphemy fragment's energy."

The gains from this station exceeded his expectations.

What had originally been just a stop to earn some Train Coins had turned into far more: not only did he get the money, he also used Salvation to rescue two Abukado members, and most importantly, he acquired a fragment of a Blasphemy Card.

The canopy above was completely cut through by Red Tears' sword.

The sky returned to its natural state above this Dongbo City.

The sun hung high, while a thin, steady drizzle fell to the world below.

Light and rain overlapped, creating subtle shifts in color across this realm.

The threads that had been siphoning people's lives disappeared.

Yet many people still died here.

Within the shattered Sky City.

Feng Qianye silently held the two half-transparent figures of a man and a woman collapsed at his feet, cradling them in his arms.

He walked into the depths of the Sky City.

He gathered the surviving members of his Guild, boarded a train, and left this world.

Where did he go?

Feng Qianye himself did not know.

He only knew he did not want to be powerless again when something like today happened, unable to save friends.

He only knew that the only way to bring the two back to life was to keep moving forward out in the Wasteland.

Perhaps one day there would be a chance for them to awaken.

Perhaps...

————

The rain stopped.

People in the city cried in grief.

Ain and Koleira had fallen into slumber after touching that thread and only now had finally awakened.

As a Hero, Ain felt the people's sorrow and entered the city, doing everything he could in the name of a Hero, as a Hero, to save others.

Koleira did not share that intention.

Now she stood with her hands behind her back, lips pursed, lingering slowly near Ye Qiyan's train.

"Um—Lord Altos! Could I get your autograph?!"

At last she got her chance. She pulled out that special Wanted Poster, held it with both hands, and bowed to present it at a ninety-degree angle.

That same Wanted Poster.

She had thought it had looked cool the first time she saw it, and she still felt the same.

He thought for a moment and did not refuse.

He used the Master Brush to write the name Altos on it.

He was not afraid anyone would use that signature for something.

After all, it read Altos, not Ye Qiyan.

"Thank you, my lord! Rest assured! When I return to Abukado, I will provide you with intelligence to repay your kindness! If that Ain dares to say anything, I'll kill him for you!"

Koleira was ecstatic. She treasured the signed Wanted Poster and boarded her own train in Sky City to leave early.

She did not plan to go straight back to the Abukado base.

After all, she had lost to Altos; it would be fitting to leave some hard-to-heal wounds on herself, to play up that she barely escaped with her life.

This Station World seemed to have no more tasks left.

But...

There was actually one more thing.

A Wuzhong walked to the side of the train, respectfully dropped to one knee, and presented the girl seated in its palm to its master.

Sherry.

Ye Qiyan's Wish-giver at this Station World.

A monster that produced the train upgrade material Snow White's Heart.

A tragic species, born to be hunted by Train Conductors.

This was a mission station.

Perhaps by winning the Wish War and smashing the Wish Machine, the mission would be considered complete.

But...

Ye Qiyan felt it was not enough.

Her wish was to escape the fate of having her heart taken.

So had she escaped now?

No.

Because as soon as Ye Qiyan left this world, she could not go back to that village. Her final outcome would be to end up out in the wild, dying from hunger or being discovered and hunted by a Train Conductor who later visited this Station World.

Ye Qiyan did not care much himself, but if it concerned the mission...

"Sherry."

"Brother Hero... are you leaving?"

"About to."

"Could I—"

"No."

Ye Qiyan shook his head and gave a faint smile while Sherry's eyes dimmed.

"My train is picky. It doesn't like outsiders boarding, but what do you want to do after this? Do you plan to go back to the village, or continue hiding your nature and stay in this city?"

Sherry bit her lip and forced out a somewhat sorrowful smile.

"I... I don't know... Thank you, Brother Hero. If it weren't for you, I would have long ago died in the village. I really want to see everything you all have seen, but... I guess it's impossible. I'm just a monster, not human. How could I become a Hero..."

Ye Qiyan liked that answer.

He sensed reluctance in Sherry's words.

He also felt that this little Snow White girl's wish had shifted.

She no longer only wanted to survive.

She wanted to move forward.

And because she wasn't human she couldn't become a Hero?

That wasn't necessarily true.

Ye Qiyan snapped his fingers.

[Permission—Newcomer Invitation]

[Can invite a single lifeform from the current Station World (preferably one with human traits) to become a novice Train Conductor eligible to enter the Novice Station World]

[That new Train Conductor, after completing the Novice Ten Stations, will be automatically assigned to your Sector]

This permission, which had cost him a lot, had only been used once so far.

The target had been Chloe in the Nation of Odd Laws.

That girl should by now have passed the Novice Ten Stations and been assigned to his Sector.

However, Ye Qiyan did not plan to contact her proactively.

Making someone the new Train Conductor was enough.

"Here's an opportunity."

"An opportunity?"

"Yeah... in this world, it means a chance to become a Hero."

Ye Qiyan opened his palm.

The Demon’s words echoed in the girl's ear—

["I'll ask you one question."]

"What question?"

["Do you want to become a Hero, right?"]

For some reason a single tear rolled down Sherry's cheek.

She nodded heavily.

"I—I want to become a Hero as strong as big brother!"

Ding!!

A battered yet brand-new locomotive section dropped out of the void.

At that moment, the System's notification sounded in Ye Qiyan's ear.
