Chapter 25: 25. Black And White Mist

The deeper tunnel of the D-rank dungeon had turned almost completely white with cold mist.

Pale crystal light along the walls now glowed a harsh, frozen blue.

Water that once dripped from the ceiling had frozen into thin needles of ice. The air bit at exposed skin and carried the sharp scent of winter mixed with residual beast blood and scorched metal.

Broken vines, scattered green scraps, and the dark stains of earlier combat still marked the stone floor.

The temperature continued to drop with every passing second.

The Oni stood several steps back in the thickening fog, pure black eyes still locked on the mark on Kael’s left wrist.

His broad red shoulders rose and fell with uneven breaths.

The earlier arrogance had drained from his face, replaced by open confusion and lingering fear.

He kept turning the sight of the five dragon heads over in his mind, trying to grasp how a low-rank human could carry something that should not exist on this side of the world.

The Crimson Path team did not give him time to finish the thought.

Tina’s bowstring snapped first. Her long black hair shifted across her bare shoulders as she drew and released in one smooth motion.

Twang! Twang! Twang!

Three green-tipped arrows cut through the mist in rapid succession, forcing the Oni to twist aside. At the same moment Brianna slammed her staff down again.

The thick curves of her green body tensed with the motion.

Fresh vines erupted from the frozen stone and shot upward, coiling tightly around the demon’s legs and remaining free arm.

Dean charged through the opening. His heavy fist crashed into the Oni’s ribs with a solid, bone-jarring impact.

Thud!

Ryn followed an instant later. The oversized sword, still glowing with pale mana, swept upward in a clean vertical slash.

Slash!

The blade cut deep into the Oni’s left arm, nearly severing it at the elbow.

Dark red blood sprayed across the white mist. The demon staggered, pure black eyes widening in pain and rage.

His single horn caught the crystal light as he tried to pull free.

He tried to step aside, spinning the remaining shackle to clear space, but the vines held his legs and Dean’s bulk kept pressing forward.

Arrows continued to force him to twist and duck, limiting every movement.

The cut arm hung nearly useless at his side while the cold mist swirled thicker around the sudden counterattack.

Seraphine joined the assault without hesitation.

Her petite frame moved like a silver-white streak.

The torn transparent dress clung to her pale skin and small breasts as she darted in from the side, the dagger glowing deep crimson, aiming for the Oni’s exposed neck while he struggled against the vines and the two men.

The red Oni fought desperately to fend them off, pure black eyes flicking toward the exit path through the mist.

’That bastard... how did he get the mark when he is just a normal weak human? I need to flee and report it to the mistress.’

They almost had him cornered.

Then the Oni threw his head back and roared an incantation in the harsh demon tongue. The words scraped through the air like broken glass.

His red skin began to glow from within.

Thick black-and-white mist poured from his mouth, eyes, and the open wound on his arm, spreading outward in a sudden violent wave.

Every member of the team felt the same dangerous instinct at once.

Seraphine, Tina, Brianna, Ryn, and Dean all leaped backward as far as they could to avoid the mist.

Dean was a fraction too slow. The tip of one finger brushed the expanding mist.

"AHHHH.."

His scream tore through the tunnel.

The finger turned completely black in an instant, the flesh rotting and hardening as if burned by pure corruption.

Without hesitation Ryn swung his oversized sword and severed the blackened finger at the joint.

Dean’s second scream was louder and raw with pain as blood sprayed from the fresh stump.

The red Oni was no longer red. The black-and-white mist wrapped his entire body until only a dark silhouette remained.

The mist itself had changed.

No longer the cold white fog of the dungeon, but a swirling mix of pure black and pure white that carried a heavy, oppressive weight.

From within that swirling darkness the Oni’s voice came out low, wet, and full of vicious pleasure.

His expression, barely visible through the mist, twisted into something deeply sinister.

"Today you got lucky. Next time I will not run. I will drag that silver-haired vampire bitch down first. I will rip that thin dress off her body in front of all of you. I will force her on her knees and make her choke on demon cock until her crimson eyes roll back.

My brothers will take turns filling every hole she has while she screams and cries. We will pump her full until her belly swells and the cum leaks down her thighs in thick rivers.

She will become nothing but a dripping cumdump for the demon army, used every night until her mind breaks and she begs for more.

And the little swordsman who cut my arm... I will peel the limbs from his body one joint at a time and hang what is left of him from the ceiling.

He will watch while we fuck his beloved dark elf to death right in front of his eyes. He will hear every wet sound, every scream, every time she breaks, and he will be able to do nothing but bleed and watch."

Even as he spoke the threat, his pure black eyes flicked once more toward Kael.

A thin residual fear still lingered there when they touched the mark on Kael’s wrist.

Then the black-and-white mist swallowed him completely and he fled deeper into the dungeon, the corrupted fog trailing behind him like a living shadow.

Kael’s hands clenched into fists.

Cold anger burned under his skin at the words aimed at Seraphine.

’Talking about my daughter like she is a toy to play with... When I gain enough strength I will make sure this bastard dies in the most painful way I can invent.’

The corrupted black-and-white mist slowly thinned, leaving only the frozen tunnel and the heavy silence that followed the Oni’s escape.

Kael reached into his bag, pulled out a basic healing potion, and tossed it toward Dean.

"Use it on the stump. It will not regrow the finger but it will stop the bleeding and the pain."

Dean caught the small bottle with his good hand, still breathing hard through clenched teeth. He poured the clear liquid over the fresh cut. The bleeding slowed almost at once.

Kael watched the last traces of the black-and-white mist disappear into the deeper darkness of the tunnel. His thoughts stayed sharp and practical beneath the lingering anger.

’Why did he flee when he could have probably ended us all in this dungeon? Does it have to do anything with the mark on my hand or does his ability have some limits? But either way we are saved today. I need to gather up all the Lust Points I can to buy the necessary skills to get stronger. For that I need to accelerate the corruption of my stepdaughter first.’

He turned to Seraphine.

The torn dress hung loosely from one shoulder, the earlier damage from the shackle still clear across the fabric.

A thin cut marked her cheek where the metal had scraped her.

Kael stepped closer, uncorked another healing potion, and carefully dabbed the clear liquid over the wound on her face.

Seraphine’s crimson eyes locked onto him with the usual open hatred.

She did not pull away, but the look she gave him was pure dislike.

Kael finished treating the cut and spoke quietly.

"Sorry, Sera."

The unexpected apology made her blink once in clear surprise.

The sharp retort she usually carried stayed silent for a short moment.

Kael did not wait for an answer.

He moved to Brianna next, checking the scrapes along her green arms and shoulders from the earlier vine backlash and the force of the spinning shackles.

He handed her a potion and nodded toward the deeper cuts.

"Use this. It will close the worst of them."

He then turned to Eira, who still stood close to his side, crimson-tinted black eyes watching everything in silence.

"Take a potion and help Tina. She took some of the wind and debris across her arms."

Eira gave a small nod and moved quietly toward the dark elf.

Kael looked around at the battered group and the frozen tunnel ahead.

"We should rest here for a short while. Check wounds, recover stamina, and decide whether we keep going deeper or turn back. That Oni is still somewhere ahead. Rushing in now would be stupid."

The cold mist continued to drift through the tunnel while the team began to tend to their injuries in the harsh blue crystal light.
