"Isn’t that the woman who was eating that frozen treat? Xiaonan, why are you following her?" Jim Thorne recognized her, but he really didn’t want to follow. The heat was killing him.

"Hurry up!"

Tang Xiaonan didn’t have time to explain and just darted toward the road. Jim Thorne and the others rushed to catch up, completely baffled by what she was doing. She was acting so mysterious.

The woman walked quickly. They followed her for more than ten minutes until she entered an upscale guesthouse and went upstairs.

"Xiaonan, what’s the deal with that woman? Did she chew you out or something?" Jim Thorne was sweating profusely.

"No."

Tang Xiaonan shook her head. She wanted to find out who this woman was, and a plan quickly came to her. She walked right into the guesthouse, telling Jim Thorne and the others not to follow. She went in alone.

After rubbing her eyes until they were red, Tang Xiaonan ran to the receptionist at the front desk and asked in a sad little voice, "Ma’am, I can’t find my auntie."

"Oh, don’t cry, little one. What’s your auntie’s name? Where is she staying?" The receptionist had a gentle voice and even fanned Tang Xiaonan to cool her down.

"I don’t know... My auntie is really pretty. She’s wearing a green dress, and her hair is super long and curly... She took me out to have fun, but I made her mad, and she said she didn’t want me anymore... *sob sob*..."

Tang Xiaonan stammered out a description of the woman’s clothes and appearance while rubbing her eyes. The receptionist didn’t suspect a thing and said with a smile, "Oh, you must mean Miss Spann, right? She’s in Room 602. I’m sure your auntie was just trying to scare you. Don’t cry now. Go on up and find her. Do you want me to take you?"

"I can go by myself. Thank you, Ma’am! You’re so nice."

Tang Xiaonan mentally gave the kind, simple-hearted receptionist a "good person" award, but a question lingered in her mind. ’Her surname is Spann? For some reason, the name immediately brought Jacqueline Spann to mind. But that felt absurd. There were so many people with that surname; they couldn’t all be related to Jacqueline Spann, could they?’

She went upstairs for a moment before running back down, holding a dollar in her hand. She grinned at the receptionist and announced, "My auntie gave me money to buy a treat!"

"Go on, then, but don’t wander off too far." The receptionist thought Miss Spann was being a bit careless. ’How could she let such a little kid go out to buy things all by herself?’ Still, the neighborhood was quite safe, so it would probably be fine.

Tang Xiaonan came skipping out of the guesthouse. As soon as she was out of the receptionist’s sight, she grabbed Jim Thorne and the others and broke into a run. ’I’m sorry,’ she silently told the receptionist, ’I hope I don’t get you in trouble.’

"Xiaonan, what in the world is going on?" Jim Thorne couldn’t take it anymore. ’Why is my sister being so weird? Don’t tell me she’s possessed or something.’

He reached out and touched Tang Xiaonan’s forehead. It was sweaty, but she didn’t have a fever. ’Probably not possessed, then.’ Tang Xiaonan irritably slapped his hand away and told them what she had overheard.

"It was about Aunt Green. I heard it perfectly clearly. That woman is definitely planning to harm Aunt Green."

"Why would she want to harm Adrian Hawthorne’s mom? There’s no bad blood between them. It’s probably just someone with the same name," Jim Thorne said, finding it all too unlikely. ’What are the odds? That we’d just happen to overhear a phone call from one of Rosalind Green’s enemies, all the way out here in Capria, a world away from home? It’s just impossible.’

"I’m telling you, it’s true! I didn’t mishear. She wants to harm Aunt Green!"

Tang Xiaonan puffed out her cheeks. She’d bet her head on it—this woman was absolutely one of Rosalind Green’s enemies.

Ellie Ashton chimed in, "Who’s Rosalind Green? Can you explain in more detail? I can help you figure it out. My uncle’s a master at solving crimes, and I’ve picked up a thing or two."

"Let’s talk about it when we get back inside. It’s too hot out here," Clayton Xavier proposed. "Either way, we should tell Kenneth."
