"Uh... Is Yohan oppa home, sir?" Soohi asked after bowing respectfully.
She thought it must be Yohan’s father or someone from his family.
Weren’t things bad between oppa and his family?
She looked inside over the man’s shoulder who seemed somewhat annoyed at her.
"What man are you talking about, kid? We just moved here three days ago," the man said, slightly closing the door behind him to block Soohi’s view. "I don’t know who lived here before us, but apparently they skipped town. Ask the contractor if you wanna know more. Don’t come knocking on my door again."
And thus the door was shut in Soohi’s face as she stood there, quite dumbstruck.
"Oppa...left?"
The idea seemed strange and foreign. This place had always had Han Yohan behind that now off looking door.
It was as if she could just knock now and he would come out complaining about how she always drops in uninvited.
Her feet moved first than he eyes that still somewhat lingered on the door.
Yes, right, the contractor! I should go to the office downstairs!
And so she did.
But before entering inside, she flipped out her phone and dailed Yohan’s number.
[beep.... beep.... beep.... click. The number you’ve dialled is no longer valid. Please correct and retry. The number you’ve dial ....]
Soohi cut the call and tried again.
It’s okay. That sometimes happens when the line is too busy.
[The number you’ve dialled is....]

[The number you’ve dialled is...]

[The number you’ve dialled is...]
*CLICK.
Soohi eventually stopping calling as every single time, the answer was the same.
The same computer voice telling her that the number she was dialling no longer existed.
It’s okay. Maybe something happened with his family.... I should just ask the landlord.
Soohi rushed in the office and asked for the landlord.
The person arrived a bit later. It was a wrinkly old lady who seemed like someone’s grandma gone rogue.
She sat down, offered Soohi some tea and listened to her enquiries about Han Yohan.
"Oh dear, this puts me in a different position," she said as she placed down the cup with her trembling hands. "That boy asked me to not disclose his personal information to anyone who comes by asking for him."
"Did...he...now?" Soohi less asked and more confirmed.
"He seemed very troubled," the grandma said. "I even offered him some concessions on the rent if he was having a hard time but he seemed adamant on leaving. Saying things like there was nothing here he needed now."
"Oh. I see."
"Were you perhaps related to him by chance? I’ve seen you come by his place a lot," the old lady asked, looking concerned.
"Oh! Me?! I...I’m not related to him...in any...way...at all. I guess, I really am just a stranger....hahaha... It’s just we had been out of touch for a while so I thought I would drop by.... I just know him through my brother and he helped us a lot....so"
"Oh dear, here," the grandma offered a handkerchief withsewn in strawberries to Soohi. "Don’t cry now, you must be so heartbroken, oh sweet child."
Without even realising, Yeon Soohi had started crying her eyes out while explaining herself to this old lady who seemed kinder to her than the one she loved.
It was heartbreaking how at this moment, she couldn’t even claim how close she was to Yohan because at the end, she was just his friend’s younger sister.
Nothing less and nothing more.
And it broke her already battered heart into a million pieces.
How could he!? How could he just leave?! Without even saying a word or anything?!
The questions swarmed her mind as her eyes became more and more red. She didn’t even notice her phone ringing that the old lady picked up in her place as Soohi seemed entirely out of it.
"Oh dear, you’re this girl’s friend, now," she talked to the person on the phone. "Well, she’s sobbing so sadly, would you mind picking her up? I’ll tell you the address."
(....)
"Ah yes, here. It’s 43rd street, near....."
Soohi eventually cried herself to sleep on the old lady’s couch when the door opened and someone walked in.
Seo Nabi looked worriedly at Soohi as she saw her eyes swollen shut.
The grandma offered her some tea too and she booked a cab for them while drinking and surprisingly, chatting well with the old lady.
"Yeon Soohi, wake up, we need to go," she called for Soohi as she shook her awake.
Soohi looked up Seo Nabi’s beautiful face in a daze as she was half asleep.
But as soon as she recognised her, her eyes welled up with tears again.
"Nabi-ah.... He left... Yohan oppa left....hic...waaa!"
"Yeah. I heard. Let’s get going now."
"Waaaa!!!"
Seo Nabi supported her up and bowed to the old lady as they left for the cab.
After getting her sobbing ass in the cab, Nabi sat down beside her. All the way to Nabi’s place, Soohi was a crying mess.
Nabi stayed quiet the entire time. Her mind was filled with her own indecisive thoughts.
Now she had a choice.
She could just use this chance to take up the empty spot in Soohi’s heart. They could just start dating and Nabi was confident she would make Soohi head over heels for her in just a little bit of time.
But... a sense in the back of her mind was telling her that maybe... her crush didn’t mean to leave her like that.
Maybe if Soohi went after him and looked for him, they could meet up and reconcile.
Nabi imagined Soohi laughing freaking happily while meeting that male omega.
It would surely make Soohi extremely happy... but...
...it was just too sad.
Nabi couldn’t imagine herself only being the supportive friend watching Soohi from afar. She didn’t have the confidence that she wouldn’t fuck up their friendship if Soohi started dating someone else.
And that male omega... that fucking jackass!!
Ever since Nabi came to know Soohi, the only time she had seen her troubled, was because of this freaking omega!
He had been stringing her along for three whole years and she even heard he was much older than Soohi!
Surely he thought that Soohi would just blindly wait for him if he just threw her a bone here and there...
Nabi glared at the sobbing Soohi beside her as Soohi was now using her shoulder as a headstand.
This idiot was dancing right on his palm like a circus monkey!! How little pride does she have?! But...
Nabi suddenly remembered Soohi’s first image she saw when she helped her during her heat.
The clear eyes and dependable face as well as safe feeling she felt in her presence.
A slight blush appeared on Nabi’s cheeks.
Her pheromones...
"...smell like flowers...." Nabi mumbled as she looked outside the window.
Can I be the bad guy just this once?
Soon, they reached Seo Nabi’s place, where she lived alone with her older sister, who was also an omega.
But she was mostly out because she was a researcher at a pharmaceutical company.
Nabi took Soohi up into her place and told her to wait in her room as she went into the kitchen to fetch her some water.
As Nabi came inside the kitchen, she panicked and cussed herself out.
Seo Nabi!! Have you lost your mind?! What was I thinking, bringing her to my place?! What if she misunderstands?!
But Seo Nabi had absolutely nothing to worry about as Yeon Soohi was too busy crying her own sorrows out to notice a certain stunning omega making moves on her.
She wolfed down the water that Nabi brought and as if the tank had been refilled, began oozing it out of her again.
Nabi was now getting sick of seeing her crush crying her eyes out over an unrequited and possibly nonexistent love.
Nabi tried to distract her by offering to watch a movie or something together but all her efforts were in vain to calm down Soohi.
But they were not unseen.
Soohi looked at Nabi for a but and said.
"I know you’re worried about me. But you don’t need to worry. I’m okay. It’s just...oppa going away so suddenly is so sad for me that I can’t stop crying..."
"What’s so sad about it?"
"Just the thought that I can’t see him whenever I want anymore is breaking my heart..."
"Is that guy that important? Don’t you have any other people in your life?"
Nabi snapped in annoyance.
"Ah, my mom is pretty casual but after dad, my brother and I try to worry her less. And my brother... ugh... he doesn’t make things easier either! He’s probably off having fun with his boyfriend right now. I’m so jealous!!"
"Then just date too."
"But.... oppa is gone... who would I even date?"
Date me.
Nabi’s mind yelled out. She pressed her lips.
Her eyes traced Soohi’s face.
...
...
Fuck it!!
Suddenly she lunged forward and pecked on Soohi’s lips.
Soohi looked at her in shock as she put her fingers on her mouth.
"Date me."
"..."
"...I’m here."
