The baby was... absolutely adorable.
Yoon Beom stood up from his seat and peeked over Songrik’s shoulder just to get a glimpse.
"But how...? This should clearly be a dream?" He mumbled as Songrik hid his baby behind his shoulder even further. "How are you here?"
Songrik didn’t want anything to do with Yoon Beom anymore.
He proceeded to walk away as he gave a disappointed look to Beom.
"I’ll tell you!!" A desperate cry emerged from Yoon Beom. "I’ll tell you where Doha is..."
Songrik paused.
Then he turned around and his face held nothing but disdain for the man in front of him.
"So you knew and were just playing games with me?" Songrik scoffed. "What’s the catch? You clearly did not have a sudden change of heart."
"... ... One month," Beom answered as if saying it after weighing his options. "Live with me as a family. Like a normal family, along with the kid. Then I’ll tell you where Doha is."
"..."
"Just one month."
"And how am I supposed to do that? You’re in prison. I don’t think I want to play house with an inmate when my child is involved in this."
"Leave that to me. I’ll get out. So... live with me like a normal family."
"Why should I believe you? How do I know that at the end of the month, you won’t just walk away? Give me proof that you know where Doha is."
"I will. Come meet me at my address in a week. Surely you know my address if you found me here."
"... ... Okay."
Songrik walked out of there and as soon as the door to the visiting room closed, he collapsed on his kness tightly grasping his baby.
"Aboo..." the child cooed.
Songrik took a deep breath and looked at the child with a bright smile.
"Suha-ya, were you bored?" Songrik talked to Suha.
It was a baby boy with pitch black hair and golden eyes.
His face was the exact replication of Yeon Doha.
"Aaaa ggguuu," Suha responded in cackling baby sounds.
"Are you hungry? Let’s eat," Songrik hugged Suha as he put in his stroller that was waiting outside.
"We will need a lot of energy to find daddy after all."
Baby babbling could be heard going out of the prison as Songrik adjusted his wig.
"We will find daddy soon, baby."
And the lady with a child disappeared into the streets.
Two days later, Songrik was in front of Yoon Beom’s house in the city.
He knocked on the door and it was opened by Beom.
"You got out pretty quickly," Songrik snapped as soon as he saw Beom’s face.
"I have my ways," Beom smiled.
The said ways were of course Najun.
Be on had told Najun a fabricated story about the evidence he had planted in advance in case he needed to get out.
Boom never actually wanted to be in prison.
But he knew if he had to escape from Songrik’s father, there was no better place than prison.
After all, even Songrik himself couldn’t escape his father in the real world.
Beom welcomes Sure and Songrik inside.
"You have a decent house," Songrik said as he looked inside which was clean to a level of OCD.
And it was all decorated with antique pieces.
It was maybe impressive or concerning that not a single spot in the entire house had a speck od dust.
That’s something Doha would do...
Songrik found himself thinking.
They were seated and Songrik was offered tea and Suha a bottle of sweetened milk.
It was the most delicious tea Songrik had ever drank that it felt wrong to actually admit it.
"So? How are you going to prove to me that you know where Doha is?"
Songrik asked as soon as he put down his tea cup.
Beom smiled at Suha and looked at Songrik.
"Hold my hand and call my name," Beom said. "And under no circumstances, are you to let go of my hand."
Songrik felt a little suspicious of this.
But he was willing to give this crazy person the benefit of the doubt if it meant finding Doha.
He awkwardly held Beom’s hand and said.
"Beom."
Nothing happened.
He looked at Beom in anger but he was looking back in disappointment.
"Say my full name," Beom told Songrik.
Songrik winced and said it looking right into Beom’s eyes.
"Yoon Beom. "
And Suha stared at the empty spot where Songrik was sitting just a second ago.
"Be a good boy and wait, Suha-ya," Beom smiled at Suha as he closed his eyes.
Songrik... opened his eyes and found himself in a... rose field.
No, rose fields.
Sprawling in all directions endlessly.
Slight wind blew his hair.
He could feel Yoon Beom’s hand in his hand but there was no one beside him.
It was quite an eerie feeling.
And in the distance, there were two figures standing.
One was a himself (?) completely naked. Though he gave off an assholic vibe that he didn’t have.
And the other person... was Yeon Doha.
They were standing near an oddly placed bathroom and seemed to be arguing.
But Songrik couldn’t hear them, he tried to run closet to Doha, but Yoon Beom’s hand in his hand held him firmly.
Doha was right in front of his eyes.
He looked confused and distraught.
Songrik wanted to run to him and tell him that he came looking for him.
That he was waiting for him.
But he couldn’t move an inch.
He yelled out Doha’s name.
Calling out to him.
But he didn’t hear it.
He couldn’t hear it.
The other Songrik started walking away from Doha, who stood there, as if trembling in fear.
Songrik couldn’t bear to watch him like that.
As he yelled out his name and tried to free himself from Yoon Beom’s grasp, Beom talked to him.
"Yeon Doha can’t see or hear you," Beom told Songrik. "And did you forget the only rule."
Beom’s voice became low.
"Under no circumstances, are you to let go of my hand."
Songrik grit his teeth.
"Why?" He asked. "Just let me meet him once. He’s miserable!"
"... "
"Say something!"
"You’ll merge with the other part of your soul if you let go of my hand," Beom said. "Right now, we both are split into two people, polarizing our emotions. My soul is split into Yoon Beom and Yeon Doha. Similarly, your soul is split into two too. Rikki is your soul’s that half that wants to die. You’re the half that he’s been suppressing this whole time."
"What do you mean I’ll merge with him?" Songrik asked.
"Souls like to be complete," Yoon Beom’s voice explained as his grip on Songrik’s hand became stronger. "If a soul’s halves meet each other in the same dimension, they’ll merge. That’s why I was keeping mine other half and you in the dimension I created from Sarang’s novel. And your other half, I was keeping Rikki trapped here to punish him."
"... " Songrik became quiet. "Does that mean none of my life or memories are real?"
"They are," Yoon Beom said. "I simply used my manifestation to make your dimension exist. That does not imply that you were created artificially. You, in your reality, always existed and lived your life. I just made it possible for me to interact with your dimension."
"Then how am I real in your world too?" Songrik was getting more confused than cleared.
"First, understand how my power of manifestation works, " Beom said. "To think it is real, makes it real. That is my power. I thought it was real that you were half of my world’s Songrik. And it became real. It just that."
"... "
"Say my name again."
"... ... Yoon Beom."
Songrik opened his eyes.
He was back at Yoon Beom’s house and Suha cackled as soon as he saw Songrik appear before him again.
Beom was still clasping his hand tightly.
Songrik awkwardly yanked his hand away.
"Is that proof enough?" Beom asked.
Songrik checked on Suha and then turned back to Beom.
"Just one month," Songrik declared. "Not a single minute more. I want you to send both me and Doha back to out dimension."
A brief pause came.
"And never interfere with that world again. Promise me."
Yoon Beom didn’t say anything. But he looked a little displeased.
"Okay. I promise."
He stood up and dragged out a suitcase.
"Shall we leave then?" He said, smiling.
"Where to?" Songrik asked, confused.
"To the place where we would live together for a month," Beom said, brightly.
Songrik winced as they sat in the car and travelled on a similar road that Yoon Beom had first travelled at age of four.
They were going to the family house in the countryside to live together.
Songrik was impressed when he saw the house.
"Is that your family home?" He asked looking at the traditional design. "It’s beautiful."
Beom stared at his face.
"What?" Songrik asked.
"I didn’t know you could give complements like that," Beom chuckled as he brought in his and Songrik’s luggage.
"How did you manage to gather this much stuff when you’re from another world," Beom said looking at suitcases.
"Suha needs baby stuff," Songrik said as he walked in the front door.
This was the house where they would stay for one month together.
Songrik sighed.
