Neo fell silent as the pressure crushed down on him. Asmodeus opened his palm, and the force slammed into Neo like an invisible hammer. Neo’s knees hit the ground hard. He could barely lift his head toward the demon.
He gritted his teeth. "What the hell is this skill?"
Asmodeus grinned, sharp and satisfied. "Gravity. I can increase the gravity of any object I choose. I can even lower my own. Makes me light as air while you feel like the whole sky is sitting on your back."
Neo’s eyes widened. The skill was strong—dangerous. Worse, it perfectly countered his own skill, Heavy. That meant every time he tried to weigh himself down for power, Asmodeus could simply crank the gravity higher and pin him in place.
His mind raced, searching for an opening, a plan, anything. Asmodeus gave him no time. The demon shot forward in a blur, kicked Neo square in the chest, and sent him flying into the open sky. Neo tumbled, estimating the distance as the ground dropped away beneath him.
Asmodeus snapped his wings open and closed the gap in a heartbeat. He reached Neo in the air and launched into a relentless barrage—fists, kicks, elbows, every strike landing with bone-rattling force. He never let Neo fall. Every time Neo started to drop, another blow drove him higher or sideways, keeping him airborne and helpless.
Neo could barely keep his eyes open. Pain flared through his ribs and shoulders. At this rate he would die. He forced his thoughts to slow, hunting for a way out. Then his eyes widened. He had seen the perfect skill earlier in the system shop.
Negate. It could cancel any status effect a demon put on him. It would cut straight through Asmodeus’s gravity hold.
He cursed under his breath. He still had no regeneration or healing skills. That had to change right now.
Neo opened the shop, bought Negate, then dumped every remaining mana stone into every healing skill he could find. The purchases flashed across his vision one after another. He didn’t hesitate. He activated his combination skill and fused every healing ability into a single new one: Healing Form. The description was simple and brutal—grave wounds would close in a single second. Broken bones, torn muscle, internal bleeding—all of it would reverse almost instantly.
Warmth flooded his body. Flesh knitted. Bruises faded. Strength returned in a rush. Neo grinned through the blood in his mouth, then drove his fist straight into Asmodeus’s chest.
The demon’s eyes widened in pure surprise. The punch launched him downward like a meteor. He split the air, smashed into the ground with a shockwave that cracked stone, and left a deep dent in the shape of his body.
Neo dropped back to solid earth, fully healed. He glanced toward Tara’s side of the battlefield and let out a short breath of relief. She was holding her own. Good.
Then a new idea hit him. He could combine Heavy with My Fist of the Weight of an Enemy. The system chimed immediately.
Ding. Host has discovered a legendary combination. Reward: S-rank skill—Weight of the World.
The description was clear. When Neo struck an enemy with the skill, the blow would carry one thousand times the enemy’s own weight.
Asmodeus erupted from the crater like a sharp arrow, wings beating hard, and hovered high above Neo. His voice carried easily across the distance. "You are the first person who has forced me to use my hidden form. Be honored."
Blue light exploded around Asmodeus’s body. His frame bulged with raw power. His wings stretched wider and grew jagged. Blue armor covered him from head to toe, thick with thorns. His mouth and horns twisted into something more monstrous.
Neo tried to check the demon’s true level, but Asmodeus was already moving. The demon blitzed in close and drove a fist into Neo’s ribs, sending him flying again.
Neo twisted in the air, found a foothold the moment he touched ground, and met the next charge head-on. Asmodeus kicked. Neo activated Weight of the World at the exact moment of contact. The impact reversed. Asmodeus shot sideways through the sky like he had been struck by a mountain.
Neo entered Torch Man mode. Flames wrapped his body. He rocketed upward, chasing the demon, and hammered him with beams of fire mixed with every combat skill he owned. The two of them became twin stars colliding again and again high above the battlefield—fire against blue armor, fists against claws, neither willing to yield.
Neo pushed harder. One final combination of weight, fire, and raw force finally broke through. Asmodeus’s armor cracked. The demon’s body went limp. Neo’s last strike ended him.
Paimon felt the death of his ally. A teleportation portal snapped open nearby. The second demon fled without a word.
Neo flew back to Tara. Her eyes widened when she saw the Torch Man flames still burning around him. She sighed. "Goddess Pyra would probably go nuts seeing you like this."
Neo nodded once. He checked his mental link to the Beard Demon and the Masked Demon. Both were close to catching their targets. Time was running out. They needed to repair Nyx’s seal before the others returned.
Neo asked the system how to fix the seal. The answer came clean and direct: enter the seal and use a dark-attribute core to slowly fill the cracks.
He fell silent. He was pyro. Tara was a demon without attributes. Neither of them carried darkness. Then a new idea surfaced. He scrolled through the shop again and found Mana Nature Changer. The skill would let him rewrite his own mana—and the mana of anything he held—into whatever attribute he chose.
It cost two million mana stones. Neo winced, then bought it without further hesitation. He activated the skill and forced his core over to darkness.
A new notification appeared. Ding. Torch Man mode has been changed to Darkness Lord mode. Does host wish to enter?
Neo nodded. Darkness flooded him. His body turned pure black, a living silhouette of shadow. Only his eyes remained, shining with hard white light.
He pulled the two hundred mana hydro blocks from his inventory, converted every one of them to darkness attribute, and began absorbing them.
Suddenly Neo received a notification. Darkness Monarch mode unlocked. At this state host would be the direct herald of Nyx and would be a candidate to become attribute manifestation.
Neo’s eyes widened. "No. I don’t want to become attribute manifestation." He didn’t want to stop being a man. He wanted to keep his body.
