Neo scrolled through his system options one by one. The only path that let him copy the skill needed Nyx’s blessing, and the demon labeled 2026 was not a woman. He shook his head. Simple solution then. Kill it. Store the body in his inventory. Maybe revive it later as a minion and find another way to take the skill.

He glared at the demon and lunged. The thing’s massive mouth opened wide, packed with fangs, some of them coated in a thin green film. The demon lunged right back, jaws snapping for Neo’s throat. Neo teleported a short hop sideways, pulled a sword from his inventory mid-motion, and slashed the demon’s side from the flank.

The demon hissed. The wound sealed almost at once. It turned its head slowly toward him, then shot forward again, aiming to shear off his arm. Neo’s reaction kicked in. He teleported his whole body clear. The speed difference was brutal. The only reason he was still alive was the teleport. Without it he would already be meat.

He settled into a rhythm. Teleport. Cut. Teleport. Cut. Each wound forced the demon to spend energy closing it. Neo kept the pressure steady, never staying in one place long enough for a clean bite. After a stretch of this the wounds started staying open longer. The demon’s breathing grew heavy. It panted, sides heaving.

Neo exhaled once, hard. He swapped to the Sword of Nothingness and put everything into the next slash. The blade opened a deep, gaping cut across the demon’s torso. Blood poured out in thick sheets and pooled around its feet. The demon’s eyes flared red. Red light crawled over its body. Muscles swelled. The eyes themselves vanished, replaced by a black mark shaped like staring eyes. Its legs locked. One massive fist shot out, clamped around Neo’s head, and slammed him into the ground.

Pain exploded behind his eyes. Vision swam. He could barely hold a thought. When he forced his eyes open two facts hit him at once. First, the impact had probably cracked his skull; part of his sight was gone. Second, the demon’s speed had jumped past anything he could track by normal means. He pulled up the status window through the haze. Star 14.

Neo gritted his teeth. He forced his eyes to steady for one clear second and drew the Tabte Sword. The demon felt the aura and started circling him at high speed, a blur of motion. Neo understood the window. One clean chance. Miss and the thing would finish him.

He dragged in a slow breath. Watched the path the demon took. Calculated the next pass. Lifted the sword and swung with every bit of strength left in his arms. The blade met the demon exactly at the midpoint of its body. The cut went clean through. Two halves hit the ground. The demon died.

Neo let out a long breath and stored both halves in his inventory. Then he teleported straight back to the control room where the girls waited.

He looked at Metatron and Greenla. Opened his system again, scrolled until he found the mini bombs—each one packing a five-thousand-ton blast. He pulled out a hundred of them and handed the stack over.

"Right wing. Plant them and get clear."

He pulled another set, these rated at ten thousand tons each, another hundred, and passed them to Bilial.

"Left wing. Same job."

He turned to Uriel. "Go with Bilial. Watch her back."

Uriel shook her head. "I’m staying with you."

Neo sighed. He had no real control over what she chose. She took his hand anyway, guided him down until he was lying on his back, and told him to rest. He stayed there, eyes half-open, watching the auto machine guns chew through the remaining demons outside.

The three women left to plant the bombs. Uriel settled Neo’s head on her lap and ran her fingers through his hair in slow, steady strokes.

"How about we have sex now so I can heal you?"

Neo looked down at his own body. The wounds this time were worse than the last set. Deeper. More of them. He spoke without lifting his head.

"I need a high-ranking angel woman for this."

He pulled a magic scroll from his inventory, wrote a short message to Gabriel explaining the damage and that he needed sex with her to recover, and sent it. On the other end Gabriel sat at her desk. Her eyes went wide the moment she read the lines. She shouted once in pure alarm when she realized how bad the state had to be for him to write that poorly.

She abandoned everything on the desk, stood, and teleported straight to the scroll’s origin point. She found Neo lying there, face gray, eyes barely open, the look of a man running on fumes.

Neo managed a few words. "The other three are planting the bombs. We wait for them before we leave."

Uriel and Gabriel both went quiet for a second. The loyalty in that choice—refusing to run while the rest of the team was still in the field—hit them hard.

Time stretched. Then the three women came running back, bombs set in both wings. The moment they were all in sight Gabriel locked onto the group and teleported everyone to the army headquarters. Neo reached into his pocket, pulled out a small device, and pressed the switch. The water building behind them erupted in a chain of explosions that tore the structure apart.

They stood in the hallway of the headquarters. Gabriel moved faster than anyone could track. She pulled Neo clean out of Uriel’s hold and faced the others.

"I’m healing him. The rest of you go to your rooms."

Support Team 7—the three angel women plus Uriel—hesitated. Then one of them spoke for the group.

"No. We stay near him. We take care of our leader."

Gabriel felt the force of that refusal. They were rejecting a direct order from her, and they were doing it out of loyalty to Neo. The timing was still wrong for arguments. She sighed.

"You know what I’m about to do. You’ll stay silent?"

Uriel and the three other angel women nodded. They were not idiots. They understood exactly what Gabriel meant by healing. They nodded again and told her they would stay silent.
