He stood at the edge of the choked riverbank and his eyes widened. A huge amount of green mist rose above a corpse that blocked the river flow. It was enough to make the river overflow to the side. Above it the mist came in intense amount, thick streams pouring upward without pause.

He stepped closer through the flooded mud, checked and inspected him. The status window locked into place.

Mist devil. Rank middle rank tribesman.

Racial skill: he could send a mist coming out of his body and control it to kill his enemies by inhaling. Alert. Once this demon dies his body would keep releasing all the green mist he stored in his lifetime.

He sighed looking at him, thinking finally he found the source. The corpse kept pumping mist into the air even in death. That explained the spreading poison.

But then he heard a loud rumbling from the ground. The earth trembled under his boots. He saw a titan slowly push from the trees, snapping trunks and dragging roots as it forced its way into the open.

Eva’s eyes widened. "A titan? But what does he do in this parts?"

Neo told her to stop. He noticed how from the titan’s eyes came green mist, thin trails leaking with every blink. He then noticed the wounds on the titan—deep gashes across the arms and chest that should have dropped any normal creature—and he realized this Titan wasn’t controlling himself.

His eyes checked its status and his eyes widened.

Puppet titan (green mist control it) level peak high level tribesman.

He told Eva to fall back and hide behind trees. She moved fast, ducking behind a thick trunk. The titan noticed them and rushed at them, each step cracking the ground.

The titan was 20m. He could see the titan was looking for them, head swinging left and right, mist still leaking from the eyes as it closed in.

He took out his spear this time and did his special move, attacking the titan feet. The blade struck true. The titan feet exploded in a spray of flesh and bone. The titan roared, the sound rolling across the clearing, then looked at him angrily, hitting with a punch that shook the ground hard enough to knock loose dirt from the trees.

He used the chance to jump over his hand. The fist slammed down where he had stood. He landed on the rising wrist and walked across the thick arm until reaching his shoulder.

Looking at his neck he decided to do the nuclear reactor move and sliced the titan neck as much as he could. The spear tip flared white. He drove it forward.

He realized the green mist made a barrier before he could attack and reach his neck. The strike skidded off. He stopped for a moment, thinking: I should use my mind. I can’t attack blindly. I would end up only wasting time and that would only make me fail the quest.

He sighed and took a deep breath. His eyes sharpened. Alright. I know what to do.

He realized what he needed to do. Just a moment after he hit the titan he needed to use the teleportation scroll he got from mage Zor and transport his attack to the other side of his neck.

But he realized the titan was walking and shaking his hand, trying to slap him over his shoulder. The massive palm swept across. He realized his plan needed him to steady himself.

He kept jumping around the titan neck from both sides, landing, pushing off, landing again. Each time the massive palm tried to hit him and throw him off that place he was already moving. Sweat ran down his back. His breathing stayed steady.

He sighed and shouted at Eva. "Hey! Give me a hand here and use your veins skill."

Eva nodded. She finally thought this is my time. She stepped clear of the tree and launched veins. Thick green strands erupted from the ground.

He shouted, "Tie the titan arms together at full force on my signal."

The veins waited, coiled.

Then he said, "Now!"

Veins shot from the ground, cutting the air and grabbing the titan hands, locking them together across its chest. Muscle strained against the bindings. The titan roared again but the arms stayed pinned for the needed second.

He used the chance and hit with his nuclear reactor move. The spear flared. This time he also used the teleportation skill after it. The glowing tip vanished mid-thrust and reappeared on the opposite side of the neck. He managed to transport the attack, hitting the other side of the titan neck. He finally was able to slice his head.

The titan head fell, tumbling. The corpse followed suit, falling with a loud thud that sent a shockwave through the mud and water.

He dropped down and walked to Eva. "Are you alright?"

She wiped dirt from her cheek. "Yeah."

He wiped his forehead. Killing a single titan was really hard. The system still said get rid of the source of the green mist....

He walked to the devil that kept releasing green mist and stored his corpse. The mist cut off the moment it vanished into storage. In his mind he planned he would take it to Pyra in that volcano area to burn it.

Yet he feared she would think he was treating her like a dumpster that burns all bad things. He realized he needed to find a way to tell her that without her getting offended.

He sighed and realized something weird. The quest completion notification didn’t come.

Then he remembered he needed to save the dragon tribe too. His quest had already stated it. He needed it because it said both tribes. He looked at the massive footprints that belonged to the titan. There were so many, overlapping, deep. He thought an army of them had marched here and they already were walking towards and heading towards the dragon tribe.

Neo cursed under his breath. "Did this green mist take over a titan tribe or something?"

Eva walked by his side. "There was indeed near this clearing a titan tribe. They used to come here and take water to drink."

His face darkened. This explained how they got infected by it. It must be because some of them accidentally drank the water and the green mist entered his body.

He said, "Is this river the only river here or..."

Eva shook her head. "There are many and this one closest to the titan tribe... there is another one that is separated from it that reach our tribe and we use it to grow our food.

But...." Eva stopped letting the word hang as she thought.

"But what?" he asked.
