"I am surprised you left so quickly."

Isolde spoke after she and Naomi walked out of the Medical Camp. Aevrienne was still floating around her with this lazy look on her face.

"She said he needed rest."

Naomi answered.

"Well..."

Isolde didn’t say anything else.

It made sense.

Lucian was holding on for much longer than any normal being would have, so yes, he did need rest. Not to mention... with that woman standing right next to him, staring at everyone around him, it was difficult to stay.

’She cares about him.’

Just that possibility alone was terrifying.

’I need to talk to Grandma.’ Isolde thought inwardly. Then, once she prepared her mind, she turned towards Naomi and—

"I should leave now."

"You are leaving?"

Naomi chuckled.

"I was hoping you’d forget that..."

Isolde groaned.

Then, she just shook her head and puffed her chest again.

"It does not matter. Someone of my stature is not attached to worldly desires, you can have the silvers."

"You don’t care?"

"I do not."

Isolde nodded as she stood with that overdramatic expression again.

"Then why not give me a little more?"

Naomi didn’t miss the chance either. Isolde looked at her, then—

"I would have, but I see avarice in you. That is a sin I cannot allow you to indulge in, I must stop you from indulging."

Naomi just rolled her eyes.

Isolde laughed, then, she left.

Naomi stared at her as she walked away.

"She’s... interesting."

Aevrienne commented with an amused look on her face.

Naomi laughed.

"She sure is..."

She stood there for a moment, staring at the witch’s back, then she glanced at Aevrienne.

"What is it?"

Aevrienne asked when Naomi kept staring at her in silence without actually saying anything.

"Nothing. Just... thinking."

Naomi answered with a somewhat lost look on her face.

"What are you thinking?"

"How much my life changed within a few hours."

Naomi had this reminiscent smile on her face.

"The idol I prayed to because I believed it calmed me down turned out to be an Ancient Spirit who then pulled me inside a Trial.

Inside the Trial, I met an actual witch, then other supernatural beings, Werewolves, Vampires, Relic Hunters, people you would only read about in books or watch in anime or a fantasy series.

One such supernatural being actually grabbed me and lifted me in the air.

Then finally—

After everything, I ended up with the power of an Ancient Spirit, a power coveted by the world’s most renowned supernatural geniuses and then I was recruited by the Enclave, a supernatural organisation that manages all this stuff."

"Your life has changed."

Aevrienne nodded, looking at Naomi with a smile.

Naomi kept smiling as well.

She didn’t feel wronged.

If anything, she was grateful.

The moment Lucian became what he did and she got involved with him, her life stopped being normal.

She turned into a liability, someone who needed to hide her relationship with Lucian just so she wouldn’t be targeted.

But now...

She could become strong enough to not only stand by his side, but also be able to help or protect him.

And Naomi—

She needed that.

"Let’s wait for him to recover, shall we?"

She spoke, thinking of sitting somewhere around and waiting for Lucian. Aevrienne nodded, but just as she moved a little—

"Naomi Pierce?"

An Enclave staff member walked towards Naomi. His eyes glanced at Aevrienne, the spirit smiled, looking at him with curious eyes.

"Yes?"

The staff member’s focus returned to Naomi when she answered. He recalled what he was here for and—

"Your parents are still outside the perimeter."

He informed.

"My parents?"

Naomi’s face changed.

"Yes."

"They’ve been waiting for you for almost eight hours now."

"What...?"

Naomi’s eyes widened in surprise.

"Where are they?"

She asked directly.

"I’ll show you."

The staff member offered. Normally, he would have just pointed out where her parents were, but Naomi was no longer a normal human. She was Aevrienne’s Contractor, any favour from her, no matter how big or small, could have a strong impact, so he needed to leave a good impression in her mind.

Naomi, being new to this, did not notice it.

She just nodded and started following him.

"You know the story?"

He asked as they walked towards Naomi’s parents.

"Yes, gas leak."

Naomi nodded.

Lucian told her everything when he found her inside. She thought her parents had left, but it seemed they were more worried than she initially thought.

Well, it did make sense.

She had Lucian protecting her, they however, were completely in the dark.

"They were told that you were affected by the gas leak and were being treated by the emergency authorities inside. You only woke up now, so you should act a little weak in front of them, else they will be suspicious."

He explained the general story.

"Yes."

Naomi nodded.

The staff member nodded back, then, once he showed Naomi where her parents were, he left, not wanting to waste more of her time.

He had already left a somewhat decent impression, spending more time would only risk making it worse.

Naomi nodded, then, as she stared at her parents from a distance, she thought of something and turned towards Aevrienne instead.

"Can you... hide?"

She asked.

She obviously did not want her parents to see a silver-haired woman floating right next to her.

That was ghost 101.

"You want me to hide...?"

"Yes, I do not want them to be involved in the supernatural world, so the less they know, the better."

"I see."

Aevrienne nodded.

Then, she floated close to Naomi, her body dissolved into silver light, then the light moved towards Naomi before disappearing inside her body.

Naomi felt a strange coolness inside her.

’Is it good?’

She heard Aevrienne’s voice inside her head.

That made Naomi flinch again.

"Please don’t talk so suddenly."

She spoke as she calmed herself down.

"And where are you anyways?"

She asked.

And Aevrienne—

’Didn’t you see?’

She asked.

’I just came inside you.’
