Two Realms: I Will Become the Immortal Emperor
Chapter 325 - 297: Seeing the Traveling PalaceChapter 325: Chapter 297: Seeing the Traveling Palace
"Who could have imagined True Master Chixia would hide his Traveling Palace in a place like this? He was so cautious. It’s no wonder it hasn’t been found after all this time."
Xiao Chan sighed in admiration. Noticing the others looking at him, he added,
"The Primordial Sect still hasn’t given up on finding True Master Chixia’s Traveling Palace."
The others grimaced at the thought.
When Cultivators choose a Traveling Palace or Cave Mansion, they always pick a Grotto Heaven Blessed Land, a place of elegance and beauty.
But upon a moment’s reflection, they also understood that True Master Chixia did this to guard against others.
After all, although he was powerful, he was just a Loose Cultivator. How could any Cultivator in this world not have enemies, aside from a few close friends? And with eight other Cave Mansions, he had truly taken the principle of "a sly rabbit has three burrows" to the extreme.
"Let’s go!"
Meng Qianxun formed a Seal Technique, releasing his True Essence to push aside the muddy swamp.
At the same time, his body, like a lead weight, began to sink.
Seeing him dive in seemingly without any defenses, the others didn’t dare to be complacent. They quickly summoned their Magical Artifacts to protect themselves, just in case.
For a time, a constant whistling filled their ears as the swamp churned around them, blinding their eyes and deafening their senses.
For a Cultivator, as long as their Divine Sense wasn’t obstructed, their vision was almost unaffected. Within the swamp, countless snakes, insects, rats, and ants swam and scurried about. The sheer density of them and the hissing, rustling sounds they made were enough to make one’s skin crawl.
"If I hadn’t obtained the map, even I wouldn’t have thought the Traveling Palace was here."
Meng Qianxun led the way, remarking casually as he went,
"This is the safest path I’ve scouted. It’s guarded by only a single Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon. The other directions have several, or even dozens of them, making it impossible to get around."
The group extended their Divine Senses to investigate.
They immediately sensed several powerful sources of Demon Qi entrenched in the distance. A few other Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragons were playing, their thrashing bodies causing the surrounding swamp to ripple like ocean waves. Directly below them, however, there was only one Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon.
"Go around it?"
Chen Che asked.
"No. We kill it."
Meng Qianxun turned back and glanced at the others.
"It’s the closest to the Traveling Palace, and there’s a Grand Array outside the palace. Trying to break the array will inevitably alert it. Rather than leaving it to cause us trouble later, it’s better to deal with it now."
The group’s Divine Senses swept past the creature, and sure enough, they saw a faint glimmer of light shining from beneath the Marsh Dragon.
Clearly, that was the light emanating from the Traveling Palace.
But...
That Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon seemed a little too large. It was at least three hundred zhang long, far bigger than they had imagined. Its entire body was covered in bronze-colored Scale Armor, looking as if it had been forged from molten bronze and iron. The deeper the color, the greater its age.
And on its forehead grew rows of eyes. There weren’t just a hundred of them—there were well over two hundred pairs.
Even when they were half-closed, they exuded an intense, oppressive aura.
"Elder Meng, are you kidding me?"
Chen Yin spoke up, his tone a mixture of dissatisfaction and disbelief. "This Marsh Dragon has to be at least at the Fourth or Fifth Layer of Golden Core..."
"Wait..."
Chen Che studied it carefully for a moment before explaining to the astonished group, "This Marsh Dragon looks ancient. I’m afraid its lifespan is almost over. The few of us can definitely take it on."
The others hesitated for a moment, then all turned to examine it more closely.
Only then did they notice that not only did it exude an aura of decay, but its Demon Qi was also somewhat weak. They had been so intimidated by its size that they hadn’t noticed these details earlier.
Meng Qianxun formed a Seal Technique, appearing to begin an Array Formation.
"These Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragons must be the Mountain Guardian Demon Beasts left behind by True Master Chixia. They’ve probably been entrenched here for several generations. This one is particularly old, which makes it easier to deal with. My only concern is that fighting it will alert the other packs."
"Oh..."
It dawned on the others. It was just like dealing with vicious guard dogs.
If one dog barks, all the dogs in the village will start barking.
Meng Qianxun was capable of handling it, but he couldn’t do it silently. That was why he was preparing to use an array to seal off this section of space.
Chen Che also stepped forward. As he looked at the Marsh Dragon, he felt a thrill of excitement.
This was his first time properly seeking a fortuitous opportunity. Back on the Earth Element Star, the moment a Traveling Palace was discovered, a large number of Nascent Soul cultivators would move in, and a security cordon would be established for a thousand li around. Private excavation was considered tomb raiding and was a serious crime.
"Begin!"
With that, Meng Qianxun clapped his palms together, and a transparent Barrier formed in the space before them.
It then descended from the void and, as he spread his palms, expanded into a massive sphere that enveloped the group and the Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon.
ROAR!
The Marsh Dragon, trapped inside, was instantly alerted and let out a hiss-like roar.
Then, with a swing of its massive tail, its Demon Essence manifested as a huge Trident. With a WHOOSH, it shot toward the group, carrying an immense momentum.
"It really is old and decrepit."
Seeing the Marsh Dragon’s attack, the anxious group felt their hearts, which had been in their throats, finally settle. Although the hundreds of pairs of eyes on its back had all opened, most of them had turned a grayish-white.
Its strength was, at best, only a notch above Ye Jiuming’s.
Chen Che raised his hand and waved. The Ruyi Wind and Thunder Sword shot out with a whistle, trailing a shimmer of Starlight. It shattered the Trident in mid-air before circling toward the Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon.
SCREEECH!
A strange sound, like the clashing of metal weapons, rang out.
The Ruyi Wind and Thunder Sword scraped across its Armor, kicking up a trail of sparks, but it failed to leave so much as a white mark.
The Marsh Dragon, stung by the blow, arched its body and shot forward. Its maw, filled with sharp teeth, snapped open, its bottomless throat like an abyss.
At that moment, however, Xiao Chan was already brandishing his Soul-Calling Banner. A black cloud of Divine Souls emerged from the banner. As he waved it up and down, they converged into a black torrent that resembled a Flood Dragon Snake, coiling around and binding the Marsh Dragon’s body.
Meanwhile, Chen Yin had swiftly raised his hand. A hurricane gathered in his palm, forming numerous Wind Blades. With a wave of his bare hand, they coalesced into a jagged, formidable Wind Dragon that blasted toward the Marsh Dragon’s open mouth.
"This Marsh Dragon is at least a thousand years old. Its Scale Armor has been tempered by Demon Qi. Attack its mouth!"
Hearing this, Lu Qinglian, who had been activating a wheel-like artifact, sent a torrent of water rushing forward.
"Take this!"
Chen Che also raised a hand, summoning the Red Dragon Lock Chain to restrain the Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon as he blasted several clusters of Spirit Flame directly into its mouth. He still hadn’t fully recovered his Divine Abilities since the day he used the Nine Transformations Spirit Flame Technique to incinerate all the Divine Souls in Ye Jiuming’s banner, but forcefully activating a small amount was not a problem.
ROAR! ROAR!
The Marsh Dragon, in agony, roared and bellowed, slamming its tail heavily against the Barrier.
BOOM!
A massive explosion echoed out, and the space within the Barrier was shaken so violently it felt like the world was turning upside down.
This Marsh Dragon was a full three hundred zhang long, taller even than some mountains. A single whip of its tail could have severely injured a Foundation Establishment Great Perfection cultivator. But Meng Qianxun had long been prepared. When the blow landed, he only let out a muffled grunt, but the Barrier didn’t budge. The Marsh Dragon, however, was sent recoiling from the impact.
The distant Demon Beasts, however, were not disturbed in the slightest.
...
Even so, it took the four of them a full half-incense stick’s time to finally slay the beast. The group stopped, panting for breath, their eyes lighting up as they gazed at the still-twitching Marsh Dragon. After withstanding so many attacks, its Scale Armor was completely undamaged.
With a little refining, it could be made into a set of Tier Three Middle Grade Armor.
"Let’s ignore it for now. The Traveling Palace is full of treasures. There’s no need to get hung up on this one thing. We can divide it up slowly after we’re done."
The others had originally wanted to divide up the Marsh Dragon first, but his words reminded them of their true purpose for being here. They quickly resumed their hurried descent.
A short while later, the view ahead suddenly opened up. The group could now see a Traveling Palace that radiated a Spiritual Light. The entire palace consisted of hundreds of splendid, golden-roofed buildings, all of which were enveloped within a Grand Array that kept the surrounding swamp at bay.
Everyone was overjoyed at the sight.
But when they looked around, their expressions changed. Lying scattered about were a dozen or so corpses. Judging from their clothing, their Weapons, and the state of their bodies, every single one of them had been a Golden Core Cultivator.
