Chapter 341: Chapter 312: Fallen

The Black Arrow was blocked!

No one could have imagined this. Moments before, they had closed their eyes, resigned to death. They never expected someone else to intervene. Only another Golden Core could block a Golden Core.

"Chen Che?"

"Che’er?"

"Brother Chen..."

Looking back, they saw the figure and cried out in shock.

Chen Xi stumbled back several steps in astonishment. Chen Che had... formed his Core!?

"It’s you?!"

The furious Thousand Eyes suddenly calmed down.

He had been a Golden Core for many years, unlike someone like Ye Juming, so he could tell at a glance that Chen Che had formed his Core. This was also his greatest fear. The genius Pill Master had finally reached Core Formation, and far sooner than he had ever imagined.

"It seems I was too slow to act. The moment I returned, I should have forced you all to sign the Divine Soul Contract."

"There’s no use for regret in this world."

As if descending an invisible staircase, Chen Che stepped down from the sky, passed Meng Qianxun, Chen Xi, Meng Changtu, and Xiao Chan, and came to stand directly before Thousand Eyes, shielding them all behind him.

"Why did it have to come to this? We could have cooperated. If you hadn’t moved against us, I could have continued refining Pill Pills for you for decades..."

"Haha! Refine Pill Pills for me for decades more? If I hadn’t acted, should I have waited for my household slaves to conspire and unite all of you? By then, I would have had to face five Golden Core Cultivators!"

Thousand Eyes sneered, not believing a word of it.

"...Sigh."

Chen Che shook his head. ’I never intended to make an enemy of Thousand Eyes,’ he thought, ’but he would never believe me even if I said it.’ He then looked around in confusion.

"Why are you all here? Where is Chen Yin?"

"Thousand Eyes tricked each of us into coming here. He’s been manipulating our Chen Clan—he knew everything from the very beginning..."

Chen Xi choked back sobs.

"The old ancestor... he... he knew he wouldn’t survive, so he desperately tried to undergo his tribulation, hoping to use the Tribulation Thunder to take Thousand Eyes down with him. But in the end... he was annihilated by the Celestial Thunder, turned to ash!"

Chen Che nodded slightly. Now he understood.

There were, indeed, traces of a tribulation in the surroundings.

"Fellow Daoist Chen, why don’t you take these people and leave? Let us end matters here for today. How about it?"

He was an old monster, after all. Seeing Chen Che’s calm demeanor, Thousand Eyes was already considering a retreat. Those strange Flying Swords had pierced his body, and residual Sword Qi was still wreaking havoc inside him.

If the fight continued and he forced them to self-destruct their Golden Cores, he would suffer grievous injuries even if he won.

He would need at least several decades to recover.

"No deal!"

Before the words had even faded, Chen Che raised a hand. The Flying Swords that Thousand Eyes had knocked away immediately responded with a HUM. After his Core Formation, his Divine Sense had surged, and he could now control nearly two thousand Flying Swords at once.

And these weren’t ordinary Flying Swords—they were from a Sword Pill!

"Chen Che, I swear I will not rest until I kill you!"

Seeing the Flying Swords rise again, Thousand Eyes was both shocked and enraged. He flipped his hands over.

Behind him, the thousand arms of the Divine Statue fanned out like a peacock’s tail. With a press towards the void, a tremendous force slammed down on the Flying Swords that had just leapt into the air, forcing them into the ground with a loud CLANG.

"Grandson-in-law, be careful! That Divine Statue is a Magical Artifact!"

Meng Qianxun called out a warning.

"Hm?"

Chen Che voiced his surprise.

He hadn’t expected the Divine Statue he had been eyeing to actually be a Magical Artifact. Still, he showed no fear. Instead, his expression was calm as the spot between his eyebrows lit up. "You think this is all I have?"

The Sword Pill spun out from between his brows. With the sound of clashing weapons, leaf-like blades bloomed from its surface. This Sword Pill was formed entirely from Flying Swords. As the Sword Leaves fanned out, a torrent of Sword Qi erupted, writhing like countless dragons, its divine might overwhelming.

"Go!"

With a wave of Chen Che’s bare hand, over a thousand Flying Swords rained down like wilting petals, then scrambled over one another as they shot out, rushing toward Thousand Eyes with boundless power.

"It’s actually a Sword Pill..."

Thousand Eyes gritted his teeth and threw his head back. The shattered Face Armor on his face trembled, and amidst a pulse of Spiritual Light, it flew off on its own.

This, too, was a Spiritual Artifact.

The Face Armor released a gray mist that swirled in mid-air, expanding to a hundred zhang in the blink of an eye and hanging suspended in the sky.

"DING! DING! DING!"

It was unclear what material the Face Armor was made of. The Flying Swords struck it, sending sparks flying with the sound of metal on stone. With every impact, however, a new crack appeared on the Face Armor’s surface.

’He’s a two-thousand-year-old monster with who knows how many trump cards... I can’t drag this out!’

With that thought, Chen Che decisively threw out the Red Dragon Lock Chain. With a low cry of "Swift!", the chain erupted in brilliant firelight, transforming into a Flood Dragon wreathed in flames. Roaring, it coiled around the Face Armor and lunged toward Thousand Eyes.

"I will imprison your Divine Soul in the Divine Statue for a thousand years, ten thousand years!"

Thousand Eyes’s eyelid twitched. The Face Armor he had deployed was called the Shocking God Face Armor, a Tier Three Top Grade Magical Artifact he had obtained before becoming a Divine Dao Cultivator. It was a top-tier Defensive Magical Artifact that had saved him from countless disasters.

Today, it had first been struck by the Celestial Tribulation, and now it was covered in cracks from the Sword Pill. Forget repairing it; it was questionable whether it would even survive the day.

Still fuming, he saw the Red Dragon charging toward him and opened his mouth, spitting out several thousand Divine Souls. The Divine Souls poured out, weaving and intertwining in mid-air to form a black net that flew toward the Red Dragon Lock Chain.

However, the Red Dragon Lock Chain was forged from the Divine Soul of the Golden Core Demon Beast, the Red Flame Flood Dragon, and possessed Soul Devouring abilities. With a single charge, it tore through the net of Divine Souls, and the Red Flame Flood Dragon’s sigil within the chain grew even clearer.

’This brat was already invincible among his peers. Now that he’s reached Core Formation, his power has increased dozens of times over. He can’t be judged by common sense!’

Seeing the net torn apart, Thousand Eyes’s face turned ashen.

He took a deep breath, his chest and abdomen swelling. Opening his mouth wide, he spewed a torrent of black mist. In an instant, the entire Imperial Mausoleum plunged from day into a ghostly domain so dark you couldn’t see your hand in front of your face. The charging Red Dragon Lock Chain was the first to be swallowed by it.

This black mist was hundreds of times more terrifying than Ye Jiuming’s Ten Thousand Souls Array.

After exhaling that black miasma, Thousand Eyes’s aura weakened considerably, but he looked triumphant, taunting in a sardonic tone:

"Young punk Chen Che, I offered to end things, but you refused to stop. Are you regretting it now?"

This black mist was his Lifebound Divine Abilities, which he had personally refined. Every wisp was formed from a Soul. Over the past thousand-plus years, the number of Souls he had refined was hundreds, even thousands of times greater than what Ye Jiuming and Xiao Chan had collected.

Seeing this, Meng Qianxun and the others grew frantic and immediately began forming Seal Techniques to blast away the black mist.

But as soon as the black mist appeared, it surged like a tide. It was all-pervasive, obscuring their vision so they couldn’t see anyone else, and even their Divine Sense couldn’t penetrate it. It clung to them like maggots on a bone, corroding their True Essence and burrowing into their bodies. It was like a leech, forcefully draining their Qi and Blood.

Just as they were reeling in shock, Chen Che’s voice suddenly drifted out from the dense fog:

"Call it a day now, just so you can recover and bring reinforcements to kill me later? Thousand Eyes, you’re an old man who has been in Cultivation for years. How can you be so naive? In two thousand years, you’ve only grown older, not a single bit wiser!"

"...You!"

Thousand Eyes was enraged and was about to command the black mist to overwhelm Chen Che.

But in the darkness, Chen Che decisively pointed a finger. A Yellow Gourd flew out from between his brows. The Gourd was only palm-sized, but as it flew into the air, it erupted with Spiritual Light, shining like a brilliant star in the firmament that no amount of ghouls could obscure.

Before Thousand Eyes could react, he heard a low shout of "Collect!" The glowing Gourd trembled slightly, and a powerful suction force spiraled out, blanketing the sky full of Souls.

Like swallows returning to their nest, the black mist was directly swallowed by the Gourd. In just a few moments, more than half of the mist was gone.

"What is this Spiritual Artifact?"

Thousand Eyes was shocked and enraged. He had seen Spiritual Artifacts with special functions before, but one with such a massive capacity was rare. After his initial surprise, however, he was overjoyed. His eyes were fixed on the Gourd in mid-air, his greed undisguised.

If he could obtain these two Spiritual Artifacts, what would a hundred years of recovery matter?

"It seems your fortune is quite deep, with a Sword Pill and now this Treasure Gourd. After today, these things will all be mine!"

"We’ll see if you live through today first."

Chen Che chuckled. ’The man is at death’s door and still coveting my treasures.’

Thousand Eyes, however, refused to believe it. In his view, the techniques Chen Che had displayed so far were already far beyond that of a normal Golden Core Cultivator. Even if he were a Nascent Soul Disciple, his tricks should have run out by now.

Just as he was thinking this, he saw Chen Che point with two fingers. In an instant, flames gathered and condensed into an orange line of fire. Wherever it passed, the black mist was instantly annihilated. It shot directly toward the Shocking God Face Armor.

With a BANG, the Shocking God Face Armor was instantly melted through the middle. The attack then continued unabated, lunging toward him.

"What is this?"

Thousand Eyes was terrified. The flames burned too quickly; they seemed to incinerate everything. It was like a spark landing in a pan of oil—it ignited with a WHOOSH, instantly filling a space hundreds of zhang wide and forming a long orange dragon that reached his body.

"AHH!"

A bloodcurdling scream suddenly rang out.

Everyone immediately turned to look. They saw Thousand Eyes being consumed by the flames on the spot, his tattered Magic Robe crackling and popping. Before anyone could react, a hazy ray of light shot out from within the robe and fled into the distance.

But when they saw the light, they were all stunned.

Because beneath the Escape Light, the figure was not human. It was a monstrous hybrid, half-man and half-Hundred-Eyed Marsh Dragon. The upper body was that of a naked, middle-aged man, but the lower body was a giant centipede.

"This is Thousand Eyes’s true form?"

Chen Che’s eyes narrowed.

He was surprised, but he would never give Thousand Eyes a chance to escape.

He brandished the Ruyi Wind and Thunder Sword, pouring all of his True Essence into it. It was as if he had triggered a celestial phenomenon. Starlight flared across the sky, and in an instant, his sword illuminated the entire firmament like a daytime meteor. With the clear cry of a singing sword, it completely engulfed Thousand Eyes.

"NO—!"

Amidst a final, desperate scream,

a strange gray light appeared in mid-air, as if trying to resist the Starlight. But in the blink of an eye, it was utterly submerged, then completely annihilated, leaving not a single trace of life behind.
