Two Realms: I Will Become the Immortal Emperor
Chapter 372 - 343: A River of BloodAnother half-month went by.
Spring rain is as precious as oil. A few light showers were enough to bring patches of new life to the mountains and wilds.
However, this storm was particularly heavy. A vast, heavy mist descended, and Thunder Pythons could be seen weaving through the clouds.
The number of Tribulation Cultivator True Masters in the Market had settled at eleven, with an even greater number of Foundation Establishment Major Cultivators. The Golden Core True Masters were mostly lone wolves who kept to themselves, while the Foundation Establishment Cultivators had largely chosen to form alliances.
However, with so many of them now, none of the Tribulation Cultivators dared to make a move, worried they might just be doing the heavy lifting for someone else.
But a large number of Meng Clan Members had also arrived to provide support, just in case.
This development didn't just alert the disciples; many vassal families also grew wary. An undercurrent of paranoia swept through the Market, and cultivators began to see enemies behind every corner.
Many cultivators even began carrying Weapons when they came and went from the Market.
"Chief, is something big about to happen?"
In the Market, at a roadside tavern.
A young, barefoot cultivator in simple clothes, a fish basket hanging from his waist, held up his wine cup. He watched the passing cultivators, his eyes filled with wary confusion. Several other men dressed like him were nearby; they were all members of the Fishing Gang.
After a day of fishing and making deliveries to the local restaurants, they were using the cover of the heavy rain to relax with a few drinks.
"Who knows what the higher-ups are planning?"
Chen Jiang held up his bowl and pointed a finger toward the sky.
"The higher-ups? But you're the chief! Is there really something you don't know?"
The young cultivator was taken aback.
In their eyes, Chen Jiang was already a big shot. He was the first to know about any sign of trouble in the Market.
"There are too many things I don't know."
Chen Jiang shook his head.
Through years of hard work and with what little savings he had, he'd finally climbed to the position of chief of the Fishing Gang. To others, he was an important man who had it made. But only he knew how far he still had to go.
He was only at the Qi Refining Fifth Layer; whether he could even reach Foundation Establishment in his lifetime was anyone's guess.
"This is the real top tier, the very sky above all of Jinyun Valley. Forget about me—even our Big Leader, even those lofty clan ancestors, would consider it a blessing on their entire lineage just to meet him once."
The Fishing Gang disciples exchanged glances, unable to comprehend.
After all, their station was simply too low.
HUMMM—
Chen Jiang was growing bored. The sky had darkened, but the downpour showed no signs of letting up. He put on his bamboo hat, ready to leave, when a sudden, intense dread seized his heart.
'What's happening?'
Chen Jiang's heart shuddered. He felt as if, from somewhere beyond perception, a pair of eyes was fixed upon him.
It wasn't just him. Throughout the tavern, the Fishing Gang disciples, who had just been chatting and drinking, all fell silent in the same instant. As one, they looked up toward the sky in the direction of Jinyun Valley.
They saw a sheet of azure light unfurl like a canopy, instantly covering the entire sky above them.
The once-raucous Market seemed to freeze in that moment.
The torrential rain and roaring thunder intensified, the downpour flooding the long valley as if the very heavens were weeping blood. At the heart of Jinyun Valley, a young man in azure robes sat cross-legged with his eyes shut. His vast Divine Sense surged out from the valley like a torrential flood.
Previously, Chen Che had always released his Divine Sense quietly. Today, however, he held nothing back, unleashing it openly and causing this massive stir.
Even Qi Refining Cultivators could feel it, to say nothing of the Foundation Establishment Major Cultivators and Golden Core True Masters in the Market...
In a certain restaurant.
Meng Qianxun held a cup of hot tea, his brow tightly furrowed.
He had been relieved that, with time, no more cultivators had entered Jinyun Valley. But the ones already present were more than enough to annihilate a Golden Core Influence.
'The Mountain Protection Array shouldn't have been activated. Or at least, not this early... It was a show of weakness, and it's only made those Golden Cores bolder. Eleven of them... even if he could kill them one by one, it would take forever.'
'Besides, if he angers them and forces them to join forces, Jinyun Valley could be wiped out overnight.'
Meng Qianxun's head throbbed. He had repeatedly asked Chen Che how he planned to break the stalemate, but his answer was always the same: kill them.
But *how* to just kill them—that was the enormous question.
And just as he was thinking…
He suddenly frowned and looked up at the sky. The other Meng Clan Members in the restaurant, who were there to pass messages, also looked up in surprise. Some, in disbelief, shoved open the windows overlooking the street. They saw only a vast azure light spreading out to envelop all of Jinyun Valley.
"This Divine Sense... what is Che'er planning to do?"
Meng Qianxun shot to his feet.
Beneath the downpour, many of the Tribulation Cultivators who felt the Divine Sense looked around in confusion:
"What's going on?"
"This Divine Sense is impressive!"
"So what if it's strong? Looks like Jinyun Valley is all for show. All bark and no bite."
The rain hadn't stopped; in fact, it was now falling even harder.
In an instant, inside and outside Jinyun Valley, every gaze was fixed on the vast, net-like expanse of Divine Sense in the sky. The world fell into an eerie silence, leaving only the drumming of the rain.
But in the next moment, everyone's questions were answered. They understood why Valley Master Chen had made such a display.
CRACK—
A tremendous sound ripped through the air.
It was not thunder, but the ring of a sword.
With a deafening roar, everyone watched as countless three-inch beams of sword-light shot up from Jinyun Valley. They chased each other through the air like fireflies before finally converging into a single Sword Rainbow that stretched for hundreds of zhang across the sky.
As the Sword Rainbow formed, its Sword Qi surged skyward, so powerful that it parted the curtain of rain, revealing the bright moon and brilliant stars from behind the thunderclouds.
Everyone who witnessed this turned pale with shock.
"Father, what do you think this Valley Master Chen is doing?"
Inside a guest inn, Zheng Wending stared at the azure glow in the sky. He couldn't help but turn to look at his father, but a sudden whistle of something tearing through the air made him whip his head back up in alarm. What he saw next was horrifying.
Under the bright moonlight, the Sword Rainbow tore through the sky, heading straight for them. It moved faster than they could react, arriving in front of them in the blink of an eye.
"Father—"
Zheng Wending cried out in terror.
However, in the instant he was engulfed by Sword Qi, all he could see was the Sword Rainbow striking with unstoppable force. It instantly shredded his father's Protective True Essence. His father's Life-taking Throat-locking Spear, a weapon that had claimed countless lives, shattered inch by inch the moment it met the Sword Rainbow.
BOOM—
Amidst the cataclysmic roar, a shockwave of mist and dust erupted. The Sword Rainbow tore through it and reappeared in everyone's vision, like a ferocious dragon bursting into view.
Most people had no idea what had just happened. Only a few Golden Core cultivators realized that in that single instant, the aura of a Golden Core True Master had been utterly extinguished.
'First one!'
Chen Che had no intention of stopping. He remained seated and unmoving, merely lifting his sword-fingers. The Sword Rainbow, with an air of absolute supremacy, weaved and coiled through the air, bypassing the streets to rocket toward the next Golden Core cultivator.
This was the first time since getting the Sword Pill that Chen Che had completely displayed its power in front of everyone, without holding back in the slightest.
Although, even now, he was still unable to fully control the Sword Pill, having mastered only about twenty percent of its power.
SSSHHHHHRRRIP—
The blade flashed past, leaving a trail of afterimages.
Before the horrified eyes of countless onlookers, the sword-light flashed past one victim and instantly sped toward the next.
...
'What on earth is this kid doing?'
On top of a small hill, a Golden Core True Master with a Sword Box on his back stood with his hands behind him, looking at Jinyun Valley.
He too had been mystified by the sudden blanket of Divine Sense.
'When something is this abnormal, there's always a catch…'
'But as a Golden Core cultivator, he wouldn't make such a move without a reason. Is he planning to kill one or two of us to make an example for the rest?'
This Golden Core True Master was named Duan Ahjing, a Golden Core Ancestor from Golden Turtle Island.
But no one knew that he was actually a Fake Infant True Master who had been reborn through possession.
Having lived two lives, he was extremely cautious by nature and would never act unless he had no other choice. The bounty on Chen Che wasn't even that high; in the Slaughter Tower, some bounties went as high as two million.
But for a True Master who had only recently achieved Core Formation, the price was fitting. He had only come to see if an opportunity presented itself. If he could collect the bounty, it would be a nice little windfall.
'Sword Pill?'
However, when he saw that Sword Rainbow from Jinyun Valley streak past the restaurant and annihilate Zheng Xiguan, only to arrive in front of him an instant later, his eyes nearly bulged out of his head.
Like a startled rabbit, he shot backward violently. At the same time, he formed a Sword Pointing gesture. With a BANG, the Sword Box on his back flew open, and tens of thousands of Flying Swords soared into the sky. For a moment, their brilliant light and sheer power seemed to overwhelm the Sword Pill's tenfold!
For that one instant, they even drowned out the moonlight.
But how could those motley Flying Swords from the Sword Box compare to the Sword Pill's Primordial Unity? In a single instant, the Sword Pill broke through their formation.
BANG—
Flesh and blood flew everywhere as fresh blood splattered.
The shock in Duan Ahjing's eyes had yet to turn to terror when his body was torn to shreds by the sword-light. The Sword Momentum swept over the hilltop, splitting the entire mountain in two.
Then, its momentum undiminished, the sword-light lunged toward the next Golden Core cultivator.
"Amitabha Buddha—"
A True Master in the robes of the Buddhist Sect clasped his hands together. His True Essence erupted in an instant. With a HUM, a surge of Spiritual Light filled the air as Sanskrit chants echoed between heaven and earth. Then, everyone watched as the imposing figure of a wrathful Buddha manifested.
When it manifested, its colossal form seemed large enough to prop up the very heavens.
"It's Layman Wei Wu of Prajna Temple! That's the Prajna Golden Body! He can definitely withstand it—"
BANG—
The words were barely out of his mouth when the Buddha shattered into motes of golden light.
All of Jinyun Valley fell into a deathly silence. A moment later, hundreds of figures shot into the sky without a shred of hesitation, fleeing for their lives.
"This is bad!"
"He's planning to kill us all..."
"Run!"
