Chapter 424: Chapter 393: Blood Sword Pill

Dan Kongzi was powerful.

His most notable possession was the Sword Box he carried on his back. It had once held more than thirty-six thousand Spirit Swords, but after a great battle, they had all plunged into the Black Tortoise Calm Sea, carried away by the currents.

In the time since, the Cultivators on the surrounding reefs had found less than thirty percent of them.

’With this Sword Box, I might even be able to train another Sword Cultivator.’

Chen Che caressed the Sword Box. If he hadn’t obtained the Sword Pill, he would have fought tooth and nail to seize this box.

"Recall."

He performed the Seal Technique.

HUMMM~

The shattered Sword Box shuddered softly, releasing a watery ripple of energy.

WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!

From hundreds, even thousands of miles away, countless streaks of rainbow light shot up from the surface of the sea. Then, under the astonished gazes of numerous Cultivators, they flew toward the Spiritual Boat like weary birds returning to their nests.

And then, they disappeared back into the Sword Box.

Everyone in the cabin watched this dazzling scene unfold.

"What a shame. That Sword Box still needs to be repaired, and no one less than a proper Third-rank Casting Master could possibly handle the job."

No one could take their eyes off the Sword Box. Even though it had been shattered by the Sword Pill, it was still an incredibly rare Magical Artifact. If a Sword Cultivator were to get their hands on it, their power would instantly increase severalfold.

Of course, the Sword Box wasn’t the only prize. The Sea Snail, the Soaring Dragon Spear, the Clay Tea Pot, and those Puppets were all priceless treasures... Properly mastered, they could be used to form a powerful team of Golden Core Cultivators.

’As for Duobao... I’ll be sure to repay this ’generous gift’ of his a hundred, even a thousand times over.’

Seeing the look on Chen Che’s face, Meng Qianxun’s scalp tingled with apprehension.

’Could it be...?’

’Is this grandson-in-law of mine planning to lay siege to the Primordial Sect?’

...

「Primordial City, West City.」

A sprawling, nine-courtyard manor served as Duobao’s residence within Primordial City. However, no one knew that the earth thousands of feet beneath the estate had been completely hollowed out, concealing a massive underground cavern.

Inside the cavern, nine Golden Core Cultivators, stripped to the waist, held Heavy Hammers. They were shackled at the ankles. The other end of their chains connected to a Grand Array, and the links were covered in countless Talismans, clearly showing they were imprisoned here.

Before them was a pool of surging magma.

The rim of the pool rose like the cone of a volcano.

Vaguely visible within the roiling magma were countless Flying Swords, darting about uncontrollably like a school of metallic fish.

"Why, after all this time, can’t you gather the Flying Swords and form them into a Sword Pill?"

"Fools! A bunch of fools... It’s been seven whole years since these Flying Swords were forged!"

Duobao roared incessantly from within the cavern, the whip in his hand lashing out periodically. Each strike left a deep, bloody welt on the men’s bodies.

The Golden Core Casting Masters remained silent, their heads raised to look at a Memory Bead floating before them.

The bead continuously played a wondrous scene:

It was the scene of Chen Che’s Sword Pill shattering the Sword Box, then dissipating into a vast Sword Rainbow that surged toward Dan Kongzi. Ever since Duobao had acquired this Memory Bead, he had been down here, demanding to know when they could finally condense a Sword Pill.

"Worthless!"

Slamming his whip to the ground, Duobao clasped his hands behind his back. He glanced at the still-unformed Sword Pill, his gaze then flickering to the Memory Bead, and he couldn’t help but let out a long sigh.

"A Sword Pill..."

Ever since his Core Formation, he had been desperately trying to get his hands on a Sword Pill. While forging Magical Artifacts for the Sect Leader, he had, on the sly, captured nine Casting Masters to create one for himself.

Over the years, he had sunk more than ninety percent of his personal fortune into this endeavor.

Originally, he had planned to wait patiently, but after seeing the scene in the Memory Bead, he couldn’t bear it any longer.

Seeing the Casting Masters remain silent, he raised his gaze.

"Do any of you know who forged this Sword Pill?"

The men looked up and exchanged glances, instantly understanding Duobao’s intention. He likely wanted to capture this Forging Master as well. But seeing Duobao’s expression grow even darker, one of them forced himself to speak.

"We don’t know..."

"In the last few centuries, we haven’t heard of anyone successfully forging a Sword Pill. The technique used for this one is so unique, so exceptional, that it’s far beyond our own skills. It doesn’t look like the work of a Third-rank Forging Master. I heard from my own master that thousands of years ago, the Profound Sword Manor was the only one to succeed, gathering the strength of their entire clan to forge a single Sword Pill..."

"Profound Sword Manor?"

Duobao snapped his head around, his expression darkening, causing the Golden Core Cultivator to tremble involuntarily.

’I’ve heard that story too,’ Duobao mused. ’How did that Sword Pill end up in that brat’s hands?’

A muscle in Duobao’s jaw twitched; he could barely contain the rage and jealousy boiling inside him.

’So it was that one. He had searched for it for so many years! He had always wondered if someone else had gotten to it first, or if it was lost in some forgotten, lightless corner of the world. When the search proved fruitless, he had given up and decided to forge his own.’

’And now, it had appeared...’

"What tier is that Sword Pill?"

"Tier Three High Grade at a minimum... Once a Sword Pill is successfully forged, that is its starting grade. We haven’t witnessed it firsthand, so we cannot determine its exact level. However, from what we can tell, this particular Sword Pill seems to be missing its core."

The Pill Master who had spoken before continued, forcing the words out. He was the one in charge, coordinating the other Casting Masters in forging this Sword Pill.

The Profound Sword Manor was a Nascent Soul Clan, after all.

A Sword Pill forged with the power of their entire clan couldn’t possibly be of a low grade.

Seeing Duobao’s expression become increasingly grim, the man’s throat went dry as he added hastily,

"I’ve scoured the ancient texts. They record that if a Sword Pill fails to coalesce, it’s most likely due to insufficient materials. It’s just like a cultivator trying to advance their Realm—if their Cultivation isn’t deep enough, they get stuck at a bottleneck..."

"And you’re saying?"

Duobao frowned, lost in thought. A moment later, he rose and with a wave of his hand, another Sword Box appeared before him. This one was even more exquisite and luxurious than Dan Kongzi’s. After only a brief moment of hesitation, he tossed the Sword Box into the pool.

BOOM—

The pool was connected to the Earth Fire below and enhanced by a Profound Fire Array.

The instant the Sword Box landed, the magma pool trembled violently.

Seeing this, the nine Casting Masters dared not delay. They immediately sat cross-legged and began forming a continuous stream of Seal Techniques. Duobao stood with his hands clasped behind him, overlooking the magma pool. As he’d hoped, he saw the Flying Swords begin to converge on the Sword Box like a hundred rivers flowing to the sea.

’It’s working?’

Duobao’s eyes lit up. He proceeded to toss Magical Treasures from his collection into the magma pool, one after another. However, once the last Magical Artifact was thrown in, the movement of the Flying Swords ceased, always falling short of that final step.

’Still not enough. What’s the problem?’

Duobao’s face grew darker. A cold rage filled his heart, and his gaze fell upon the Golden Core Cultivator who had spoken earlier.

Suddenly,

an idea struck him.

"No..."

Seeing the look in Duobao’s eyes, the Golden Core Cultivator instantly understood and began struggling to escape.

But Duobao was faster. His hand shot out and clamped around the man’s throat. Before his victim could even struggle, Duobao violently slammed him down into the magma pool. Flesh melted and blood splashed.

At that same moment, the stagnant Flying Swords began to converge once more.

Seeing this, a look of wild ecstasy spread across Duobao’s face.

Meanwhile, the remaining Golden Core Casting Masters in the cavern, their faces etched with horror, scrambled over one another in a desperate attempt to flee.

A moment later—

Only Duobao remained in the cavern. The nine Golden Core Casting Masters had vanished, leaving only empty shackles behind. In their place, a solid crimson Sword Pill had appeared, rising from the flaming magma. It rotated slowly in mid-air, emitting a demonic red glow.

"Hahaha—"

His laughter shook the cavern, causing dust and boulders to fall as the flames churned below. Reaching out to grasp the Sword Pill suspended in mid-air, Duobao’s eyes gleamed with a predatory light.

"One hundred and sixty-seven years... I’ve finally forged a Sword Pill!"
