Undressed By The Mafia God

Chapter 513: Deal’s Off Then

"If you have hurt her in any way..." Luca began.

"Oh, I haven’t." David smiled. "I waited patiently so you could watch. So I could see the humiliating pain on your face."

Luca’s jaw tightened. For five days, he had imagined a thousand ways David could die. None of them had been enough. Not one. The human imagination, he was discovering, had limits. "The agreement was that you would let her go once you had me."

"And I will," David replied. "But not before watching you suffer and she watches you die."

Luca gave a small nod. "Deal’s off then, Vitale. She has to walk."

"You have no chip here, Luca. Don’t pretend you do."

Luca looked down briefly at the cuffs, then back up at him. "You would be surprised what I can do with nothing."

David’s smile faltered. Even chained, exhausted, and half-mad with fear for Veronica, Luca could still make men remember he was by himself scary. "You killed my sister...You gave her a horrifying death. I will not make it easy for you. I do not plan to."

"Bianca earned her ending." Luca’s voice dropped lower. "And so will you."

David leaned in. "You will keep your mouth shut," he whispered, "and watch me fuck your wife—"

Before the words were even fully out of his mouth, Luca drove his forehead into David’s nose with a sickening crack. Blood burst instantly, splattering across David’s mouth, his shirt, and the dusty ground between them.

David staggered back then he laughed hysterically. "This is going to be the most delicious thing I have ever done in my entire life." He shoved Luca forward and into his car parked a few feet away heading to their final destination.

Marco entered Bastione territory with nothing to defend himself. No gun. No backup close enough to save him if the pirates decided dumping him into the nearest body of water with his throat open. Which, knowing the Bastiones, was not entirely outside the range of acceptable manners.

They were pirates, after all.

Despite the war brewing between them, despite the fact that Renato Bastione—the heir himself—was currently being held by Luca in New York, Marco had no choice but to walk into their territory and ask for a deal.

A brilliant plan, really. If he survived it.

Bianca’s financial records had led him here. At first glance, the transaction trail had looked useless. Tiny transfers, layered purchases, all broken apart that most men would have skimmed over them. But Marco had learned the hard way that quiet money often screamed the loudest.

He would never again dismiss any transaction as meaningless. Not after the coffee shop. If he had not dismissed Bianca’s repeated trips to that café in New York, if he had looked harder, questioned why a woman like Bianca Vitale kept wasting time in a place that sold mediocre coffee and had no business being part of her routine, they might have found Tony sooner. They might have seen the shape of the trap before it closed around Veronica.

Maybe none of this would have happened. Maybe Luca would not be walking blind into David’s hands.

Maybe Veronica would not be God knew where, and being used as bait by a man who deserved a death so ugly even hell would ask for distance.

So he had followed the money. Every transaction Bianca had tried to bury. Eventually, the pieces added up.

A property that sat deep inside Bastione territory. Marco believed that was where David would be holed up.

Then the message came in: the tail on Luca had failed. They had lost him in the city. Marco had simply stared at the update, his stomach dropping. Luca was alone. Veronica was still missing. Massimo was holding the Vitale side by the throat, oh and Graziella Vitale was missing, suspicion naturally was on the Genovese famiglia.

So this was a last resort. A meeting with the enemy on his turf. Soon after Marco was searched clean of weapons, and any illusion of personal safety, he was allowed in to see Don Bastione himself.

The office was exactly what Marco expected from a man who ran his empire like a pirate kingdom. Dark wood. Heavy curtains. A view of the water beyond the windows.

Don Bastione sat behind his desk as if he did not have a son in captivity. There were women in his office, draped across chairs and near the bar. Wine sat open on the table. A cigar dangled from his fingers. If Renato’s absence troubled him, it did not show. Either the man had remarkable self-control, or fatherhood in the Bastione family came with disturbingly flexible terms and conditions.

Marco stepped forward.

"Marco Montgomery," Don Bastione said, smiling slowly. "The legendary bulldog."

Marco held his gaze. "Been a while, Don Bastione."

"Yes..." The older man leaned back, eyes moving over him with lazy interest. "I didn’t think it would take this long. I always had the dream to turn you. A man like you does not belong on a leash forever. But your boss would never let you out of his sight, would he?"

Marco kept his face calm. Inside, every second mattered. "I come here on urgent business."

"So I am told." Don Bastione lifted two fingers in a careless wave. The women rose at once and walked out. Don Bastione set his cigar down. "What can I do for you?"

Marco took one step closer to the desk. "I need to see a list of properties you own and in exchange, Luca promised to let Renato go as soon as you hand them over to me."

Don Bastione smiled. "I sent my men to New York to meet with Luca...We already have a deal. I tell him the Vitale plans to join us in attacking the Genovese, and he lets my son go."

"The deal has changed."

A soft laugh left Bastione’s mouth. "You Genovese..." He shook his head slowly. "You just assume the world owes you something, don’t you?"

(Its time to vote people! The character with the highest fan value takes David Vitale down: who will it be? Luca? Marco? Veronica? lets go vote!)
