"Well, I gave her access to the library. She’s the head of magical research, and her abilities are marvelous. Is there a specific spell book you’re looking for?"

"Yes, memory alteration"

"Memory alteration spells- is that the solution to her problem?"

"Maybe. I don’t know how, but we have to relieve the burden by removing some of her memories. I have no idea how the spell would work, or how we’ll remove the memories, but that is the best way; wiping her entire memory isn’t really an option," Aiden said.

Katarina placed a hand on her chin as she thought about it. Even after she became head of the academy, she hadn’t really been interested in forbidden magic. Why would she, the strongest mage in the entire nation, need forbidden magic? So she hadn’t gone through the books.

"Then we should meet with Dina; she would have the answers you’re looking for then we’ll know the next steps to take" Kat replied and Aiden nodded.

Both of them walked back to the room, and as Kat walked in, her eyes went towards the king, and she nodded, to which the king nodded back.

Aiden, on the other hand had his eyes fixed on the Queen. No matter how hard he tried the still couldn’t ignore her beauty. Too bad he didn’t reincarnate in the elven nation; he would have gone after her using any and every opportunity available, but he couldn’t think about that now. He was trying to save her life after all.

"I’m sure you need rest after your long journey. My knight will show you to your room; we’ll do everything in our power to help the Queen, I assure you," The king said.

The warrior and the female elf bowed their heads as the knight walked towards them.

Aiden and Kat also bowed their heads towards the king before stepping out of the room and continuing towards the palace doors.

"We were supposed to meet tomorrow. I wasn’t expecting to have even more work today. I was sleeping when the king summoned me," Katarina said.

"I haven’t eaten a real meal today," Aiden replied as they stepped outside the palace.

"Really, and if I know anything about Dina, we’re probably going to have to spend the night with her talking about solutions, and whether or not the spell is possible, and if there isn’t a spell like that, she’ll try to invent one," Kat said.

"Invent a spell like that?" Aiden asked, raising his brow slightly.

"Magical research is all Dina can talk about. If a memory alteration spell isn’t in the library, then it would have something close, from which Dina can reverse engineer the spell and work something out. She had created tons of spells, just that most of them are completely useless and mostly support spells"

"I can see why you think we’ll stay all night," Aiden sighed.

Katarina laughed, "I know it sounds terrible, but you’ll get used to it if you stay around her; magical research isn’t exactly a job with normal hours"

"You’re the head of the academy, right? Can’t you hurry her up?" Aiden spoke as Katarina led both of them to a carriage.

"I could." Katarina paused for a moment before shaking her head. "But I won’t; if something goes wrong, then she’ll spend the rest of her life telling me it was my fault for rushing her and interrupting her research"

"Guess we have no choice"

Aiden looked up towards the sky; the sun was currently nowhere in the sky as it had been replaced by the full moon. The night sky was as beautiful as always, with millions of stars present; if Aiden had to guess the time, it would be 7ish.

Aiden looked around the palace one more time as they arrived at the carriage, which already had a rider present and waiting. Around the carriage were tiny crystals that gave off light, the same as in almost every room, surrounding and lighting up the palace like it was still morning.

The door to the carriage was pulled open with Katarina going in first and followed by Aiden, but as soon as he sat down, his stomach made a grumbling sound.

Katarina slowly turned towards Aiden; her face looked like she was about to burst into laughter at any moment. "Was that your stomach?"

"No," Aiden replied, his face stoic.

"It definitely was"

"I said it wasn’t"

Katarina covered her mouth as she laughed. "I’m sorry, Your Holiness, but you’re terrible at lying"

Aiden sighed. "Fine, I’m hungry, and the thought of spending hours in a library isn’t exactly pleasing, but I don’t have a choice"

"I can get you something to eat before you meet her. It’s not like she has anywhere to be; the academy has a nice dining hall for students, but at this time most students would be asleep"

"That would be nice," Aiden replied.

"If we’re going to spend the entire night with Dina, you should definitely get something to eat before then, and also...no need to worry, I’m sure it won’t come up," Kat said.

Aiden noticed she wanted to say something but didn’t; still, he didn’t ask her about it. He simply took a deep breath and relaxed as the carriage began moving.

He leaned against the side of the carriage and looked through the window. Soon they were out of the palace and rode into the city. The streets of the capital were much quieter than they had been during the day; almost everyone was inside their house, and only a few people could be seen walking.

The same light crystals littered the streets of the capital; each house had at least two around it, even the empty shops, giving each of them a unique glow.

Some buildings had light shining through their windows while others were completely dark. Aiden couldn’t help as a smile formed on his face. This reminded him of the scene back on Earth.
