Time flowed like water, and a few more days passed. One man and two beasts had successfully entered the central region of the Western lands; there wasn’t much distance left to the entrance connection of the Dark Prison.
Instead, Lin Zifeng was starting to get a little nervous. The closer they got to the Dark Prison’s entrance connection, the more he actually felt a kind of urge to stop moving forward. All along the way, the thing he’d heard the most was that the Dark Prison was a deadly place; if it reappeared in the world, it was bound to be extremely dangerous.
Thinking of that danger, what Lin Zifeng feared most was that Handsome Guy would get dragged down with him. If something happened, then his family, Nangong Bing, and his friends would really be saying goodbye forever.
"Kid, what are you thinking about?"
At this moment, Handsome Guy tilted his head and glanced at Lin Zifeng. It was now Lin Zifeng’s mount; along the way it was the one carrying Lin Zifeng as it ran. Riding on a huge white mastiff—don’t even mention how badass that looked.
"Not thinking about anything, just wondering how we’re supposed to get in."
Staring at the tall mountains in front of him, they weren’t even close to the Dark Prison’s entrance connection yet, and he could already sense faint human figures all around. It seemed people were already stationed here to guard the place.
If they rushed in, they’d only end up alerting that bunch of guys. That wouldn’t be good at all; who knew what kind of huge trouble might break out. Thinking of this, Lin Zifeng decided they shouldn’t advance for the time being. Even if they did go forward, they’d have to wait until it was dark before going in—that would be more reliable.
This time, with the Dark Prison’s entrance connection erupting, the strong experts coming from the Western side were probably more numerous than in the East, and also a lot stronger than the Eastern Cultivators.
To avoid trouble, Lin Zifeng signaled Handsome Guy to stop.
"We’d better not keep going."
"How come?"
Handsome Guy was really puzzled. They’d come all this way, and now he was being told not to go forward—it felt a bit hard to accept.
"No reason. If you want to stay alive, just hang around here for a while. If we get a chance, we’ll wait till it’s dark and then go explore."
Lin Zifeng said faintly, not giving it many explanations.
"Then what are we doing now?"
"Heh heh, I’ll take you to mooch some food." Lin Zifeng gave a mysterious grin.
As soon as food was mentioned, the little guy curled up in Lin Zifeng’s arms instantly perked up, wildly excited. It clapped its hands hard, squinting its eyes and chanting for food.
After resting for a few hours in the forested slope, Lin Zifeng got up, taking Handsome Guy and Luobo along as he headed toward the right side of the woods.
"Kid, where are you taking us?" Handsome Guy was very confused. A few hours ago, Lin Zifeng had promised to take it to eat something delicious—damn it, they hadn’t eaten anything, just wasted several hours.
"Relax, I’ll definitely get you guys some good stuff to eat." Lin Zifeng smiled faintly.
They kept walking forward, and soon a group of young men and women appeared before them, busy pitching tents. They were all Westerners.
Blond hair, blue eyes, handsome faces; when they worked they were full of vigor. Especially a few pretty young ladies in the group were bustling around busily.
Seeing this, Handsome Guy was very curious.
Watching a bunch of Westerners pitch tents? That didn’t look like it had anything delicious involved, did it? Could it be that that brat Lin was just playing him?
"I know what you’re thinking, don’t rush. Once they finish setting up the tents, there’ll naturally be food." Lin Zifeng grinned.
On the way here, he’d already noticed this Western group camped nearby.
They’d been lingering here for a while, and as he watched, the sky was getting darker and darker. They were sure to pitch tents here, and once the tents were up, they’d definitely start dealing with dinner.
Perfect chance for them to join the fun, and that solved the stomach problem.
"Krusli, are your tents set up yet?"
In the crowd, a slender blond beauty called out softly. Her voice was gentle and pleasant, her posture coy and charming, and her figure—especially those measurements—was seriously eye-catching.
Among the four girls, she was the prettiest.
Just like a little Princess out of a Western fairy tale, she was incredibly delicate.
"Avril, don’t worry, we’ll be done in a moment. Didn’t we already divide the work? You girls are in charge of making a fire and cooking, we’re in charge of setting up the tents. Look, our tents are almost done. Why haven’t you started on tonight’s roast meat yet?"
Everyone laughed and joked.
"Hehe, relax. Roasting meat is easy—once there’s a fire we can roast. You guys are the ones who need to hurry up." The beauty named Avril smiled slightly.
She piled all the dry branches they’d collected from the forest together. Then, they saw Avril cross her hands, squint her eyes, and silently recite a string of complicated, hard-to-understand Spells.
Suddenly!
Her eyes snapped open, and she thrust both hands toward the pile of dry branches.
"Wong!"
A great blaze suddenly roared up from the heap of kindling.
"What the hell! A Magician!" Handsome Guy’s ears shot upright in shock.
"Magician? The hell is that?" Lin Zifeng frowned.
"To put it simply, they’re very similar to our Eastern Daoist Cultivators. Uh, even simpler—basically just a bunch of Ability Users. In the Western lands there’s an ancient racial culture; supposedly there used to be a group of ancient Magicians in the old Western era. Looks like this bunch should be descendants of that ancient Magician lineage, right?"
Lin Zifeng nodded.
In the Western lands, Magicians were a very ancient inheritance. Not exactly common, but that didn’t mean this line didn’t exist.
Calling them Magicians sounds nice, but in reality they’re about the same as those Ability Users in the Ability Group.
"See? I said I’d get the flames going in no time. The roast meat’ll be ready soon. You guys better not let your tents fall behind ours."
Avril said with a giggling smile.
Then she seriously tended the bonfire, holding up the dozens of wild rabbits they’d hunted today over the fire to roast, with lots of wild fruits scattered off to the side.
Seeing those rabbits sizzle on the spit, not only was Handsome Guy drooling, but the little guy on Lin Zifeng’s shoulder had both eyes shining.
He had no idea what seasoning they were using, but even from far away, Lin Zifeng could smell it.
The aroma was amazing; he almost wanted to rush over, grab a few rabbits, and stuff himself.
"Alright, let’s go." Lin Zifeng flicked away a cigarette butt, chuckled, and walked forward.
"Damn! It’s that easy to score some meat?" Handsome Guy stared dog-eyed at Lin Zifeng in disbelief. Being this direct—would they really give them anything to eat?
They might take them for enemies instead, who knows.
"Hello."
Lin Zifeng strode over and greeted the busy crowd.
"Who are you!"
At Lin Zifeng’s appearance, everyone immediately grew wary.
Among these Magicians, nearly all of them were wearing magic robes of different colors, each color representing a different Realm—especially red, which stood for a status of supreme authority.
Within the group, aside from an older man wearing a red magic robe, the others were all wearing variously colored robes, and the beauty named Avril wore a light blue one.
Although the loose robe covered her enchanting, graceful figure, Lin Zifeng could still see clearly that this chick’s body was fantastic. Under his pair of X-ray eyes, nothing could hide...
