Urban Genius Divine Doctor

Chapter 255: Don’t Humiliate Yourself

Pu Zhengyang's words caught Wang Chenning a bit off guard.

He recovered quickly, however, and replied evenly, "Huaxia has many renowned doctors, so I certainly can't claim to represent the pinnacle of our traditional medicine. But I am confident that my medical skills are superior to those of any doctor in South Korea.

I know you're not convinced, especially given my age. That's why today, I want to represent Huaxia and issue a challenge to your entire traditional medical community in South Korea. Of course, if you're afraid of losing and disgracing your country, I can accept that. We can just compete as individuals!

But I know someone will be willing to represent South Korea in a match against me. I hope you'll accept their role as a representative when the time comes!"

Wang Chenning's reply was an iron fist in a velvet glove, laced with a mocking tone.

Pu Zhiyun, who was standing beside Pu Zhengyang, could no longer contain himself. He stepped forward and rebuked Wang Chenning, "Mr. Wang, how dare you speak to my grandfather with such a tone?"

Wang Chenning just smiled. "I'm merely speaking the truth!"

He then turned to Pu Zhengyang. "Elder Pu, I completely understand your position. After all, losing to someone as young as me would be embarrassing, and winning wouldn't bring you any honor either."

"Young man, are you trying to provoke me?" Pu Zhengyang was, after all, a grandmaster of medicine and didn't rise to the bait of Wang Chenning's impertinent words.

"No!" Wang Chenning shook his head. "My true intention is to work with my peers in your country's traditional medical community to improve public acceptance of our field and benefit more people. You may already know this, but it's not just South Korea and Japan—even in our own Huaxia, the development of traditional medicine has become stagnant. This is a terrible state of affairs. Someone needs to break the ice, and I intend to be the one to lead the way!"

"You're quite the arrogant young man!" A look of contempt flashed in Pu Zhengyang's eyes. "Do you really think you're capable of such a role?"

"Of course I am!" Wang Chenning nodded. "That's why I dare to challenge the entire traditional medical community of South Korea. I'm confident that in all of South Korea, you won't find a single person more skilled than me, whether in diagnosis or acupuncture."

"Grandfather, let me face him first!" Pu Zhiyun was afraid his grandfather would fall for Wang Chenning's provocation and impulsively accept the challenge.

Doing so would be far too damaging to the old master's reputation.

"You are not his match!" Pu Zhengyang shook his head, rejecting his grandson's request. "Don't ask to be humiliated."

Wang Chenning said with a smile, "I'm willing to compete against Mr. Xiao Pu. We discussed this yesterday. I'm willing to stake my copy of the *Thousand Gold Formulae with Annotations* on it, and I'm sure you all know the value of that text."

"Grandfather, just let me test him!" Pu Zhiyun grew even angrier and pleaded with Pu Zhengyang again. "I will defeat him for sure."

"You are not his match!" But Pu Zhengyang refused. He ignored his grandson's plea, his eyes glinting as he stared at Wang Chenning. "I suspect your visit today is about more than just a simple challenge, Mr. Wang. Otherwise, people would just write you off as a madman!"

"I imagine our officials contacted you yesterday to arrange for one of our representatives to speak at your seminar today." Wang Chenning would never underestimate Pu Zhengyang. 'A man his age is bound to be a sly old fox.' But he maintained a carefree demeanor as he replied, "In a little while, I'll present my latest research to all of you, so you can see the progress of traditional medicine in Huaxia. Afterward, I will formally issue my challenge to your traditional medical community."

"In that case, let's see these latest research findings of yours first!" Of course, Pu Zhengyang wasn't taking Wang Chenning lightly. After Wang Chenning had issued his challenge to the entire traditional medical community of South Korea during his victory speech the day before, Pu Zhengyang had immediately sent people to dig up all the information they could find on him.

All they could find was information about Wang Chenning's activities after arriving in Yandu. They found almost nothing of use about his previous life in Chang'an.

Nevertheless, Pu Zhengyang believed he was a young genius whose medical skills were exquisite, far surpassing most practitioners of traditional medicine.

Although he couldn't figure out how Wang Chenning had acquired such miraculous medical skills at such a young age, Pu Zhengyang had to admit that no one in his generation could compare.

That was why he had refused when Pu Zhiyun volunteered for a match.

He understood his grandson's thinking. Pu Zhiyun wanted to be the first to fight Wang Chenning, probing his true abilities even if it came at a cost.

While Pu Zhiyun's medical skills were decent, Pu Zhengyang didn't believe he was strong enough to truly test Wang Chenning's capabilities.

Pu Zhengyang was certainly willing to face Wang Chenning, but he had many reservations.

If he were to publicly declare that he was representing the entire traditional medical community of South Korea in a competition against Wang Chenning, many would surely object, arguing that he didn't represent the pinnacle of their field.

There were plenty of people in the South Korean traditional medical community who didn't acknowledge his authority.

Furthermore, he was unwilling to enter a competition he wasn't certain of winning, especially without knowing the true depths of Wang Chenning's abilities.

He also wanted Wang Chenning to incite public outrage, to be swarmed and attacked by the entire South Korean traditional medical community.

When that happened, someone would inevitably step up to accept Wang Chenning's challenge.

Then, he could witness Wang Chenning's skills firsthand.

If others were defeated and he was the one to finally step forward and beat Wang Chenning, he would solidify his position as the undisputed number one in South Korea's traditional medical field.

Therefore, even though he had sent Pu Zhiyun to issue a challenge the day before, he was in no hurry to compete with Wang Chenning himself.

In any case, he was certain he would end up competing against Wang Chenning, perhaps in one match, perhaps in several.

While Wang Chenning didn't grasp the full extent of Pu Zhengyang's scheme, he was more than willing to engage with more people from the South Korean medical community, even if it meant inciting their collective fury.

He had absolute confidence he could win any match. Having inherited centuries of accumulated knowledge and skill from that great master, he simply didn't believe anyone who had only lived for a few decades could possibly compare to him.

Seeing that Wang Chenning was playing right into his hands, Pu Zhengyang immediately instructed Pu Zhiyun to notify the organizing committee and arrange a lecture for him.

After sending Pu Zhiyun off to make the preparations, Pu Zhengyang turned back to Wang Chenning. "Mr. Wang, for your lecture, you must deliver it in Korean!"

"No!" Wang Chenning immediately shook his head. "All the ancient texts of traditional medicine are written using Chinese characters. You won't find a single book from over a hundred years ago that wasn't written that way. If you want to study traditional medicine, you must first learn Chinese. There are many concepts that can be expressed clearly in Chinese but are inarticulable in Korean. Therefore, I can only give my lecture in Chinese!"

In fact, Wang Chenning's entire conversation with Pu Zhengyang and his grandson had been in Chinese.

He had no desire to use Korean when speaking to others, and he certainly wasn't going to use it for his lecture.

As they spoke, a procession of luxury cars pulled up and stopped at the hotel entrance.

Several beautiful women with an air of nobility stepped out of the cars.

Wang Chenning had sharp eyes and immediately recognized the stunning woman leading the group, who carried a powerful aura, as Li Fuzhen. Beside her was her niece, Li Yanxian.
