Chapter 276: Chapter 276: Strike When It’s Time to Strike

Wang Chenning hadn’t ordered an investigation into the college student named Li Chengchang, the one he had sparred with.

Their match that day had been decided in an instant. He had held back, allowing Li Chengchang to save face.

"Alright, give me his detailed file later!" Wang Chenning said, looking at Li Yanxian with a faint, unreadable smile. "You’ve impressed me quite a few times today!"

Just then, Luo Yuqing walked out. Seeing the two of them huddled close together and whispering, she couldn’t help but feel a pang of jealousy. Her voice was laced with sarcasm. "Well, am I interrupting something? Should I make myself scarce?"

"We were just discussing what happened last night!" Wang Chenning said with a smile as he sat down on the sofa. "Yanxian told me who the most likely mastermind is!"

"Who is it?" Luo Yuqing’s interest was instantly piqued. She plopped down on the sofa next to Li Yanxian. "Since you know who it is, you should hurry up and deal with them. Don’t give me a reason to look down on your Li family!"

Li Yanxian explained the situation with Li Chengchang, and then with his branch of the Li family. She finished by adding sheepishly, "But there’s no concrete evidence pointing to them!"

"Since when is evidence important?" Luo Yuqing said testily. "Finding evidence is a job for the police and the courts. What does that have to do with us?"

Luo Yuqing’s audacious words left Li Yanxian stunned.

"That’s true," Li Yanxian said, nodding after a moment of thought. "I’ll talk to my aunt about this when she gets back."

As they were speaking, Li Fuzhen returned.

"Oh, it’s only been a few days, but you’re looking so much better! Found yourself a lover?" Luo Yuqing stood up, wrapped Li Fuzhen in a hug, and continued teasing her in English, "You look so much younger all of a sudden!"

Luo Yuqing didn’t speak Korean, and Li Fuzhen wasn’t fluent in Chinese, so the two of them communicated in English.

Seeing Luo Yuqing’s teasing, Li Fuzhen replied, a little embarrassed, "You think I look a lot better too? It’s all thanks to Chenning’s treatments. "You punk, since when did you get so fluent in English?" Luo Yuqing let go of Li Fuzhen and stared at Wang Chenning in astonishment. "Who taught you?"

"Chenning can also speak fluent Korean!" Li Fuzhen said, looking from Luo Yuqing to Wang Chenning with a smile. "Just how many foreign languages do you speak?"

Li Yanxian was also staring at Wang Chenning in astonishment.

She knew Wang Chenning could speak fluent Korean and had guessed his English would be fluent as well.

But she’d never considered what other languages he might know. Now, hearing Li Fuzhen’s question, her own curiosity was piqued.

"I’m a linguistic genius!" Wang Chenning said with a broad grin, looking at the three astonished women. "Tomorrow we’re going to Japan, and I’ll be able to converse with them in fluent Japanese, too!"

Luo Yuqing shot him an odd look and asked testily, "What is it you *can’t* do?"

She had already experienced his Martial Arts abilities firsthand. She hadn’t expected him to be so talented at music and calligraphy as well, on top of speaking multiple foreign languages.

Luo Yuqing had a feeling this guy had a lot more skills she didn’t know about.

Having been Wang Chenning’s first, Luo Yuqing had begun to see herself as his number one woman. She felt it was only right that she should know everything about him.

The more she learned about Wang Chenning, the more of a stranger he seemed, and a sudden wave of anger washed over her.

Wang Chenning simply smiled without answering, changing the subject back to what Li Yanxian had said earlier.

Although Li Fuzhen knew that Wang Chenning and Li Chengchang had previously faced off, it had never occurred to her that Li Chengchang would seek revenge.

Hearing what Li Yanxian had to say, her expression changed slightly.

"Whether it was Li Chengchang’s branch of the Li family or not, let’s give them a show of force first!" Luo Yuqing said at once. "My thinking is, we leave gathering evidence to the police and the courts. Our only job is to let off some steam."

"Then I’ll come find you after I’ve settled in!" Luo Yuqing said, then promptly left.

"Shall we, then?" After Luo Yuqing left, Li Fuzhen gestured for Wang Chenning to follow her upstairs. "Go on up to my room and rest for a bit. I’m going to take a shower."

As Li Fuzhen grabbed her nightgown and went to take a shower, Wang Chenning received a text from Luo Yuqing: "Remember what I said. When it’s time to make your move, don’t hesitate. You have to make Li Fuzhen feel like she’s indebted to you, so indebted that she’ll feel compelled to compensate you with everything she has.
