Chapter 288: Chapter 288: Mist Shadow Fist
When Wang Chenning’s party arrived at the Tian residence, Tian Zhongxin himself was at the door to greet them.
Standing with him were several others of a similar age.
These old men were all renowned doctors in the world of traditional medicine. They were on good terms with Tian Zhongxin and had come to see what all the fuss was about.
After exchanging pleasantries, Tian Zhongxin ushered Wang Chenning’s party inside.
Tian Zhongxin lived in a large villa, built in a style resembling a traditional courtyard house, with an exquisitely designed garden.
Those with a certain reputation in the world of traditional medicine generally led comfortable, refined lives. The Tian family’s villa was a case in point—exquisitely constructed, it featured small bridges over flowing water, rockeries, and small pavilions, giving it the feel of a classic Jiangnan garden.
Furthermore, the villa was home to a group of young, beautiful women. They were dressed in traditional Japanese attire, their makeup exquisitely applied. Upon seeing Wang Chenning’s party enter, they hurried over to bow and offer greetings.
"Mr. Tian is a man who enjoys life!" Wang Chenning said to Tian Zhongxin with a chuckle. "Everything is so exquisite. I’m quite envious!"
"Everyone is envious of you, Mr. Wang!" Tian Zhongxin said, looking at Wang Chenning with a chuckle. "You’ve achieved so much at such a young age. What more could you possibly want in life?"
"Perhaps a sense of fulfillment!" Wang Chenning laughed as well. "As the saying goes, you don’t cherish what comes easily. If you don’t lack for anything, life gets pretty boring."
Wang Chenning’s words earned him a simultaneous eye-roll from the two beautiful women at his side.
Once they reached the main hall and were seated, Tian Zhongxin got straight to the point. "Mr. Wang, you are so young, yet you possess such consummate medical skill. What we’ve spent our entire lives learning can’t even hold a candle to you. Could you share with us how you came to study medicine?"
"Only a portion of my medical skills came from my grandfather," Wang Chenning replied. "I had a strange encounter in my youth. I happened to meet a senior practitioner with consummate medical skills, and he passed on his life’s learning to me. He also taught me how to cultivate my Qi. In truth, that’s probably the only difference between me and all of you. To channel Qi into the needle, guiding the body’s Qi and blood to circulate according to one’s will—that isn’t something you can achieve through hard work alone."
Tian Zhongxin and his friends had, of course, heard of certain miraculous acupuncture techniques that required channeling Qi for the needle, but no one they knew possessed such a skill.
Since none of them could learn it, they had naturally come to assume it was just a legend. They never imagined it was real.
"Wuxia novels talk about True Qi and Inner Power. While channeling Qi for the needle in traditional medicine isn’t as exaggerated as what’s written in those stories, it’s still quite miraculous!" Wang Chenning continued, still smiling brightly. "That senior taught me to cultivate Qi for ten years. The day I succeeded, he quietly vanished from the world. I’ve continued to train hard over the years and have finally grasped things on a deeper level. Don’t let my age fool you; I’ve been in this profession for over a decade."
"So that’s how it is." Tian Zhongxin wasn’t sure whether to believe Wang Chenning’s story.
Wang Chenning didn’t bother explaining further. "The technique of channeling Qi for the needle is difficult to describe in words. If Mr. Tian is interested, I can demonstrate it on you. I guarantee it will be a miraculous feeling!"
"Then I ask that Mr. Wang grace me with his needles!" Tian Zhongxin did not refuse, immediately instructing Tian Zhiheng to prepare the necessary supplies.
After some simple preparations, Wang Chenning had Tian Zhongxin sit cross-legged for the demonstration.
He then shot Wu Jingyi a meaningful glance.
Wu Jingyi understood. She discreetly took out her phone, switched it to video mode, and prepared to record Wang Chenning’s demonstration.
However, neither she nor Yang Xiaofu understood the purpose behind his actions.
Once everything was ready, Wang Chenning began the treatment.
He inserted the needle at the Dazhui acupoint on Tian Zhongxin’s back.
Tian Zhongxin’s friends all crowded around Wang Chenning, wanting to watch him perform the acupuncture up close.
Yang Xiaofu also took out her phone, discreetly snapped a few pictures, and posted them to her social media.
"Several bigwigs from Japan’s traditional medicine community, gathered around Wang Chenning as curious as first-year students, all wanting to see what’s happening. A young man, not even thirty, being looked up to by a group of old master physicians old enough to be his grandfathers. It really makes you feel that life is a stage!"
While Yang Xiaofu was posting to her feed, Wang Chenning was already performing the acupuncture on Tian Zhongxin.
Soon after Wang Chenning inserted the needle, Tian Zhongxin felt a warm current begin to build in his body, slowly spreading out from the Dazhui acupoint.
"There’s a warm current surging inside you now. Next, I’ll direct it to other parts of your body," Wang Chenning explained as he worked. "The principle of this technique is basically to gather immune cells and factors and send them to the afflicted area. It concentrates the body’s strongest immune response to eliminate the ailment and clear out blood vessels. Of course, the actual principle isn’t quite that simple, but that’s an easy way to explain it."
Wang Chenning had explained the principle in the most straightforward way possible. Hearing this, Tian Zhongxin and his friends seemed to have an epiphany, and they were even more astonished.
They knew, of course, that if you could concentrate the "elite forces" of the immune system on an afflicted area, any bacterial or viral infection could be easily cleared out.
If there were a blockage in a cerebral or coronary artery, a massive concentration of cytokines with thrombolytic, or clot-dissolving, properties could clear it without the need for surgery.
Furthermore, the blood would carry away waste products, allowing the afflicted area to be rejuvenated.
The body has this instinct. The immune system is its guardian, charging toward any ailment. But with deliberate guidance, the recovery would surely be far more effective.
Unfortunately, an ordinary person was completely incapable of doing such a thing.
They also knew that Wang Chenning was only giving them the simplest version of the principle, and that he wouldn’t be revealing its deeper aspects for the time being. Many things couldn’t be clearly explained with words anyway. The ways of traditional medicine were sometimes just that esoteric.
And Wang Chenning’s medical skills were just as miraculous.
As Wang Chenning continued the treatment, the warm current inside Tian Zhongxin’s body grew steadily stronger. The overall sensation became increasingly pleasant until he felt his entire body relax into a state of indescribable comfort.
As Wang Chenning prepared to withdraw the needle, Tian Zhongxin sighed in genuine awe. "Hearing is one thing, but seeing is believing. Mr. Wang, your Acupuncture Skill is truly breathtaking!"
The others were all stunned after hearing Tian Zhongxin’s detailed description of the experience.
They grew intensely curious, all of them wanting to experience it for themselves.
Wang Chenning did not disappoint them, giving each of them a turn with the needle.
The sensation, of course, was stunning.
Although Tian Zhongxin hadn’t dared to challenge Wang Chenning, he had still held some doubts about his Acupuncture Skill, as had the others.
But now that they had personally experienced the miracle of his acupuncture and witnessed his near-magical technique, all their reservations vanished.
After Wang Chenning finished, Tian Zhongxin bowed respectfully. "Mr. Wang, your medical arts have utterly convinced us. We may have been immersed in this field for many years, but our skills are nothing compared to yours. We hope that you might guide us. I, Tian Zhongxin, am willing to become your disciple!"
The others followed suit, bowing and expressing their own desire to become Wang Chenning’s disciples and learn his miraculous Acupuncture Skill.
Yang Xiaofu and Wu Jingyi, watching from the sidelines, both assumed Wang Chenning would refuse. After all, back home, he had a rule against taking on apprentices who were older than him.
But to their astonishment, Wang Chenning actually agreed!
