Chapter 1952: Chapter 1971: The Small Cauldron Appears

"Who? Who is speaking to me?"

Ning Chuan looked around in shock, but could not find the source of the voice.

"Go thirty thousand miles east, and you can meet me."

The inexplicable calm voice came again, and this time Ning Chuan knew it was not an illusion. His expression shifted between light and dark, unsure whether to trust this mysterious figure who had suddenly appeared.

However, Ning Chuan did not hesitate for long. He took a step, soared into the sky, and headed straight for the east, thirty thousand miles away.

Of course, Ning Chuan wouldn’t believe the words of a stranger, but he was unwilling to give up the chance to become Supreme; even if there was only a glimmer of hope, he had to try.

East, thirty thousand miles away.

A mighty river rolled on with waves rising and falling. Willows swayed in the wind on both banks. The crystal-clear waves shimmered, and a figure stood by the riverside.

This figure stood with hands behind its back, shrouded in mysterious mist, making it impossible to see its features or even discern whether it was male or female.

"Who are you?"

Ning Chuan had just arrived at this place, and his mind trembled violently because the shadow in front of him gave him an extremely unreal illusion.

Mingming stood right in front of him, yet Ning Chuan could not feel the presence of the other; the figure was like air, leaving no trace to capture.

"Ning Chuan."

The mysterious figure slowly turned around. Its eyes, through the void, were mysteriously inscrutable, calm and serene, without the slightest wave appearing.

"Who exactly are you?"

For some reason, Ning Chuan’s heart beat faster. Facing Ye Xuan and Yuan, he felt deep reverence, but when faced with this mysterious figure, he felt a silent fear.

It was as if the presence of the other could decide his life and death, not just due to a difference in strength, but a difference in the level of existence.

"If you like, you can call me ’Zhou,’" said the mysterious figure.

"Zhou?"

Ning Chuan was startled. Names of one or two characters often belonged to Heaven-shocking Extremists. Could this person in front of him also be Heaven-shocking or even Half-step Eternal?

"You said you could help me unlock the tenth Heavenly Gate and stand on equal footing with those two. Is that true?" Ning Chuan’s eyes shifted as he asked.

"Naturally, it is true," Zhou said.

"Why do you want to help me?" Ning Chuan asked gravely.

He never believed in such good fortune falling from the sky. A mysterious figure appearing to help him; if they said there was no purpose, he absolutely wouldn’t believe it.

"You don’t need to know why I’m helping you," Zhou remained calm, consistently in a state of tranquility.

Buzz!

Raising his five fingers, Zhou conjured a swirling mist in his palm. When the mist dissipated, a Small Cauldron emerged.

"This cauldron holds great mystery, key to unlocking the tenth Heavenly Gate. It can also break the shackles of this era, allowing you to truly catch up to those two."

As Zhou spoke, he handed the Small Cauldron to Ning Chuan, leaving Ning Chuan holding the cauldron in a daze.

"But remember, this cauldron affects whether you can enter the Heavenly Defying Realm, and whether you’ll become Half-step Eternal. If you lose this cauldron, you’ll never have a chance to become like them."

"Remember, remember!" Zhou advised.

"Thank you, senior!"

Ning Chuan hurriedly bowed deeply, carefully putting away the Small Cauldron.

"They are coming, I must go."

As Zhou spoke softly, he turned into a wisp of cyan smoke and disappeared, making it seem as if he never existed, imperceptible to anyone as having been there.

Buzz!

Shifting heaven and earth, figures appeared.

Ye Xuan and Yuan appeared simultaneously, their brows slightly furrowed as they looked at Ning Chuan, which startled him internally. Yet, with deep wisdom, he managed to maintain a calm façade despite internal panic.

"What are you doing here?"

Yuan’s eyes were cold as he looked at Ning Chuan with a hint of curiosity.

"I was feeling restless, so I came out for a walk," Ning Chuan bowed and replied.

"Hmph."

Yuan snorted coldly and asked, "Have you decided whether or not to become my apprentice and turn Supreme?"

"I am grateful for your guidance over the years, but becoming Supreme is not my path. I cannot become your apprentice, and today I must bid farewell."

Ning Chuan spoke with dignity and respect, bowing three times to them before decisively departing.

"Courting death!"

Yuan was furious; no one had ever dared refuse him in such a manner, fostering a murderous intent to crush Ning Chuan.

"Let him go."

Suddenly, before Yuan could act, Ye Xuan intervened, causing Yuan to pause. He was about to scold Ye Xuan when he noticed Ye Xuan’s subtly heavy gaze.

Hmm?

Yuan was startled and then fell silent, both watching as Ning Chuan departed without any hindrance.

"What did you sense?" Yuan, now calm, asked in a low voice.

"Didn’t you feel it?"

Ye Xuan gazed at the heaven and earth, his face somber as if seeking something.

Yuan’s expression shifted slightly before nodding. With Ye Xuan’s reminder, he too sensed something amiss.

Both being ancient beings who had lived through endless ages, Ning Chuan’s oddly calm behavior suggested something unfathomable had occurred.

Though Ning Chuan appeared deferential without revealing any flaws, his seemingly calm demeanor suggested greater issues.

Moreover, moments ago, this world was eerily quiet, to the point where not a sound was heard.

"Did he appear?"

Yuan asked heavily as he looked at Ye Xuan, the weight of the question significant.

From the day they entered the Heaven-shocking Extremist, both knew there existed a transcendent being above the Eternal Universe.

Yet, no one had ever seen this person; if anyone had, it was only Huang who had glimpsed the person’s back.

But this memory was extremely vague for Ye Xuan.

Huang’s memories within the Reincarnation Gate seemed largely erased, leaving only scattered fragments, and even Ye Xuan knew little of this person, nor understood what kind of existence they were.

But Ye Xuan was sure of one thing, that person’s existence was at least in the Eternal Realm, definitely above him and Yuan.

"Follow him."

Ye Xuan said briefly, the two exchanged a glance, and disappeared into the void.

...

Three billion years!

A full three billion years had passed.

Ye Xuan and Yuan had observed Ning Chuan secretly for three billion years, yet this lad, apart from daily cultivation, showed no unusual activity, let alone taking out the Small Cauldron to study it.

These three billion years were indeed long, enough to bore Yuan, but Ye Xuan remained patient, not showing the slightest impatience.
